The advice from my friend is this: it’s better to trade at the central market, where they had the most revenue. You can also sell in a separate area of ​​the city, but next to big amount residential buildings.

Getting permission

As I already wrote above, depending on where you will trade, apply there for permission to trade Christmas trees.

If this is a municipal market, then go to the market administration and ask for permission. It is advisable to negotiate a kind of monopoly trade in the market, i.e., so that you are the only seller there. You can come to an agreement, it’s been verified! You sign a lease at the location you want or at the one that is highlighted by the market, get permission and you can move on.

If this is an arbitrary place in one of the city districts, then go to the district administration (call in advance) and fill out an application for a permit to sell Christmas trees. Also find out in what form to attach a plan (marked on a map) of exactly where your outlet will be located. This may be a little more tedious than with the market administration, but not critical. Get permission and go!

Where to buy Christmas trees, pines, fir

All this stuff is purchased from forestry enterprises. You can call the forestry administration and find out what prices are in which forestry enterprises and go to where the price suits you best. It’s better to go further from the city, because the trees there are of better quality and the prices are cheaper. My friend drove 400 km. from the city.

From the documents you need to receive from the forestry enterprise: an agreement and an act of acceptance and transfer of goods. The exact number of trees must be indicated everywhere.

Buy spruce, pine and definitely fir! Firs have higher margins and are sold well because of their smell. Plus, you can make money from them in another good way, I’ll tell you below!

Trading place and preparation for inspections

When the trees have been purchased and delivered from you, you can sell them. But there are also requirements for a retail space.

1. You or the seller must have all the documents with you. This is a trade permit, an agreement with the forestry enterprise, an acceptance certificate, in general, everything, everything, everything. If there is a seller instead of you, then photocopies will be enough, but with your signature and seal.
2. There must be a sign saying “Christmas Bazaar” or something like that (check with the administration).
3. There must be a sign on the sign that says your individual entrepreneur (full name) and phone number.

If two or more entrepreneurs apply for one place, then the place is rented out through an auction. Usually the cost is estimated based on the area. For a small Christmas tree market, 20 square meters is enough. m, for a busy place you will need an area of ​​about 60 sq. m. m.

For example, in September of this year, the Moscow Department for Competition Policy announced 51 auctions for the placement of Christmas tree markets in various administrative districts Moscow. The initial cost of renting one plot of 12 square meters. m. is 48 thousand rubles. For a plot of 60 sq. m. the starting price is 300 thousand rubles. Organizations receive the right to use the site for 5 years, but only for 11 days a year: from December 20 to 31.

After receiving permission, you must switch to UTII, if permitted by the local administration. In this case, the tax will be determined based on the area of ​​the Christmas tree market and the number of days it is open. In January of next year, you will need to remember to submit an application for removal from this regime, and report to the tax office by the 20th.

If you can’t use UTII, you will have to use a simplified taxation system and equip your Christmas tree market with a cash register.

Some municipal administrations offer an alternative way to solve the problem. When requesting a trade permit, an entrepreneur pays a certain fee, in return the administration issues permission to use a certain land plot for trade. This includes tent trade in squares in New Year's Eve, Christmas tree markets and more. The municipality no longer imposes any requirements on the entrepreneur. On the one hand, entrepreneurs are required to submit an official application with a request to allocate a site for organizing a Christmas tree market, register with the tax office and give away a percentage of their profits. On the other side, administrative penalty for illegal entrepreneurship ranges from 500 to 2000 rubles. All this contributes to the emergence of illegal Christmas tree markets, where enterprising citizens prefer to negotiate on the spot with inspectors and continue to work quietly.

Large fines are provided for illegal cutting of spruce and pine trees. This is already the Criminal Code, and the amount is up to 500 thousand rubles. The violator may also face correctional labor for up to two years. But, as often happens, violators simply do not fall into the hands of justice.

To combat illegal logging, forest departments use a special mixture of environmentally friendly paint. They coat the paws of pine trees with it, giving them an unsaleable appearance. The paint fades a few weeks after the New Year, but the trees are safe during the period of mass cutting.

Interesting fact: the New Year tree was not always available to residents of Russia. After the October Revolution, a whole propaganda effort was carried out against the New Year's forest beauty.
