Pattaya is a world of entertainment, exoticism, fun and sleepless nights. Undoubtedly, this is a resort for young people, active people who are ready to roam the city streets on mopeds or scooters during the day, learn about the national culture, and go all out at night.

Why is the city considered a world of entertainment?

In the very recent past (less than 60 years ago), the city of fun was a small fishing village on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand. Local residents fished and enjoyed the white sands and crystal clear waters. So the village existed from the middle of the 18th century until its quiet and measured life was changed by the war.

With the beginning of the Vietnam War, the fishing village became the location of American soldiers: a foreign airfield was based very close. The soldiers were quickly drawn to the quiet harbor of the fishing village. On weekends and free nights, soldiers came here for alcohol, delicious food and women. In order to please wealthy Americans who were willing to pay for a good vacation, beer bars, snack bars, and small hotels were built in the village, where, in addition to lodging and alcohol, they also sold sexual pleasures.

Over time, rumors spread among American employees about Pattaya as a place have a nice rest. At the first opportunity, all the officers gathered in the village in order to dilute the war and routine everyday life with nightly pleasures. This contributed to the arrival of young pretty girls from poor families in Pattaya, ready to sell their bodies and love. Since then, after the end of the war, the city has continued to gain fame as a place of incredible entertainment and fun.

An interesting fact is that it was the airbase of American soldiers during Vietnam War has now become the main airport of Thailand, and in the USA almost fifty people born after the war bear the name Pattaya - such a mysterious national exchange.

A place in the sun on white sands - about the weather and geographical location

Pattaya is located two hours from the capital of Thailand on the Gulf of Thailand in the South China Sea. It has a tropical climate, warm sea and friendly locals.
As for the climate, as in all tropical countries, the air temperature does not fall below 23 degrees, however, for local residents there are three seasons:

  1. The rainy season starts from June and ends in mid-October. At this time the temperature is not the lowest, +28...+30 degrees, but the presence torrential rains And strong wind darkens the impression of the paradise peninsula;
  2. the cool season lasts from October to March, accompanied by clear on sunny days and temperatures from 25 to 30 degrees above zero. For tourists, this is the most common holiday time, however, locals consider this time to be cold;
  3. summer begins in early March and ends in June. IN spring months The weather here is hot, there is no rain, and the temperature is always above 30 degrees.

The water temperature in the sunny city of entertainment ranges from 27 to 31 degrees depending on the season. In the hot and rainy season - 30–31 degrees above zero, in the cool season - from 27 to 29 degrees.

Storms, tsunamis and other unfavorable elements are excluded in Pattaya, because the city is located in a closed bay, the water here is calm, and waves are very rare.

A smiling country with a Buddhist worldview - what does a Russian tourist need to know?

Holidays in Pattaya this moment increasingly focused on Russian tourists. More and more often you can see an advertisement in Russian, hear “hello” from a Thai stranger, or be surprised by a menu in Russian. Thais treat Russians well, they are always friendly and smiling, because Russians with a generous soul are the bulk of tourists and bread for Pattaya residents.

Pattaya people are people who constantly radiate smiles. This is their mentality and national culture. Nevertheless, you need to comply with the laws and traditions of the country so as not to find yourself in an unpleasant situation:

  • Be careful about temple culture - for Thai citizens these are shrines. Do not take photographs of temple premises; if this happens, immediately apologize to the person who reprimanded you;
  • show respect to the royal family, Thais do not like it when politics are discussed or criticized;
  • Don't touch a Thai's head, even with the best intentions. The head is a sacred place in Thai culture;
  • show interest and respect for the Buddha symbol, do not desecrate the sacred image.

The official religion of Thailand is Buddhism. It is so strongly integrated into Thai culture that for most it has become a philosophy of life, a worldview. Every tourist, even without wanting to, can watch how Thais express their devotion to Buddha. For example, when entering any Thai house, you cannot help but notice the image of a sacred Buddhist image - it will stand in the most honorable and prominent place, and if you have scheduled your vacation for the beginning of April and saw that the Thais are pouring water on each other, do not be alarmed: This is New Year's celebration.

Thailand has a special cheerful culture, the traditions of which do not always fit into the mind of a Russian tourist. And what about the rituals and celebrations that can be observed - have you ever heard of the elephant festival?

If you comply simple rules national traditions, you will not laugh at a very strange culture, you will respect the rituals that you notice on the streets or in temple complexes, you will undoubtedly be given lively and wide smiles.

Beach relaxation or city fun?

Pattaya has eight city beaches. Of course, they are not distinguished by crystal clear water, as it was in the days of the fishing village. One of the most best beaches counts Wongamat beach - with the clearest water and a well-groomed coastline, thanks to the expensive hotels surrounding it. There are a sufficient number of seafood restaurants, beautiful bungalows, a lack of local population and white sand.

In comparison with others resort towns and beach archipelagos, such as the island of Phuket, Pattaya is inferior in purity of water, beach relaxation and snow-white sand. But if entertainment, lots of fun, and city traffic are more important to you, you won’t find a better resort.

One of the most famous places in Pattaya is Walking Street. This is the most famous entertainment center in Thailand at night. Life here starts at 5 pm and ends at 2 am. There is everything here - cabarets, bars, restaurants, souvenir stalls, discos, erotic shows and massage clubs. Here are two of the world's most famous transvestite theaters - Tiffany and Alcazar.

Local travel agencies offer a wide range of excursions - visits to temple complexes, tropical gardens, the famous Mini Siam miniature park, Elephant Village, floating market and much more.

When choosing a trip to Thailand, you need to know what you want from your vacation. If your desire is to experience traditions, have fun, and feel the power of nightlife entertainment, you will not find a single disadvantage in your long-awaited vacation. And when you get tired of the nightlife, you can always go on an excursion to the nearest islands, get an unforgettable relaxation from the silence, crystal clean water and snow-white sands.

Pattaya is the most famous resort in Thailand. And once upon a time it was a small fishing village on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand, 147 km away. From Bangkok. The situation changed during the Vietnam War. US troops were stationed not far from the village. It was with their appearance that the construction of bars and hotels began in Pattaya.

Tourists associate Pattaya with freedom and pleasure. This is precisely why more than 2 million people flock here every year. Some people prefer to live in hotels (there are hundreds of them here), others rent apartments and houses. It all depends on desires, preferences and wallet sizes. Foreigners are very popular, as for locals they are the main source of income.

Thailand is located in the zone tropical climate, and the weather is here all year round beautiful. It is believed that from April to November it is the rainy season in Thailand and the flow of tourists there is sharply reduced. In fact, during this period the air temperature drops by only 3–4°C, and the rains begin and end quickly. The prices for travel packages and the cost of renting accommodation for those traveling on their own are sharply reduced.

Pattaya: City of Entertainment

Unlike the islands of Thailand, prices in Pattaya are very affordable, and there is also all possible entertainment. Bars and restaurants are open until the morning.

Holidays Pattaya attracts with permissiveness and accessibility. Beach lovers who are interested in scuba diving, connoisseurs of culture, as well as people seeking unusual sexual sensations and adventures. Yes, yes, Pattaya is the sex tourism capital of the world. And it all started with those same American soldiers. To earn money, and it should be noted that Thailand was the poorest country, girls came here from all over the kingdom. But if earlier they made money through prostitution so as not to starve, now, in order to have fun, they buy new clothes, housing.

Life in the city begins closer to midnight, and it is very colorful. Famous Pattaya Walking Street- the most popular street, which is open to vehicles from morning until 7 pm, and in the evening it becomes completely pedestrian. This is where all the entertainment venues and restaurants of the city are concentrated.

Here they walk all over the street prostitutes in Pattaya, who for a small fee (this is how to negotiate) will kindly agree to create a campaign. Only the most beautiful of them will turn out to be men. More precisely former men. The third gender has become commonplace in modern Thailand. This is an intermediate state between a man and a woman. The third gender includes both transvestites (men in women's dresses) and transsexuals (people who have undergone gender reassignment surgery). A few transsexuals call themselves the third gender, the majority consider themselves women.

An ex-man is called a kata or ladyboy in Thailand. The main part of the artists of the world famous shows Alcazar and Tiffany are transsexuals. True, their career does not last long. Rarely does anyone go out dancing over the age of 35.

Thais love holidays and fun. They live by the principle that pleasure in life is more important than plans for the future. This attitude towards life is almost instantly transmitted to tourists.

Pattaya was chosen by European residents, mainly Germans. There are a lot of European pensioners who moved to the city for permanent residence.

Where is the best place to stay in Pattaya?

This city is not for a relaxing holiday with children, due to the noisy nightlife. People who come for entertainment and shopping prefer to settle in the center - then all shopping centers, clubs, cafes will be within walking distance. Few people dare to swim in the bay in this area - everyone prefers to go to the islands.

Pattaya is divided into several districts:

  • Northern;
  • Central;
  • Southern;
  • Jomtien;
  • Pratumnak;
  • Naklua;
  • the area north of Sukhumvit (the main highway).

Pattaya City Center- this is the place where all the discos, bars, cabarets are concentrated. There is also the largest number of hotels from economy to luxury.

The southern area is famous for Walking Street and Bali Hai Pier, from where you can take a ferry or boat to Koh Larn.

The most prestigious area of Pratumnak, it is very fond of wealthy Russian tourists. Pratumnak is replete with luxury hotels and villas. The famous Big Buddha Hill is also located here.

The Jomtien area is located partly outside the city and is more suitable for family vacation, it is quiet and peaceful here compared to other areas of the city. This is where the largest hotel complex, Ambassador City, is located.

Naklua is the northernmost part of Pattaya and the quietest, there are no nightclubs or discos. Because of its tranquility, it was chosen by older Europeans.

In the area beyond Sukhumvit live the Thais themselves and experienced tourists who prefer to relax according to their own rules and spend several months in Thailand. Prices in hotels and on the market are much lower here. This is affected by the lack of tourist flow.

Which islands do tourists go to and how to get to them from Pattaya?

Few people dare to swim in the sea, especially in the center of Pattaya, because of the dirty water. Because of this, swimming in the Gulf of Thailand is prohibited in some places due to very dirty water. Therefore, all tourists during the day go either on excursions, or to shops and shopping centers, or to nearby islands, where you can see snow-white sand and crystal clear water.

Everyone prefers to swim and sunbathe on the island. Ko Lan. They get there either by boat or by ferry. They depart from Bali Hai Pier, which is located at the end of Walking Street. On small boats a round trip will cost 300–400 baht, on a ferry - 30.

Ferries leave every hour. The last one picks people up from the island at 18.00. This method is cheaper, but more extreme, since all people move from the ferry to a large boat, which transports them to the pier. The extreme begins in the evening, when everyone returns to the city. Tourists prefer to stay on the island until the last minute, and then attack these boats with the whole crowd.

Prices on the island for food and drinks are much more expensive, but there really is a crystal clear sea, white sand and order.

How to get around the city?

There will be no problems getting around Pattaya, even if the hotel is located in a remote area of the city. Mostly tourists travel independently by taxi, tuk tuk or motorbike. In many large stores and restaurants you can get a free city map. It’s better to carry it with you: it will be easier to explain to a taxi driver or motorbike driver where you want to go. Many of them know only a few foreign words: “Ok”, “one hundred baht”, “two hundred”, “fifty”, etc. So a trip from one end of the city to the other on a bike will cost about 100 baht, in the center - 40 –50 baht.

The first trip will cause a colossal level of adrenaline to be released - in Pattaya, only tourists notice the traffic lights. Locals don't pay any attention to them and refuse to believe that you need to stop at a red light. Motorbikers are very nimble, they choose side streets, small streets to reduce travel time, but will definitely get you to your destination.

Traveling by taxi is more expensive. But if a campaign consists of several people, then the price becomes very reasonable. But it’s better to negotiate the price before the trip - this is almost a prerequisite. And don’t be shy about bargaining with taxi drivers; they will be happy to argue with you a little. If you use an official taxi with checkers, it is better to say that you will only go according to the meter. Otherwise, the price will be significantly higher. Many large stores are willing to provide a free taxi if you plan to shop with them. Information about this is often printed on the same booklet with a map of Pattaya.

The most common transport is tuk tuk. These are pickup trucks that have rear seating for passengers in the form of two benches facing one another. Each tuk tuk has its own route, it travels along it slowly and picks up everyone who asks to stop. A wave of your hand will be a signal for the driver to pick up a new passenger. Naturally, there are no stops, everyone can get off wherever they want. The fare for a tuk tuk is 20 baht. In the evening, many drivers work as taxi drivers, so you need to bargain with them.

What kind of money is in use and where is the best place to change it in Pattaya?

In Thailand they love dollars and euros. Rubles can also be exchanged, but the exchange rate will not be favorable, and it will be impossible to buy anything with rubles. The ruble to baht exchange rate is almost 1:1, despite the economic crisis in both the Russian and Thai economies. The highest baht to ruble exchange rate is at airports. But tourists have no choice; they will have to change, since they will have to buy a ticket for a bus or taxi.

There are many exchange offices on the streets of Pattaya where you can exchange dollars for baht. There won't be any problems with this.

Food in Pattaya: Should you eat on the street?

All Pattaya hotels, with rare exceptions, offer only buffet breakfast, included in the price of the tour. You can also have lunch and dinner in the hotel restaurants, but for an additional fee.

Drinking tap water is strictly prohibited. Bottled version is sold in all stores.

As for alcohol, the most popular are local beer and Thai rum Sang Som. Beer prices are the same as in Russia. The average price for a bottle of local is 47 baht.

Every major shopping center has areas with cafes where you can have a fairly affordable and hearty meal. There is a chain of Seven Eleven stores throughout Pattaya, where you can find almost everything. These small shops are filled with goods: both food and household chemicals.

Throughout the city, right on the sidewalks, there are numerous street cafes with tables, of which there are no more than 3-4. As a rule, locals eat there, since Thais do not like to cook at home. Tourists who want to save money also love these places. For 100 baht for lunch or dinner you can get a 30-centimeter catfish with vegetable salad.

Just one thing you should pay attention to: food in Thailand is very spicy and not every European stomach can handle it. You should definitely ask for it to be cooked without spices. “No spice” - this phrase will be enough for the Thai to understand that you do not want spices.

There are plenty of cafes and restaurants in Pattaya, for every taste and budget. Remarkable fact: the most expensive restaurants in Pattaya are Russian.

Thailand is famous for its exotic fruits. They can be bought everywhere, but the cheapest prices will be in markets where they are purchased locally. The price tag here will be 3-4 times less than in a tent at some large store.

What is the best month to go to Pattaya?

The city welcomes guests all year round. The rainy season is a typical phenomenon in Thailand, but you should only be wary of it in September and October, when floods are possible.

The high season begins in December and ends in April. It is in April that many tourists try to get to Pattaya, as this month Thais celebrate Thai New Year. This is an unforgettable event in which, without exaggeration, the entire city participates.

Budget tourists choose May to visit Pattaya. It still rarely rains this month, and prices for hotels and food are much lower.

History of the formation of Pattaya and variations of the name of the city

Several decades ago, during the Vietnam War, Thailand hosted US military bases on its territory. One of these bases was located near a small fishing village called Pattaya. Like most cities and villages in Thailand, Pattaya received its name based on brief definition weather in this area. Phatthaya translated from Thai means " southwest wind at the beginning of the rainy season".

American soldiers were in Thailand for quite a long time; they needed at least some kind of entertainment industry to relax, and they were willing to pay a lot of money for entertainment, which the locals quickly realized. Pattaya began to expand quite quickly, entertainment establishments (bars, shows, massage and intimate salons, etc.) were built at an accelerated pace, everyone came to the city more people to maintain this already large infrastructure.

After the American soldiers left their bases in Thailand, Pattaya was not empty at all; tourists flocked here from the same American cities. The most gorgeous sea, summer all year round, accommodation and food cost pennies in Pattaya at that time, as well as the availability huge number very cheap offers from Thai prostitutes - all this for some time became a paradise for American tourists. About 15 years ago, tourists from Europe began to come to Pattaya, and since about 2005, Thailand has become very popular among Russian tourists.

By the way, the Inn Wing 2* building in hotel complex Pattaya Ambassador City Jomtien is a former American barracks, restored and converted into a hotel building.

Names of Pattaya

Most Russian-speaking tourists and even guides pronounce the name of the city with emphasis on the second syllable: Pattaya. But in fact, it would be correct to put the emphasis on the third syllable, as the Thais themselves and all other tourists say: Pattaya.

In addition, you can find other spellings of the city's name: Pattaya, Pattaya, Pattaya, Phattaya. The international official designation for Pattaya is Pattaya.

Resorts in Thailand have long been developed Russian tourists and there is nothing surprising in this: the combination sea holiday and Asian exotica - a win-win for travelers tired of European beauty. The Kingdom offers holidays for every taste - sightseeing, beach, religious, medical tourism; people come here for shopping and entertainment for adults. We tried to collect for you the most interesting sights of Pattaya - one of the most popular Thai resorts, where life is in full swing and there is always something to see and where to go.

It is one of the miniature parks that are so popular all over the world. Here, in just a couple of hours, you can get acquainted with the main attractions of many countries, albeit on a scale of 1:25. The park is divided into two parts: “Mini Siam” is dedicated to the buildings of Thailand and its neighbors - Cambodia, Laos, Burma, and “Mini Europe”, which is not very obvious from the name, is dedicated to the rest of the world. Russia in “Mini Europe” is represented by St. Basil’s Cathedral on Red Square and the Motherland sculpture on Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd. In total there are more than a hundred buildings, as well as a beautiful area with fountains, flowering beds and unusual trees, where it’s nice to walk and there’s a place to take pictures. Experienced tourists advise planning a visit in the evening to see the park in daylight, and then admire the beautiful night illumination of the exhibits.
The park's opening hours are from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The cost of an adult ticket is 300 baht.

Temple of Truth

The largest wooden temple in the world. It has been under construction since the early 80s of the last century and the end of construction is not yet in sight. The idea of building a structure in which there would be a place for pilgrimage for adherents of all religions of the East came to the millionaire Lek Viriyaphant, after whose death his son led the process. The temple is a truly grandiose structure: it is built from teak and iron wood without nails (although the latter are clearly visible on the walls, but the Thais promise to remove them upon completion of construction).

Work inside is ongoing, so visitors are given helmets. The temple has four halls - Thailand, China, India and Cambodia - according to the number of religions represented. There is a prayer room only in the Thai hall, where mantras are constantly heard. The building is richly decorated with ornaments, carved figures, and imbued with symbolism. It is located on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand and resembles a huge dragon from a fantasy world. In addition to visiting the sacred building itself, you can take a boat ride on the bay, watch national Thai dances, and visit the mini-zoo at the entrance.
Opening hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; you will have to pay 500 baht for entry.

Temple complex Wat Yan

Wat Yan is not just a church. On an area of 145 hectares there are about 10 buildings built at different times and in different styles, making up a large religious center. Among them main temple– Wat Yangsangwararam, where only monks can enter, a white stupa with the relics of Buddha, the palace of the Chinese emperor, the monks’ homes, a meditation center, hospitals, schools. A must-visit is the Phra Mondop Chapel, which is also called the Buddha's Footprint because it houses the footprint of Buddha.

There are 300 steps leading to the chapel, upon climbing which you can enjoy the beautiful view and ring the bells, making your cherished wish. On the territory of Wat Yan there are two lakes, one of which is completely overgrown with pink lotus, and around which there are gazebos for relaxation and contemplation. You can visit every day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entrance is free, but you need to pay 50 baht to climb to the Buddha's Footprint.

Chinese temple Wat Ang Sila

The Chinese temple Wat Ang Sila is also called the Temple of the Red Dragon, and once you get here, you understand why. You probably won’t find such a bright, pompous, toy-like building either in Pattaya or in its environs. The building dates back to around 1700 and is dedicated to Chinese Buddhism. The style is consistent throughout - there are Chinese pagodas, huge incense burners, dragons entwining columns everywhere, a lot of gold and red. There seems to be too much decoration, but the temple looks more fabulous than tasteless - you feel like the hero of a movie about a sneaking tiger and a hidden dragon.

The walls of the room inside are decorated with paintings, and carpets are laid on the floors. Here you can ring a huge bell and make a wish or beat a huge drum that clears karma. Countless figures, patterns and ornaments can be looked at for a very long time, and one cannot help but mention what magnificent photographs are obtained with the Temple of the Red Dragon in the background. Open from 8 to 7.30 daily, admission is free.

Temple of Hell and Heaven

Perhaps the most controversial place in terms of visiting by tourists. This garden museum provides a visual answer to the question “what happens after death?” both with the righteous and with the sinners. The portion of the area reserved for Paradise is replete with images of the peaceful, happy lives of Buddha's followers meditating in a lush garden. Apparently, the creators of the museum considered that there are significantly more sinners on earth than saints, and allocated as much as 70 percent of the entire area of the Temple to the hellish part. It begins with an encouraging sign “Welcome to Hell”, after which the tourist sees two gigantic figures of a man and a woman, around which are located smaller figures, each with the head of an animal, symbolizing one or another sin.

Next, you will be invited to “admire” the scenes of punishment for sins - various fanaticism and self-mutilation are shown in all their glory. The figures do not make a completely creepy impression due to the grotesqueness of the images, however, sensitive people should consider whether it is worth going here. The Thais themselves come to the temple at least once a year and bring their children. It is believed that if you throw money into an urn next to a figure depicting the sin that you want to atone for, your karma will be cleared. Visiting hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., admission is free.

Palace of the Chicken King

This is what the common people call the Ban Sukhavadi complex - a pink, blue and gold architectural ensemble located on the seashore, built by billionaire Panya Choititawan. The rich man owns Saha Farms, the largest supplier of chicken in Thailand, hence the name of the palace. There is a lot to see on the territory: in addition to the six-story mansion itself, there are other buildings here, as well as a luxurious park with ponds and huge flower beds, peacocks strolling imposingly along the paths. The owner himself can also often be found in his residence. It is not easy to determine what style the building belongs to - it is a mixture of Baroque, Rococo and typical Asian motifs.

The interiors are also filled with an explosive mixture - from reproductions of the Mona Lisa to ancient knights and cheap plastic fruit. There is also a temple to the goddess of mercy Guan-Yin and, of course, its own Buddha, seated in the Buddha Tower about 10 meters high. On site you can have a meal in the restaurant, watch a daily Thai show, explore the pompous interiors of the palace and other buildings, and stroll through the park. A visit costs 500 baht, with dinner and show - 800 baht, the complex is open from 8.30 to 18 hours daily.

Khao Chi Chan or Golden Buddha Mountain

A very interesting attraction that will take very little time to explore. Measuring 130 by 70 meters, this image of a seated Buddha, laid out in gold plates on a mountain, is the largest image of Buddha in the world. This unusual gift was made by the son of King Rama IX on the 50th anniversary of his father’s reign in 1996. The entire kingdom collected money for the gift, then spent two days applying the image using a laser, and then laying out the gold on a stencil for several more months.

Actually, there is nothing to do here except photographs with the mountain in the background, so the visit should be combined with a visit to other attractions. By the way, a commemorative photo in a frame can be made right there for 100 baht. In addition to the photo center at the foot of the mountain there is small park. They do not charge money for visiting; Khao Chi Chan is open to tourists from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Big Buddha Hill

Big Buddha Hill or Big Buddha Temple is the name given to the 15-meter tall Buddha statue located on Mount Pratamnak, to which 120 steps lead. The entrance to the stairs is guarded by seven-headed Nagas dragons. In addition to the golden statue itself, there are 20 smaller statues at the top, seven of which depict the days of the week. Using the table nearby, you can calculate what day of the week you were born on and bring a donation to the corresponding statue.

In a separate building at the foot of the hill, for a small donation, the monk will perform a purification ceremony and tie a rope on his wrist to make a wish come true. There are bells located right there, and by hitting each of them with a stick you can also make a wish. By the way, when ascending and descending, the steps should be counted, and if the count is not successful, then the karma still needs to be cleaned. In general, Thais come here for cleansing and for Buddhist flavor; from the observation deck at the top, by the way, there is an excellent view of Pattaya. Admission is free, open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

floating market

Designed to show the life of a Thai village on stilts, which was very common in the kingdom earlier and is still preserved in some places. In Pattaya, the village was built specifically as tourist site. This is a very colorful attraction - guests are transported on boats past houses on both sides of the river, connected by bridges. Almost all the houses have shops, and various entertainment events are held on the walkways - dance performances, Thai boxing, massage. They mainly sell food and groceries, which can be bought not only in stores, but also directly from boats plying along the river.

The market is thematically divided into four regions of Thailand with their own traditional products and crafts - south, north, center and northeast. Whether to buy something here or not is up to everyone to decide for themselves; the prices are quite inflated and you won’t find any unique products here. But you can eat deliciously, make unusual photos and have a fun day. Entrance to the floating market is paid, 200 baht. Open daily from 10 to 21.

Elephant Village

A truly interesting place with a noble history. The reserve was founded in 1973 as a shelter for old and sick animals, where they received health care, and still exists on its own funds, without government assistance. The village began to gain popularity and today about 30 elephants live here and more than 100 staff work there. You will be amazed by the skills of these huge animals - in the village the elephants paint, play instruments, dance, drive and even give massages. There are three shows every day.

You can also feed the elephants and ride them on jungle walks of varying lengths. This excursion will not leave anyone indifferent. The reserve is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day. A visit costs 650 baht; for 1,200 baht you can take an hour-long walk around the territory on an elephant; there are also longer walks.

Tiffany Show and Alcazar

Most tourists in Thailand associate these shows with transvestites and, indeed, the percentage of people who have changed their gender in the Kingdom is frightening. Not visiting the shows organized by transvestites is the same as not trying a mango here. The transvestite show does not imply anything shocking or offending the dignity of sensitive citizens. This is a colorful, vibrant vocal and dance performance in lush scenery of men dressed in elegant costumes who have become women. Tiffany was the first performance of its kind in the country and dates back to 1975. About 100 actors participate in the production.

The Alcazar show is Tiffany's main competitor; they are located opposite each other and have an almost identical concept of performances. At both shows they will sing, dance, and show parodies of the culture and traditions of Thailand, China, the USA, and other countries. Spectators who attended both shows note that Tiffany can boast of a more solid and high-quality production, which also determines the price of tickets. Both shows run daily: Tiffany at 6, 7:30 and 9 p.m.; Alcazar at 17.00, 18.30, 20.00 and 21.30. There are also additional performances on weekends. Tickets for Tiffany cost from 800 to 1400 baht, for Alcazar from 500 to 1200 baht.

Alangkarn Theater

Alangkarn Theater, in contrast to transvestite shows, offers its viewers a full-fledged theatrical performance with the participation of professional actors. During the three-hour performance, you will learn about the main periods of Thai history and become immersed in the culture and traditional arts of this country. The Thais used everything in the production - scenery and costumes, fireworks and special effects, even elephants take part in the performance. Alangkarn Theater shows only one show, but the level of its production is so high that it leaves an indelible impression in the memory of tourists. A definite recommendation for a visit to Pattaya. Before the performance, you can have dinner at the theater restaurant. The performance is performed daily, except Wednesdays, starting at 18:00. Tickets from 800 to 1500 baht, depending on the selected seats and dinner availability.

City of Love "Mimosa"

An interesting format to attract tourists for shopping. This is a shopping and entertainment center, designed in the form of an elegant French town, with narrow streets, canals and parks, and even its own town hall. There are more than 300 shops in the shopping area, and a maze and a haunted house in the entertainment area. There is also an aquarium in which sea monsters like small sharks live, and a poultry house. Every day at 17:00, 19:00 and 21:00 a travesty show takes place on the square near the Fountain of Love. Finally, in the wedding area you can take beautiful photos as a souvenir. Of course, Mimosa has restaurants, cafes, spas and massage rooms. Street musicians play the guitar, various attractions are arranged for visitors - you can definitely spend the whole day here. The shopping center is open from 10-11 to 23 o'clock, entrance fee is 600 baht.

Waterpark Cartoon Network Amazone

Open to visitors since 2014. A water amusement park was built by the TV channel of the same name in a cartoon style. Each of the 10 zones of the water park is dedicated to its own character. The most extreme zone with adrenaline rides is Omniverse, the zone for teenagers and not the most courageous visitors is Adventure Zone. Finally, for the little ones there is the Cartoonival Zone, which has about 150 attractions for kids. There is also a lazy river and a swimming pool with large artificial areas. The water park is proud of the Surf Arena attraction, which simulates a wave for surfing. Of course, there are cafes and restaurants on the territory, albeit with very inflated prices. A visit to the water park for an adult will cost 1,600 baht, opening hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Water park "Ramayana"

The Ramayana water park is even more “fresh”, opened in 2016 and is the largest water park in Asia. The number of slides is more than 20. The theme of the park is a forgotten ancient city; there are even swamps covered with mud on the territory. Of course, there are extreme and calmer slides, a wave pool and a lazy river. In addition to water activities, Ramayana has a fairly large land area, with areas for active sports, elephants that you can feed, and a floating market.

There are two children's play areas. Some attractions have automatic lifting of cheesecake circles. The restaurant area is varied, there is even a children's restaurant. Food prices, by the way, are not as steep as at Cartoon Network Amazone. Parents can visit the fish spa and get a massage while their children master the slides. An adult ticket costs 1,190 baht, and the water park is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Military beach

Military Beach or Sai Kaew is located in the Bang Sarai area, 20 kilometers from Pattaya. This place attracts locals and tourists with its cleanliness, sparseness and silence. As the name suggests, the seashore belongs to the army, more precisely, to the school of the royal naval forces, so the order and cleanliness of the territory is closely monitored. The length of the coastline is about 500 meters of white-gray sand. The beach is surrounded by hills, and palm trees and deciduous trees growing close to the shore provide natural shelter from the sun.

There is all the infrastructure necessary for a relaxing holiday: changing rooms and showers, several restaurants and cafes, water activities like banana and cheesecakes, a small hotel with bungalows. For obvious reasons, you won’t find noisy bars and discos on Voennoy Beach. Excursions on a boat with a transparent bottom are offered - either to coral reefs, or to a neighboring island where you can feed wild monkeys. Entrance to Military Beach is paid, 100 baht per person.

Volkin Street

Volkin Street - this street in the central part of Pattaya has become the hallmark of not only the resort, but the whole of Thailand. It is small, you can walk through it all in 5 minutes. During the day there are practically no people here, and at first glance it is impossible to determine what the secret of Volkin Street’s popularity is. Everything changes with the onset of evening - the street is closed to cars and on both sides it is full of signs and endless bars, restaurants, and nightclubs are deafening with music. This is the center of Pattaya's nightlife, which specializes mainly in entertainment for adults - striptease, Go Go, erotic shows. There are many prostitutes on Volkin Street, working both in bars and on the street.

Once here, you don’t have to succumb to everyone’s mood and plunge into the abyss of debauchery. There are quite ordinary bars, restaurants and even hotels, but you shouldn’t count on a quiet holiday in them. Until two o'clock in the morning, Volkin Street is walking and noisy. If you don’t expect to have a “continued” vacation, you can walk along the pedestrian street, soak up the Thai flavor, and if you really want to, visit quite decent discos like Insomnia and Mixx, and end your acquaintance with the dark side of Thailand.

Khao Kaew Zoo

It will please not only children, but also adults, first of all, with the living conditions of the inhabitants. This is an open zoo, which means that the animals live there almost in a natural environment, and not in cramped enclosures. Opened back in 1978, it has constantly grown, and now occupies an area of 800 hectares, being one of the largest in the world. There are about 8,000 animals, birds and reptiles here, including rare individuals. In addition to the zoo itself, Keo-Keo has a research base, as well as a platform for daily animal performances.

The zoo is divided into thematic zones with their characteristic inhabitants: Savannah, Antelope Park, Valley of Cats, Monkey Island, Butterfly Garden. It will take more than one day to thoroughly explore the entire territory, so it is better to come here by car or rent a golf cart. Many animals can be fed. In addition to the daytime visit, there is the Night Safari attraction - from 18:00 to 20:00 you can drive through the territory in the dark and see up close nightlife wild animals. Admission for adults costs 400 baht, and the zoo is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Underwater World Pattaya

Underwater World Pattaya shelters about 2,500 inhabitants of more than 200 species. It presents both the inhabitants of the Gulf of Thailand and the South China Sea, as well as rare specimens of marine inhabitants brought from abroad. The center of the aquarium is an underwater tunnel about 100 meters long, once in which you feel seabed. The tunnel is divided into several zones: a coral reef zone, a shipwreck zone, where a model of a real ship sunk off the coast of Thailand is located, an Amazon River zone and a zone cartilaginous fish with the most dangerous sharks and rays.

The contact pools attract attention, the inhabitants of which can be touched - in them you can get up close and personal with turtles, stingrays, starfish, cat sharks and many colorful fish. In addition, fish feeding takes place in the aquarium several times a day, a very exciting spectacle, especially when huge sharks participate in it. And orange carp, for example, can be fed from a bottle yourself for a small fee - a very popular entertainment among children. The entrance fee is 500 baht, the aquarium's opening hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Million Year Stone Park and Crocodile Farm

They are located in the same area near Pattaya. The first is an unusual garden in an oriental style, decorated with a huge number of stones of the most incredible shapes. These giant boulders resemble various animals and birds, are organically integrated into the landscape of the park and were carved either by nature or by human hand - it’s difficult to make out. The collection was assembled by a Thai businessman. Looks most interesting petrified trees, the age of which is difficult to imagine, although the figure in the name of the park rather looks like an exaggeration. Either way, it’s very beautiful here and makes for great photos.

After walking around the park, it is worth visiting the Crocodile Farm to look at the reptiles, of which there are 60,000 individuals. You can take part in feeding crocodiles with chicken from a special fishing rod. The show with crocodiles demonstrates the courage of the trainers who fearlessly perform tricks, including the signature one - the trainer's head in the crocodile's mouth. And paradoxically, here you can taste crocodile meat and eggs in a local restaurant and buy a crocodile skin product as a souvenir.

Opening hours are from 8 to 18.30, the cost of an adult ticket is 500 baht.

Three Kingdoms Park

It is an architectural and landscape tribute to the 14th century novel “The Three Kingdoms” by Chinese writer Luo Guangzhou and the corresponding period in Chinese history when the country was divided into three independent states fighting for power. The park is small, an hour is enough for a walk. Among the attractions are three pagodas, one large and two smaller. You can walk on them freely; from the top floor of the large pagoda you can see beautiful view to the park. In front of it is a statue of the park’s founder, a Chinese-Thai businessman.

The territory is very beautiful, the landscape is laid out in compliance with the rules of Feng Shui: there are petrified trees, a fountain with a dragon, and sculptures of warriors and horses scattered here and there. The 240-meter wall with a gallery, on which 56 paintings illustrating the novel, attracts attention. In Three Kingdoms Park you can rent traditional Thai clothes and take pictures with the pagodas in the background.

Open from 10 to 17, on weekends until 18 hours. It’s better to call before coming, since the park is scheduled to be closed for renovation in 2018. The ticket currently costs 150 baht.

Three Kingdoms Park

The tower belongs to the Pattaya Park Beach Resort. Its height is 240 meters, which is 56 floors. Since the tower is the highest point in Pattaya, people go up here for an excellent view of the city. You can admire Pattaya from a bird's eye view from the observation deck, from the panoramic windows of The Panorama, The Pinnacle, The Meridian restaurants, located on the 52nd, 53rd and 54th floors and serving a buffet system. By the way, the part of the tower where the restaurants are located slowly rotates around its axis, which means that during dinner you can get a 360-degree view just by sitting at the table.

The most interesting attraction is called Tower Jump and involves descending from the 56th floor of the tower in a cabin for 8 people, a double open cradle or on a zip line, fastened to a tensioned cable. Those who dare to choose the most extreme option of descent note that the descent is not fast or steep, so there is no need to be afraid. A ticket for the observation deck alone costs 200 baht, with one of three descent options and a drink - 400 baht. Buffet in restaurants – 600 baht. The attraction is open from 10 to 19 hours, restaurants from 11 to 22 hours.

Sheep farm

First of all, this is a place where you should go with children, but adults will also have a pleasant time here. Essentially, this is a large field on which not only sheep graze, but also pigs, donkeys, rabbits and some other household inhabitants. Haystacks are artistically scattered around the area, bright figures and installations are installed, and there are gazebos for relaxation - the result is a pastoral picture that begs to be captured by a camera lens. All animals can be fed; each entry ticket includes a bunch of grass for the sheep. Lambs can be bottle-fed.

You can ride on catamarans on the small lake. There are trampolines, a Ferris wheel and cars for rent. There is a show of exotic birds, mainly parrots. You can have lunch at a good steakhouse nearby. A ticket costs a symbolic 50 baht, but almost all entertainment inside is paid. For 250 baht you can watch a bird show. The farm is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Fish market

It is located in the northern district of Pattaya, Naklua, but people come here from all over the city and its environs, mainly tourists. The market is impressive with a variety of fish and seafood, many of which you most likely have not seen before, although the standard set in the form of shrimp, mussels, octopus, crabs, cuttlefish, lobsters and all kinds of fish is present. This abundance is explained by the fact that ten meters from the Naklua market there is a fishing village - the path of the product to the final consumer is the shortest, which ensures high quality goods.

In addition to the fish itself, they sell vegetables and fruits, dishes and even clothes. Right at the entrance there are counters with braziers and barbecues - for a small fee, your purchase will be prepared in the chosen way, and you can enjoy the food in a park nearby or take it with you. The market opens from early morning and closes by 6 pm. It’s better to arrive in the first half of the day so as not to run into yesterday’s goods, but not too late, otherwise you risk seeing half-empty shelves.

Sriracha Tiger Zoo

This zoo was originally opened as a haven for Bengal tigers, hence the name, however, with the growing popularity, other inhabitants began to be housed here. Today, camels, crocodiles, elephants, ostriches, various domestic animals, roe deer and even scorpions coexist in the zoo. There are crocodile shows, tiger shows, elephant shows and pig races every day in Sriracha. A very spectacular performance “The Scorpion Queen” - you won’t be able to look at the brave trainer covered from head to toe with scorpions without shuddering.

Observe the life of the zoo's inhabitants - especially interesting is the "Happy Family" enclosure, where a tigress nurses piglets and a sow feeds tiger cubs. Visitors can also bottle feed the tiger cub and capture this moment in a photo, for a fee. The shooting range operating on the territory is curious - when a target is hit, pieces fall into the tigers’ enclosure fresh meat. The zoo's opening hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; an adult ticket costs 450 baht.

Nong Nooch Tropical Garden

This is one of the largest garden and park complexes in the world. The founder of the garden, Mrs. Nongnuch, conceived it in the image of French and Italian gardens, but Thai generosity and love of abundance prevailed, and now there is nothing here! The French regular garden is one of the most popular in Nong Nucha, an incredible size orchid garden, a unique collection of palm trees (more than 1200 species!), a garden of cacti, dwarf trees, and stones. You can admire the plants and trees while walking along suspended walkways with sun canopies. Among the architectural buildings of interest are Stonehenge, almost life-size, the Thai national house, Chinese pagodas over the French garden. Of course, like in any other Thai park, in Nong Nooch great amount sculptures, animal figures and other decorative elements.

The garden of pots deserves special attention, the talent and imagination of its masters can only be envied. There is a small zoo here, and the elephant show is considered one of the best in all of Thailand. The second show that the garden is proud of, a traditional folk show, also takes place several times a day. From the latter, the Dinosaur Alley was opened, with huge statues of ancient animals. The park's exposition is constantly updated. Well, in conclusion, it’s worth checking out the car park of the current owner of the park – the son of Mrs. Nong Nooch. Open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Entrance ticket costs 500 baht, admission to the park and both shows costs 800 baht.

Silver Lake Vineyard

This is a small piece of Italy surrounded by palm trees and the Golden Buddha Mountain in the background. The vineyard belongs to a wealthy Thai family, which has entrepreneurially made a business not only from the sale of wine, but also from the process of its production. In addition to the vineyard itself, guests will find a cozy Italian square with neat houses and a fountain in the middle, where they can have a snack in a cafe or dine in a restaurant. On the shore of the lake there are romantic gazebos and tall cypress trees that are completely atypical for the landscape. To fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere, you should take a tour of the vineyard on a small coach bus, which will make stops in the most picturesque places for photos - at the windmill and in the flowering gardens.

There is an option to visit the wine cellar, without a tour. You can walk around the park, which, as usual, is decorated with flower beds, sculptures, fountains and benches, for free. And of course, it’s worth trying the local wine, which is also made using Italian technology. The excursion for 100 baht includes a visit to the wine cellar and a bottle of grape juice. For 250 baht you will also get a tour of the vineyard and two glasses of wine. The vineyard is open to visitors from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Jewelry factory Gems Gallery

As you know, Thailand is famous for its precious stones - sapphires and rubies are mined in the kingdom. Here is one of the largest jewelry factories in the world, James Gallery, with branches in Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Phuket. The Pattaya branch covers an area of 15,200 sq.m. and employs more than 2,000 employees. In addition to the exhibition and sale itself, there is a museum here that will be of interest not only to jewelry lovers. This is a whole attraction, during which tourists in small trolleys go to improvised quarries and mines, observing the process of formation of minerals and their extraction. The second hall showcases the work of jewelers who create masterpieces of jewelry right before the eyes of visitors.

Here you can see all the stages of making jewelry - shaping, cutting, polishing, processing stones. Finally, the next room features jewelry that can be purchased. Each design is unique and all jewelry comes with a lifetime warranty. Prices are different, yes silver jewelry are much cheaper because silver is mined here in Thailand. After the excursion, most likely combined with shopping, visitors can relax in the relaxation area and drink refreshing drinks. Entrance to the factory, as well as transfer to it and back, regardless of purchases made, is free. The exhibition and sale is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Lahn Island

The island closest to Pattaya, whose name translates as “coral”. People go there for the real tropical nature of Thailand, snow-white sand and clear water, because the beaches of Pattaya itself cannot boast of this. One-day trips to Laon are popular among tourists, although the island is ready to receive guests for longer periods - the necessary infrastructure is available. The island is small, only 4 km long and 2-2.5 wide. In addition to 6-7 beaches, there is a small temple, a Buddha statue and a couple of viewing platforms.

At the same time, shops, cafes and restaurants are presented in sufficient quantities, as are amenities and entertainment on almost all beaches, except the most remote ones. You can get to Lan from Pattaya by speedboat for 150-300 baht or on a budget - by ferry for 30 baht. The latter method will take longer (about an hour), but you won’t have to wait for other passengers to board; the ferries run on schedule. You can also go to the island on a tour.

Samet Island

Located further from Pattaya, 6.5 km from Rayong province on the mainland, it is about an hour and a half drive from the city. In order not to build complex logistics schemes, it’s easier to buy a transfer to Samet and back from Pattaya travel agencies, it will cost 500 baht per person. The island is small, 7 km long by 4 km at its widest part. The pier, the only temple and a small fishing village are located in the north of the island, rocky shores in the west, and the east is replete with long sandy beaches. You should come here for solitude and a beach holiday. There are no attractions as such on the island, but there are plenty of hotels, restaurants and shops.

The areas of Pattaya, which welcome more than five million tourists annually, are located on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand. I would like to note right away that in reality Pattaya refers to a fairly compact area of the coast within Beach Road and Walking Street. Moreover, the length of the entire coastline of the resort is about 30 km, which is almost 10 times more. It will probably come as a surprise to many that the word Pattaya is practically not used in official documentation and even in postal addresses.

Location of Pattaya districts + map

Pattaya Nak Lua District

For convenience, I will start describing the areas of Pattaya from the northern part of the resort, which is closest to Bangkok and located on the left side of the map posted on this page. All the described areas are limited from the west by the sea (Gulf of Thailand), and from the east by one of the main highways in Thailand called Sukhumvit Road. The first area is Naklua. This name is more popular among Russian-speaking tourists, but the Thais themselves call the area Naklua, so when communicating with Thais it is better to use the second option. By the way, on this map the area is also designated as Naklua, which is quite rare. A detailed description of the area is given in a separate article (you can follow the link).

I should immediately note that the area is quite quiet and calm, more suitable for those who are not suitable for a noisier central part cities. In the Naklua area, a separate section of expensive Wongamat land with a beach of the same name is sometimes allocated, and the area itself, due to its location north of North Pattaya Street, is called North Pattaya. The area has everything you need for a comfortable life, and among the interesting and popular tourist sites in the Naklua area, one can note the magnificent Temple of Truth - the tallest wooden structure in the world, the North, a large fish market, and until recently the tallest building in the resort under called Northpoint.

Pattaya Central District

The most crowded and noisy area of the resort, located east from Beach Street to the Sukhumvit highway and bordered to the north and south by North Pattaya and South Pattaya streets, respectively (yes, the famous Walking Street is not included here, no matter what some blogs write about Thailand and Pattaya in particular). The majority of hotels in the resort are located in Central Pattaya, and there is a maximum concentration of massage parlors (including Body-to-body massage), shops and other entertainment venues. Pattaya's largest shopping centers are also located in this area, including the largest in the resort called Central Festival.

South Pattaya area

An area of Pattaya located south of South Street (pardon the pun) and located between Central Pattaya and the Jomtien area. To be honest, the area is not particularly touristy, I would say more of a transit area (one of the main city roads passes through the area - Thappraya Road, connecting the resort center with the Jomtien area). Of the useful facilities, we can only note the South Bus Station, the Bali Hai Pier (from where you can), a go-kart track and one of the Big C hypermarkets (on the Sukhumvit Highway).

However, just one street turns the area into a real Mecca for lovers of nightlife: the famous Walking Street. During the day, the street is quite quiet and uncrowded, practically no different from others. However, starting from 18-00 local time, the street becomes pedestrian and blooms with numerous neon signs. Almost a hundred Go Go, several large discos, many restaurants of various types, beer bars, billiard rooms, many hotels of various price categories in the adjacent side streets, including hotels with hourly rates under the signs of “Short time room”, all kinds of exotic shows and much, much more. Of course, the resort is rapidly developing and the number of streets with bars is constantly increasing, while many of them are no worse in their own way, but the kilometer-long Walking Street still remains the most popular and crowded.

Pattaya Pratumnak area

To the south of the Bali Hai pier is Pratumnak Hill, which is the highest point of the resort and the small prestigious area of the same name, which is a kind of local analogue of Beverly Hills. In addition to the residence of the Princess of Thailand, there are quite expensive hotels located on the coast, a beautiful park with exotic plants and trees, observation decks, a Buddhist Temple, as well as a Buddha statue on the top of a hill, and a city radio station. The guideline for this Pattaya area is the Pattaya Park Hotel with a water park, or rather its tower, from which you can go down on a bungee. Also of interest is the site located next to the huge letters PATTAYA, which glow brightly on the hill in various colors. You can find hotels at guaranteed best prices in this and other areas of the city using the methods described on the page:.

In the area, which is the geographical center of the administrative district of Nopra, there are many Russians, and not even tourists, but living in condominiums that have been purchased or rented for a long time (part of the area is sometimes called the “Russian Village”). The main disadvantage of this area of Pattaya, in my opinion, is the higher prices for accommodation and other services in the area, as well as its not the best transport accessibility(there may be problems with tuk-tuks, but long-term accommodation usually means your own motorbike, so to some extent the disadvantage is not so obvious). By the way, the best way to assess the situation in this and other areas of the resort is the program, with which you can see with your own eyes in detail most of the streets and attractions of the city.

Pattaya Jomtien area

The southernmost of the tourist areas of Pattaya, in which today there is a maximum concentration of the Russian-speaking population, both tourists and those living in Pattaya for a long time. The area is experiencing a real construction boom: hotels and apartment condominiums are being built, including the chic high-rise Reflection, the tallest residential building in Pattaya for the coming years, built almost on southern border area, beyond which begins the administrative unit of Na Jomtien - a number of condominiums and hotels, the most famous of which is the Ambassador, from the upper floors of which there is a on-line translation, with which I so enjoy watching the sun set over the sea.

This hotel was originally built as a casino hotel, but gambling at the resort and in Thailand has not yet been allowed. By the way, even when I was going to Thailand on a package tour, this particular hotel was always one of the most affordable. It seems that a similar situation is observed now, but I’m just warning you that saving on a ticket (if you still haven’t decided to go to Pattaya on your own and don’t want to fly to Thailand cheaply) can lead to the fact that you’ll have to spend a lot on transport, because it’s located The hotel is a bit far from the city center and you can’t get there cheaply with a regular tuk-tuk. And you will lose not only money, but also time, which for me personally during vacation is much more important. (This was not an anti-advertisement for the hotel, just a friendly warning).

Concerning Jomtien area in Pattaya, then we can note the presence here of one of the longest and fairly clean beaches in the city limits of the resort, which I personally found quite good for relaxation (you can read more in the article). Other useful points for tourists include a fairly large night market at the intersection of the Sukhumvit Highway and Theprasit Street (the northern border of the Jomtien district). Russian speech can be heard everywhere in the market; even many Thai traders already know Russian to the extent necessary for trade and bargaining. The market is large and crowded, I personally could not get around it all.

In the same area (squares L4 and M4 on the map) there is a Tesco Lotus hypermarket and a large store of branded shoes and clothing at discounted prices, Outlet Mall. To be honest, I’ve been to this store twice, but I never noticed the low prices. I don’t worry too much about my appearance, so I don’t know much about brands. But I can say that high-quality clothing from European brands in shopping centers in Poland, where I usually buy clothes, often costs much less. But when you have time, you can go and check it out, then write in the comments :)

This is where I end description of Pattaya areas. I can add that the part of the city located beyond the Sukhumvit highway is called eastern Pattaya. There is a railway connection there, you can buy inexpensive low-rise real estate, and there are some attractions of Pattaya, which I will talk about in a separate article. On the Sukhumvit highway itself, in addition to hypermarkets, there are also shops and restaurants, including the ubiquitous McDonalds, many car dealerships, the country's largest Duty Free store and a beautiful dividing strip on the highway itself with neatly trimmed bushes and palm trees.
