Early years

Dita von Teese (real name - Heather Rene Sweet) was born on September 28, 1972 in Rochester, USA; the middle of three daughters in a family. Her mother worked as a manicurist and her father worked as a machinist for a graphite company. Dita has Armenian roots.

Dita Von Teese is known to have a passion for cinema and 1940s style. It is on this that her image as a dancer and model is based. The infatuation began at an early age and was promoted by Dita's mother. She bought the girl retro-style outfits, as she herself was fond of old cinema.

Also With early age Dita did ballet... Already at the age of 13, she danced solo numbers at the local theater. Despite the fact that Dita dreamed of becoming a ballerina, according to her own statements, at the age of 15, she had already achieved the best that she was capable of. However, the girl applied her dancing skills later, when she devoted herself to dancing in the burlesque style. In her numbers, Dita often dances in pointe shoes.

When the company where Dita's father worked changed its location, the family moved from Michigan to Orange County, California. There, Dita attended Irvine University Graduate School.

V adolescence Dita's mother took her to a lingerie store to buy the girl's first bra. The sconce given by her mother was made of plain cotton, and in addition to it, the girl received two plastic eggs with wrinkled flesh-colored tights inside. As Dita herself says, she was very upset about this, because she hoped to get beautiful lingerie, which she saw on the girls from Playboy magazine. Passion for him became the foundational style of Dita. At the age of 15, she worked in a lingerie store, where she rose from the position of a salesman to.

While in college, von Teese studied costume history and aspired to work as a costume designer for films. On the this moment Dita Von Teese is a skilled costume designer and her own stylist.

"No, it was not at all difficult for me to come up with a photo shoot - after all, this is how I look every day, including at home."

“One of the reasons why I decided to develop my own image on my own is that the types that are usually shown as sex symbols of our culture are unacceptable to me. I was never fascinated by natural beauty, and I did not feel that I could be attractive without makeup. And no matter what I do, I'm not going to be like girls like Gisele Bundchen. Never! I love to fantasize and use glamor as my own way of being sexy. "

Career

Fetish and glamor

Von Teese has achieved a certain level of recognition in the fetish field. For many years of wearing a narrow one, she has achieved a reduction in her waist to 56 centimeters. In a corset, her waist can be pulled up to 42 centimeters. At the moment, Dita's height is 165 centimeters, and her weight is 52 kilograms.

Dita Von Teese has appeared on the covers of a number of fetish magazines, including Bizarre and Marquis. Her photograph also graced the cover of Midori's book The Art of Seduction in Japanese Bandage. In 1999, 2000 and 2002, the model was shot for Playboy magazine, in 2002 Dita appeared on its cover.

German metal band Atrocity selected Dita von Teese as the model for their 2008 album cover.

Burlesque

A passion for open and seductive lace lingerie led Dita (then Heather) to become a member of the Captain Cream strip club dancers at the age of 18. Heather quickly noticed that all the other girls have absolutely no personality, and all their numbers are too faded and the same type. She armed herself with her favorite lingerie sets, complementing them with lace gloves, grace, corsets, luxurious and garters, feathers and other decorative details and created a unique one that set her apart from others.

“What I love about costumes is the transformative power they have. Here I am sitting naked, hair on curlers, then I put on shoes and stockings. And now everything is put on and buttoned up, and I suddenly appear completely different and say: "It's time to get out!" I often joke that I make up for my lack of talent with costumes! "

In addition, she came up with a stage name for herself, which later became her full name. Heather has always liked surnames with the prefix "von". She chose the name Dita (borrowed from the actress Dita Parlo, whom she admires) and the comic surname Teese, which sounds like english word"Tease" ("tease"). So she became Dita von Teese and began working in the burlesque style that made her famous.

“Don't relax! Even alone at home before bed, I undress like a real queen. I take off my stockings as if I were on stage and hundreds of people are looking at me. "

This dance direction has brought Dita von Teese immense popularity. In the press, the girl is known precisely as the "queen of burlesque". She began performing in the genre in 1992 and helped revive and popularize it. In her own words, she "returned temptation to striptease." The complex and lengthy dance shows, which included tons of props, were inspired by musicals and films from the 1930s and 1940s. Some of the more famous dances feature a horse carousel, a giant powder box, and a real bathtub with a working shower. A feather fan from her dance, inspired by burlesque dancer Sally Rand, is now on display at the Hollywood Sex Museum. Dita von Teese's signature show is a dance in a huge Martini glass.

“Burlesque is my first love. And to be honest, it is very important for me that people know that striptease has a great history. And I would never betray the choice I made once in my life. "

Dita Von Teese's burlesque career includes several particularly memorable performances. One day the dancer showed up at the Hollywood Academy of Arts, wearing a costume encrusted with $ 5 million worth of diamonds. In addition, Dita became the first guest celebrity to perform at the Crazy Horse Parisian Cabaret in 2006.

“In my opinion, Paris is a city that knows how to appreciate its dancers, and I think it's time for me to raise the bar. In addition, the Crazy Horse cabaret itself has always attracted me - ever since I was a teenager. "

In the same year, von Teese appeared in the 7th season of the show "American style" with a training program for participants aimed at seduction through burlesque. In 2007, the dancer performed with the Italian rock noir group Belladonna at the Erotica 07 festival for adults in London.

Dita also appeared in a concert video of George Michael, where she performed a dance to the song "Feelin 'Good".

However, Dita herself admitted that acting is not the main thing for her. She prefers to play only those roles that she feels:

“I don't understand why women, as soon as they become famous, tend to act in films. Personally, I consider roles that are aesthetically correct for me. "

In early 2011, Dita played herself in an episode of CSI: A Kiss Before Frying, however, her name was changed to Rita von Squeeze in the role.

- Dita commented on the news.

Books

Dita von Teese's first book, Burlesque and the Art of the Teese / Fetish and the Art of the Teese, was released in 2006. In it, Dita expresses her own opinion about the origin of fetish and burlesque, and also tells the story of these genres of art. Then Vanity Fair magazine named her "Burlesque Superheroine."

In December 2009 the second book of the model - “Dita. StripTeese. ”Dedicated to beauty, self-care and the secrets of her dance. In this book, Dita gives step-by-step descriptions of her preparations for social events, filming, presentations, and screenings. The book includes tips on makeup, hair, body care.

“I want to tell you how from a blonde, an ordinary girl from a small Michigan town, I suddenly turned into a real phenomenon in the world of glamor, into a phenomenon that, frankly, has never existed before. How to become different, how to create yourself! "

Burlesque Queen beauty rules

Dita von Teese willingly shows off her skin (“My nudity is my stage costume,” she says): you can easily notice that on both her face and body she is of the same amazing matte milky shade. The main effect, of course, is achieved with the help of contrast: the gray-eyed blonde deliberately opted for dark hair. However, this would not be enough: it is important to correctly store the gift of nature. The point is definitely not in cosmetic camouflage - everyone who saw Dita up close notes the natural beauty and flawlessness of her skin. Of course, she uses powder and makeup, but not to hide imperfections.

“I'm not going to spend hundreds of dollars on a salon where they will do everything to me that I can do myself, and moreover, with love. Makeup: concealer, powder, mascara and lipstick. Styling: chignon. The whole procedure takes no more than 10 minutes. The main thing is to fill your hand. "

The first rule of Dita von Teese: balanced moderate diet. She has long and completely abandoned high-calorie foods, including sweets, and eats only boiled meat and steamed fish. No fast food, no small snacks: Dita eats several times a day in small portions and drinks a lot of still water. Proper nutrition and plenty of drink help toxins and toxins to be removed from the body in a timely manner.

“I'm not like a big“ diet lover ”, I eat, for example, quite a lot of fish and chicken. It's hard to eat right when you travel a lot, but I try. "

“Once I went to a nutritionist and asked:“ What to do? My shows are at night, I really want to eat after them! But you can't do it before going to bed! " He told me that this opinion was already out of date. The main thing is what is. In general, I was very happy with this wonderful news! "

Dita von Teese's second rule: regular non-extreme loads. For many years, Dita has been swimming in the pool for at least an hour a day and doing yoga and Pilates alone. Fitness, like any other public sport, she does not practice and even criticizes: in her opinion, a dialogue with her own body is something that a person should do on his own. Dita denies rumors that she uses the recipe, and every day she lies in a bath with crushed ice - according to von Teese, this is unpleasant. Systematic soft and comfortable exercise allows, avoiding stress, to stay in shape and keep the skin taut.

“Work on yourself, sparing no effort. My wasp waist for example, it is the result of daily grueling training in Pilates, yoga, ballet and a strict diet. Sometimes I leaf through a magazine and see some amazing beautiful actress who says she eats pizza every day and doesn't bother with how she looks at all. This is all nonsense. I don't understand why in our time it has become so embarrassing to admit that you are working on yourself, striving to look your best. "

The third rule of Dita von Teese: the sun is the enemy of girls. Frau von Teese rarely leaves the house during daylight hours and, if she has to, always takes a large one with her and applies a sun blocking cream with SPF 50 to exposed areas of the body. This not only maintains a captivating snow white, but also minimizes the risk of skin cancer.

The fourth rule of Dita von Teese: a lot of sleep. She never stays for after-night parties and all kinds of after-parties.

"If there is an opportunity to go home and go to bed, I will use it,"

- says the star of the elite striptease.

Adequate rest allows the regenerative processes in the epidermis to go through full cycle, prevents the appearance of puffiness and dark circles under the eyes.

The fifth rule of Dita von Teese: do not try to deal with skin problems on your own or wait until they go away on their own - immediately contact a dermatologist. Dita has long and faithfully visited the same Hollywood specialist, whose name, however, was not disclosed. The doctor knows well the peculiarities of her skin and accurately selects the treatment if necessary. The star knows: attempts to tidy up the skin with their own modest powers can turn into even greater problems:

“I think it’s better to spend money on a dermatologist than to buy 10“ magic ”creams a year, which are also ineffective.”

Hobbies

Dita von Teese's personal life runs between Hollywood and Paris.

She collects antique Chinese porcelain such as egg coasters and tea sets. In addition, the girl has a passion for corsets, beautiful lingerie, cocktail shakers and ballet pointe shoes.

Dita owns several expensive cars. These are the 1938 Packard One Twenty Eight, the 1946 Ford Super De Luxe, the 1965 Jaguar S-Type and the BMW Z4. She also owned a 1939 Chrysler New Yorker from 2007 to 2010.

As you know, from 2005 to 2007, Dita Von Teese was married to Marilyn Manson. Prior to this marriage, she dated Social Distortion member Mike Ness and actor Peter Sarsgaard.

At the moment, the girl is in a relationship with the French aristocrat Louis-Marie de Castelbajac.

Dita von Teese also admitted that at the age of 20 she had a homosexual experience, which included a serious relationship with a woman.

Von Teese speaks openly about his plastic surgery: the model has enlarged her breasts, and also made a tattoo in the form of a mole on her cheekbone.

“It's no secret that I have enlarged my bust. When I was a teenager, I had quite large breasts, and I had a period in my life when I went to parties and did drugs. After three years, I was as thin as a skeleton and looked very bad. I almost gave up the ends. I became forgetful, could hardly remember something and concentrate. Suddenly I lost my luxurious chest, which I had. "

Relationship with Marilyn Manson

Marilyn Manson has long been a fan of Dita Von Teese and even was in her fan club on the official website. They first met at one of the social events, then Manson invited von Teese to participate in the filming of his music video. Since at that moment Dita did not have such an opportunity, they exchanged contacts and kept in touch.

“I was dressed to smithereens: in a luxurious hat with a bird, long gloves, a suit and a veil, and he constantly followed me. Feeling his gaze on me, I turned and asked: "Maybe I can help you with something?"

At the party in honor of Marilyn's 32nd birthday, Dita Von Teese arrived with a bottle of absinthe, after which they declared themselves a couple. On March 22, 2004, Marilyn Manson proposed to Dita von Teese and presented a 1930 ring with a round European cut diamond. The wedding ceremony of the couple took place on November 28, 2005 in the form of a private social party.

A large wedding ceremony took place on December 3, 2005 at Gurteen Castle, owned by their friend Gottfried Helnwein, located in Kilshillan, Ireland. The wedding was directed by surrealist and comic book writer Alejandro Jodorowsky. Now luxurious lilac Wedding Dress Dita von Teese, made by the British, participates in the V&A (Victoria and Albert Museum) traveling exhibition.

On December 29, 2006, von Teese filed for divorce from Manson, citing "irreconcilable differences." She left their house empty-handed on Christmas Eve, without even informing Manson of her intention to end the marriage. V interview The Daily Telegraph, von Teese says:

“I don’t support the idea of his parties or his relationship with other girls. As much as I love him, I'm not going to be a part of it. "

Von Teese also stated that she gave Manson an ultimatum, but it did not work.

"Instead of making concessions to me, he made me an enemy."

- she admitted.

Von Teese did not require financial support from her ex-husband and, apparently, was not interested in his assets. On January 5, 2007, on his birthday, Marilym Manson signed the divorce papers.

“I converted the diamond I got for my engagement into a magnificent ring in the workshop Christian dior in Paris. It's beautiful and big. It seemed to me that I was suffering a lot because of this diamond, and it needed a rebirth to become better. But the most extravagant thing after the divorce, when I moved from my ex-husband, was that I ordered myself a pink electric stove and refrigerator in the style of the 50s. "

Interview with Chris Urankar (Nine to Five Online)

Chris Urankar (CW): When did your passion for lace, luxury and other splendor first appear?

Dita von Teese (Dft): Well, I wanted to be a ballerina when I was a little girl. I believe that ballet costumes and theatrical makeup played some role in this. In addition, I became obsessed with beautiful lingerie, not just its appearance, I perceived it as a rite of passage into a woman. I was constantly rummaging through my mother's linen drawer and dreamed of the day when I could finally wear these things! Therefore, for me lingerie is just a way of seduction, it is part of the art of being a woman.

KU: In your photo shoots, you often imitate the "Queen of the Curves" Betty Page. What made her your source of inspiration?

Dft: Yes, Betty Page is one of my main inspirations. But people are often confused, because I usually say that my main idol of glamor is Betty Grable. This is confusing for fans. I think it’s because she was blonde and I’m a brunette. Therefore, it is much more logical for many to consider Paige as my idol. But, you know, it's not about hair color, it's about spirit. I am inspired by a wide variety of women, but I have never imitated any particular personality. My image and my style is a compilation of inspiration from many things plus decades of my own evolution. Betty Page was a huge inspiration to me as a '90s fetish model because, in my opinion, she brought something light and playfully sensual to the dark world of fetishism. But Betty has never been a burlesque and showgirl star. But many people associate it with burlesque. This is a completely misconception about her. By the time she was a pin-up model, the era of burlesque was over and Betty never appeared on stage as a striptease star. So my inspiration comes from the burlesque stars and showgirls like Betty Grable played in the 1940s. Her films have truly become the biggest inspiration for me!

KU: How did it feel when Vanity Fair once called you "Burlesque Superheroine"?Dft: At that moment, I felt that I had a significant reputation, and this prompted me to work harder on myself as an artist. I wanted to stage and show even more grandiose burlesque shows! It made me develop, not sit and pat myself on the back. KU: In an interview with the British Telegraph, you said that you don't understand why most women, once they become famous, tend to act in films. What about you? What roles appeal to you?

Dft: I meant that acting is, of course, good, and I act in films when I feel that the role really suits me. But this is not so important for me as compared to striptease and my burlesque productions. I’ll say more, I don’t pretend to be a movie star at all. I prefer to be famous in the field of striptease, just like my idols Rose Lee and Lily Saint-Cyr. But this is how I feel. I love what I do, I love to think over the concept of the show and put it on, and acting doesn't give me the scope for creativity that I need. Maybe this means that I will always be known much less than the stars and movie and television shows, pop stars ... But I don't care. I am very happy to be myself and to do what I do best! I wish more people would enjoy doing what they do best, rather than trying to be someone under pressure. However, if in the future everything coincides correctly, then perhaps I will begin to develop in other directions. But right now my main goal is to do my shows and change the way people think about striptease a little.

KU:Can you describe your approach to dressing for the red carpet? You are on the list of the best dressed celebrities, you have a taste for ...

Dft: I do not use stylists, I choose all my outfits for the red carpet myself. I even do my hair and make up myself. All this is a part of me, it allows me to realize who I am and where I am at the moment. I love the feeling of independence that such independence gives me, and I like to be aware of the fact that I myself do the work of a whole team of stylists. Being the only celebrity to do it all and still make it to the list of the best dressed stars is totally satisfying for me! And I think it's very important to show other women that they can look great without any help. In my opinion, the key to a flawless individual style is independence. I never pay attention to statements. According to the press, sometimes I am dressed better and sometimes worse. I reckon with my own feeling style and think that if something seems right to me, then it is right!

KU: Are you sure you've never used a stylist? Maybe all the same, yes, at least once?

Dft: Once I trusted my intuition and called a stylist to my house to help me complete my vintage collection. I remember she took a pair of lovely vintage ones and said, "They will look so cute with jeans!" And then I realized that she didn’t know anything about me (I don’t even have a single pair of jeans) and decided that it’s better to be left alone with my personal style than someone would tell me what is right and what is not and impose your tastes. The most famous women in fashion do not lend themselves to the moment, they can be different and have a style that does not change from season to season, but develops. My approach is to wear things that I feel good in and not pay attention to. I love things that revolve around my favorite eras. I can enjoy someone else's style, but I don't have to dress like that.

KU: Tell me frankly, how long does it take for you to be ready to leave the house?

Dft: It depends on what I am doing. For example ... for a carpet runner? Two hours is enough for me. I need time to figure out what clothes to wear, to tidy up my hair and hair, to send a message, to switch the music on the player ... I shouldn't feel in a rush. But I definitely don't spend more than 30 minutes packing on a typical day. My usual everyday look is a light foundation, lipstick, mascara and a chignon in my hair. I can handle it all in 15 minutes. And the finished evening look will take me 40 minutes. We deliberately timed the time when I was writing my book about beauty. I curled my hair in 13 minutes! So I'm not spending as much time as it might seem. I just trained really well. After all, I've been wearing the same hairstyle and makeup since 1992!

KU: Ever bored of dyeing your blonde hair dark all the time? Will we ever see Dita Von Teese blonde?

Dft: I saw and remember myself as a blonde. And someday I'll be her again, but not now. There are too many blondes around now. I love my jet black hair and think I represent dark haired femme fatales, not blonde sex bombs. There are so many tanned blondes around and I will be a light-skinned brunette!

KU: You are an experienced traveler. Tell me, which city of all you have been, you can call the sexiest and why?

Dft: No matter where I go or what I see, Paris still tops my list of the sexiest cities in the world.

KU: How did your collaboration with Cointreau and their liqueur start?

Dft: Well, I always knew that I would eventually merge with the spirit of this brand. It was all predictable and logical, because everyone knows how much I love to swim with a giant cocktail glass. I received offers from many brands, but Cointreau was the only one whose philosophy I felt and who agreed with my vision of sexuality. I liked all the ideas that they offered me as a person of the company, as well as their attitude to incredible story brands and elegant style with a modern touch. This is also my approach to burlesque. This is awareness and loyalty to the era.

KU: Can you describe your show "Be Cointreauversial"? What can viewers expect from him?

Dft: It's the same Martini glass that made me famous, but that I reinvented for Cointreau! We wanted to do something inspired by the classic Cointreau bottle, play on this delightful shade of amber, add touches of orange, gold and a touch of purple. We even did research to see how the liqueur takes on this wonderful opal hue when poured onto ice. And we added crystals to the composition! We also wanted the look to be distinctly French, so the costume looks like a real 60s Foley Berger. This is definitely the most sophisticated costume I've ever worn, with hundreds of thousands of multi-colored cut Swarovski crystals and these amazing designer feathers from Belgium. I even remade a classic French anthem into music for my striptease!

KU: Uncover a few secrets of becoming a burlesque goddess at home?

Dft: 1. Take time for yourself. It doesn't have to be expensive at all. A candlelit bath with aromatic oils and foam is one example of inexpensive body care.

2. Try on a new hairstyle or makeup. Play and fantasize! Perhaps you will find your new one or just have a great time.

3. Buy underwear that is both sexy and comfortable at the same time. It's quite possible these days, so let go of the stereotypes that comfort is always boring. Lots of brands make amazing items that can be worn every day.

4. Don't spare your pretty dating lingerie, wear it, just wear it for yourself!

5. Learn to make luxurious cocktails at home. I love making Cointropolitan and Margarita. It's easy, fun and will impress others!

Who is she?

Dita Von Teese ( the real name of the actress Heather Rene Sweet) became widely known as a dancer in the early 90s, thanks to the originality of striptease performance. Her mastery of classical dance, to some extent, contributed to her success as a model.

But Dita's main achievement is her inimitable femininity and plasticity, multiplied by her irrepressible imagination, which allowed her to bring unsurpassed originality to each number she performs.

In addition, she created her own vintage style in erotic dance costumes. Corset, long gloves, stockings - these are the distinctive features of Dita von Teese's style.

The images of the style of the 30s and 40s of the last century created by her made it possible to give a second life to the seemingly gone burlesque style. The burlesque revived by her did not just make Dita out of famous actress, but a real favorite of the public.

Burlesque theater show

The word "burlesque" comes from the Italian word burla (joke). The burlesque style is a type of theatrical performance. His homeland is old Europe.

The style combines elements of cabaret, vaudeville and musical. It emerged in the 19th century as a comedic adaptation of serious works. Dancers pulled themselves into corsets, put on stockings, adorned themselves with feathers. The action took place in a playful but decent manner. The Moulin Rouge in Paris is the brightest and most famous burlesque of those years.

In the 20s of the last century, burlesque is gradually losing its popularity. It is practically replaced by a striptease - an attraction of undressing beauties, erected as muses.

The most famous burlesque dancer in those years was Mata Hari. During the "sexual revolution" in the 60s of the last century, dancers often performed completely naked.

Since the 90s of the past century, burlesque gradually returned to its original idea. This was facilitated by the films "Chicago" and "Moulin Rouge", as well as clips of such famous singers like Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Pink, filmed in this style.

Thanks to Heather Sweet, the style again entered the trend. Her famous dance in a martini glass brought him back to life and raised him on a wave of popularity. Girls around the world are trying to copy the style of the unrivaled queen of the new burlesque, her appearance.

However, for Dita, burlesque is not only a stage role, but also the style of her whole life.

The girl is compared to a porcelain doll: perfect figure, snow-white skin, red lips, flirtatious "front sight" near the left eye ... does not age, she seems to have stopped time and enjoys life. What is the beauty secret of the unsurpassed Burlesque Queen?

2. Yoga and swimming

The actress has long made a choice in favor of non-extreme physical activity, which does not cause any discomfort to the body. No mockery of your body. She doesn't want to be too thin and millions of fans all over the world love it madly.

According to the model, it is at this time that a person can be alone with himself and hear himself. Thanks to regular physical activity, her skin is always glowing and toned.

3. No tanning

Use sunscreen. This is the best advice, and any dermatologist will tell you that sun damage is the worst thing for your beauty. I use a cream with a small SPF in common days, and if I have to stay in the sun for a long time, I apply more significant protection.

The girl considers the sun to be the main enemy of her snow-white skin, so she never sunbathes. And in order to leave the house during the day, she needs a good reason. She is not ready to expose her skin to danger, so during the day she hides under a huge black umbrella and applies strong sunscreen to the parts of the body that are not hidden under her clothes. But in order to make such sacrifices, very serious reasons are needed, if they are not there, the girl goes out into the light only after the sun disappears behind the horizon.

4. Long sleep

Relaxing in nightclubs until the morning is definitely not about Dita Von Teese. Even at the most elite parties, where all the cream of Hollywood gathers, you rarely see a girl after midnight. Instead, she chooses a deep and long sleep.
So that the skin has healthy color and shone, you just need to get enough sleep. After all, if you sleep 5 hours a day, the skin will not have time to recover, which will cause the appearance of edema and bruises under the eyes.

5. No folk recipes

The striptease star is convinced that each specialist must do their job. Therefore, all skin problems - rashes, acne, wrinkles - should be treated only by a professional beautician. You should not get carried away with self-medication, especially if you have the opportunity to go to a specialist.

Therefore, Dita Von Teese entrusts her skin to one of the most sought-after beauticians in Hollywood, whose name is kept secret. But, judging by the fact that the star always looks flawless, he works excellently.

But the make-up, allegedly, she does her legendary hairstyle in the style of the 30s, she also does herself. And she does not spend at all on a stylist - she cuts her hair in the most ordinary hairdresser located next to the house. Whether this is so or not, only the mysterious Dita von Teese herself knows.

The beauty secrets of the legendary actress and model are simple - do not exhaust yourself physical activity, eat right, get enough sleep, drink plenty of water, do not sunbathe and do not save on a beautician. And if you need to choose between an expensive stylist or a beautician, then she will choose the latter.

What should you eat to keep your skin fair? No skin lightening products.
But an overall healthy diet cleanses the skin. I'm a big fan of the "green cocktail smoothies" from Kimberly Snyder's book The Beauty Detox Solution, and I would say that after sticking to its principles as much as I could, I felt good. I drink smoothies every day for breakfast and sometimes for lunch. It changed my life and how I feel, and I know it helps a lot of people with skin. I am very fortunate to have genetically good skin and my only real problem is sensitivity and allergies, which sometimes cause rashes, dryness, etc.

Along with the green smoothies, I started changing my diet, eating green veggies during the day, and eating real food only at night. I said no to foods like white rice, bread, dairy products, potatoes (except sweet potatoes).
Her advice helped me with my stomach and gave me more energy.
But I don't do anything to brighten my skin other than using sunscreen and retinol at night to even out my complexion and prevent wrinkles.

Kimberly Snyder in The Beauty Detox Solution talks about some pretty harsh things, but she actually gave me advice on my lifestyle and travel. The main thing ... she admits that I like tea and I, for example, eat a little meat. A green cocktail is the most important thing, and moreover, it is important that it consists of 70% greens, and no more than 30% fruits.
I'm still trying to follow the food combination rules and I'm glad some days it's better to have cake for dessert than fruit! Fruits after meals from protein / starch are enemies of digestion! So the good news ... fruit isn't the best option for dessert, if you have one, just eat the damn chocolate!
And also, she says, vodka is better than wine if you have to drink!
Milk. Almond milk is much better than soy milk. There is a lot of research that soy is very harmful. Kimberly immediately told me to remove all soy products from my diet. Coconut milk yogurt is the only one really good option yoghurt, but I've never seen it in Europe. If you can get your hands on almond or coconut milk, that's the best there is. I use almond milk for everything: soups, desserts, baked goods.
Dairy products are evil ... I only allow myself to eat one extraordinarily tasty cheese! Isn't it strange that humans are the only ones who drink other types of milk? Personally, I did not drink milk even as a child. According to my mom, I have always rejected him.

Meals during the show. During the tours I eat light food, a lot of protein, no chl :) and desserts! I had to eat very modestly in Paris to conserve my energy, prevent bloating, and not gain weight so that I could wear Mr. Pearl's lace corset, which has very specific parameters.
Basically, when I woke up, I had breakfast for about 2 days, and I ate a very small amount of food before the show started, and then ate some more before the second show. The real dinner was after the concert.
Food is very, very important and I never skip meals. If I don’t eat, my mind becomes cloudy and I cannot remember the choreography elements, so I always eat.
But, being in Paris, I try not to eat bread and dessert, but this is not an easy task.
Favorite tea. I am a regular customer at Mariages Freres, they all know me! I have a huge collection of teas and at home, and here in Paris. I usually drink green tea like Buddha Bleu, Vert Provence, all types of smoky teas (nice smoky flavor in the aroma). Last time I was there for a magazine shoot and they gave me a big gift set with smoky earl gray jelly tea.

I also have white rose tea and Falling in love tea and I try to get a new one almost every time I visit them. I love wedding tea, the violette tea, the magnolia tea, all flower teas.
My latest discovery is green tea, a spoon of which must be put in a cup, and you must drink it through a metal or silver strainer / straw, it is so elegant! He's my new favorite!

Burlesque star Dita von Teese has long and very successfully personified retro beauty and well-honed, perfect glamorous style. It's hard to imagine her without red lipstick, 50s hairstyles, heels and elegant outfits. Nevertheless, sometimes even the diva relaxes and is happy to talk about how she manages to look so perfect.

Do you have beauty secrets?

I am convinced that beauty depends entirely on the health that is achieved proper nutrition and exercise. Often when it comes to beauty, people associate it with some kind of magic face cream, while the most important thing is to take care of what's inside. For example, I don't spend a day without green smoothies - they are just magical!

Who is a beauty icon for you?

Women who made themselves. In the 50s and 60s, there were many of them. Take supermodel Lisa Fonssagreaves, wife of the legendary Irwin Penn. In those days, models knew how to put on makeup to make their faces look perfect. Modern models, alas, know nothing about this.

Are there people in the modern world whose beauty you admire?

Have there been moments of dissatisfaction with your appearance in your life?

Of course. Sometimes this was due to the fact that I was forced to participate in the filming, where they tried to change my image. For example, they painted me differently or asked me not to use red lipstick. Some stylists and photographers believe that they can open some new facets in my image, while I am convinced that what is done under the stick cannot bring any pleasure.

But you don't always wear that makeup, do you?

Of course not. In the company of people close to me, I often wear makeup in a completely different way. I love this game: you barely use makeup and you become so vulnerable ...

Nevertheless, in public, you are always flawless. How do you do it?

I always try to do everything myself. In terms of makeup and hair. I don't really like working with stylists and makeup artists - I just don't want to depend on them. It seems to me that there is nothing difficult in learning to paint perfectly, studying your old pictures and seeing all your flaws. Now I am writing a book about beauty, where the main message is: you can achieve everything on your own, the main thing is to learn. I think it will be interesting for young girls who look at beauties from the red carpets, but have no idea how they get that way.

What kind of cosmetics do you like?

Since now I represent the Artdeco brand, I can say that this cosmetics is completely in my style: it is quite classic, but with splashes bright colors such as fuchsia and orange. And, of course, my favorite product is red lipstick. Without her, nowhere.
