The village began to settle, mainly servilative people - the descendants of Sagittarov, Pushkje and Cossacks, as well as the Odnodvores peasants. Another version explains the origin of the name from Mordovsky Lipyaga - Sand, first mentioned in archival documents of 1685.

In May 1739, the rebellion of the peasants broke out on the territory of modern, the center of which Mordowo became. He headed the uprising a resident of the village of Demente Maksimovich Zarubin. The cause of peasant unrest was the reluctance of peasant-monodvorstsev to carry some state-friendly. In addition to cash payments and a natural tax, the peasants were to bear military service, raging the Ukrainian defensive line created in the 1730s. The male population did not want to leave the native homes, leaving without the breadwinner their families, condemning them to beanish existence. In the autumn of 1939, the uprising was suppressed, but D. M. Zarubin managed to hide. In March 1741, Zarubin was still arrested. Dementy Zarubin with nineteen comrades were sentenced to death.

The construction of a brick church in the village of Mordovo began in the second half of the XIX century, since the former church did not accommodate all the parishioners (at that time there were 1200 yards in Mordovoy). The church is completed with construction and consecrated in 1909. The huge temple building accommodates up to 5,000 praying and is one of the largest in the Tambov region. The painting of the walls in the interior of the temple did not succeed because of the World War I began soon - there was not enough funds to the inner finish. The decoration of the temple is a ceramic iconostasis, delivered in 1890 from the Moscow region of the Novo-Jerusalem Monastery. Ceramic iconostasis of this size is unique to Russia.

The temple was closed in 1939, adapted under the grain. However, Mordov's believers did not allow the penetration of economic premises in the Altar of the Church, extinguishing him from the rest of the room. The temple also intended to blow up, but who arrived with the inspection officer wrote in the conclusion that the explosion could damage the neighboring houses and the school building (the former church-parish church), and thus saved the church from destruction. During the Great Patriotic War in the temple there was a hospital. In the hygienic purposes, the walls were whitening lime, while some icons are damaged.

In 1945, the temple building was returned to believers. Then the Tambov diocese was ruled by Archbishop Luka (Waro-Yasenetsky). The temple was restored to the 1000th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia. Currently, there is slow, the lack of funds, the restoration of the building. The Mikhail Arkhangelsk Temple was laid back in 1859, its construction continued for 20 years. The building is a large five-Russian monumental construction in ancient Russian style. The abode is made in the shape of a ship, which is a symbol of salvation of lost shower. In the inner decoration of the temple, a large number of all kinds of decorative elements prevail. The main decoration of it is considered a unique porcelain iconostasis, which is characterized by large sizes. Additional uniqueness creates special forms of kokoshnikov.

The church was consecrated only in 1909, after which they began to conduct worship. During the time of worm, the service did not stop. In 1939, the monastery was closed, it began to be used as a granary. During the Patriotic War in the church building, a military hospital is located. In 1945, the church opened its doors again for believers.

To date, the Mikhail-Arkhangelsk temple mainly consists of a stone, although its foundation was originally the wall material. A complete reconstruction of the structure has been carried out.

In the fantastically picturesque panorama of the fragrant greenery, Mordovo sat with his cozy one-story buildings, modest in size and decoration, attracts attention to the majestic and delightful church in honor of the Holy ArchReart of God Mikhail and other heavenly forces of obsolete.

The wooden Archangel Church, erected in the XVIII century, burned down during a fire in April 1858, so a new epiced wooden temple is built in the village. Time passes, and the parishioners decide to build, instead of a small temple, which was cracked for the ever-increasing Orthodox community (he did not particularly accommodate everyone elsewhere on holidays), a huge stone temple with a capacity of up to 5,000 people praying at the same time. It was announced a collection of funds for the construction of a handsome-church in a distant Mordowo, which was carried out in 1909.

The Church of Archangel Mikhail was built as 20 years old. It is worth saying that the brick was manufactured at the local brick factory, specially built to build a shrine. The project of the future church was approved by the famous provincial architects A. F. Mirolyubov and F. A. Svirchevsky. The temple turned out to be a red-winged, five-chapted, with a low-refrapping three-tier tent bell tower. The temple is made in the form of a ship, symbolizing salvation in a quiet pier of lost and knocked down in the road. The internal decoration of the church, the famous Moscow icon painter Mikhail Dikarev was engaged in painting. And he, allegedly, became the creator of the sketches of the rarest in Russia of the Fayansovsky iconostasis established in the temple of one of the most remote villages of the Tambov province. It is believed that the iconostasis was intended for the near Moscow temple in the Novo-Jerusalem monastery, but then for unknown reasons hit the church in Mordovo. There are several more versions of the appearance of the iconostasis on Tambov Earth. For one of them, the art monument could be made according to original sketches at the Kharkov ceramic plant Bergendeum (what "says" the presence of a corporate ceramic tile, preserved at the entrance to the temple). According to another version, on a porcelain factory M. Kuznetsova, which is now called the Dullyvsky porcelain factory, or in Konakovo. The painting of the iconostasis in style is similar to Vasnetsov's work, it is possible that the great master or someone from his disciples of his circle will be created by the creation of unique images.

In the temple, three thrones: in the name of Mikhail Archangel, Flora and Lavra and Pitirim Tambovsky. Even in dashing, the godless 20s in the church was held, and only in 1939 it was closed. The fate was intended to become a granaries. Iconostasis, covered with sand, but the fell apart by believers is a small screen, it suffered little. The temple was also unmeared to blow up, but arrived with the verification of the Commission, after inspecting the building and the adjacent territory in conclusion, the Senior Commissioner wrote that the explosion could damage the neighboring houses and the school building (formerly church-parish school), and thus it saved the church from destruction.

During the Great Patriotic War in the temple there was a hospital. January 11, 1945, thanks to the troubles of believers and the efforts of the Archbishop of Tambov and Michurinsky Luke (War-Yasenetsky), the temple was opened and worship began in it. It is curious that when after graduating from the Great Patriotic War at the Orthodox congress, the question of the return of the Church of the relics of St. Pitirim from the local history museum was considered, where they were kept, it was proposed to transfer them from Tambov to the Arkhangelsk Temple of Mordowo.

A large amount of restoration and restoration work was performed to the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia. In 1993, the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia of Alexy visited the Mikhailo Archangel Temple and committed Divine Liturgy. Now the temple in Mordovo with his porcelain iconostasis is considered one of the most unique rural temples of Russia. The Church of Archangel Michael in Mordovo represented the Tambov region in the project "Russia 10", organized by the Russian Geographical Society with the support of the TV channel VGTRK.

From the map-guidebook "Attractions of the Tambov region", 2019.

And now, my friends, I invite you a little stroll along the Tambov region. We are going to P. Mordovo, watch Mikhailo Arkhangelsk Temple.
To begin with, a small reference, as usual.

Mikhailo Arkhangelsk Temple was laid in 1859.
The first church in the village of Mordowo acted already in the 1930s of the 19th century. However, for a large trading village, 1200 houses, which was then Mordovo, one church was not enough, so the Mordovian rural society decided to build another temple in the village, the project, which was approved by the famous provincial architects A.F. Mirolyubov and F.A. Swirlchevsky. The construction of the church was completed in 1909 under the Tambov bishop of Innokentia (Belyaev). It was built 20 years.
The temple turned out to be glory, monumental, spacious five-core, with tent heads, with three semicircular altar apsides and bell tower. "An old Russian flavor was brightly manifested in the decoration of the church, the traditional forms of wooden architecture passed into the stone. A skillful variety of decorative details, the original forms of Kokoshnikov and the ornamental pattern of the Arkhangelsk Church create a cheerful festivity. The temple makes a strong impression on the visitor to his spaciousness and abundance of light." (V. Kucchenkova. Shynes of the Tambov Diocese. M.: Publishing Department of the Moscow Patriarchate. 1993, p.89).
Currently, the Mikhailo Archangel Temple is the only operating church in the Mordovian area. But I think it is enough - the capacity of the temple is no, no 5,000 people.
Sleanned temple with his iconostasis. The iconostasis of lateral adhesives are made by the famous Master DiCarev. The iconostasis of the central throne, consecrated in honor of Archangel Mikhail, was established in 1890 and was delivered from the Moscow Region of the Novo-Jerusalem Monastery. This iconostasis is unique - it is made of porcelain and is the only iconostasis of this kind in Russia. (According to some sources, not the only but rare).
Time spared the temple. In 1939, the temple was closed by the decision of the Executive Committee of the regional council of workers' deputies and was used as a granary of the State Quantity Fund. During the Great Patriotic War in the temple, the hospital was signed. By order of January 11, 1945, the temple was opened and worshius began in it (which continues to this day). He managed the Tambov diocese at the time Archbishop Luka (war-Yasenetsky). Mikhailo Arkhangelsk Temma managed to save some icons . The large amount of restoration and restoration work was performed after the 1000th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia. In 1993, the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Mikhailo Arkhangelsky Temple, visited the Divine Liturgy in it. Repeatedly served in the temple of Archbishop Tambov and Michurinsky Evgeny.

In Mordovo, we arrived at a cloudy warm autumn day. Slightly laid down. The village himself surprised pleasantly, cute, well-groomed, many freshly built and renovated houses. Maybe of course, the area was lucky, but nevertheless, the eye was pleased.
The temple was looking for a short time, which is not surprising. Its dimensions are really amazed. In addition, Mikhailo Archangel Temple, my taste, quite and very beautiful. Even the sky with gray clouds did not spoil the picture.

Walking around the temple around, we went inside and got straight to the service. People were a bit. The father served well, very clean (I rarely go to church and I have about the service "Penalty" - I love to understand what they say, even if Church Slavonic).
Despite the huge size of the room, the atmosphere in the temple was very cozy and soothing. And immediately became somehow warm, I would say, threw in the heat. I, in general, Nature is not so impressionable, not at all sorts of places I react. For me, this place immediately became special.
Alternatively, the altar himself was not removed. Therefore, I offer photos from the network - admire.
