  • very warm water (average sea temperature fluctuates around + 22 ° С);
  • a huge amount of fruits in local markets.

Early fall is a great time for those looking for more peace and privacy.

However, Crimea at the end of September has its own charms:

  • The even, calm Indian summer weather lasts here until about the end of October.
  • All this time, you can not only sunbathe, but also swim: the water temperature does not drop below 20 degrees.

Crimea- outlines reminiscent of a bunch of grapes, a peninsula, embraced by sea waters. Crimea unites the famous resorts of the Black Sea and Azov regions. The eastern coast of the peninsula is a series of rocky capes and cozy bays, along the edge of which juniper forests grow, the southern coast is a chain of resort villages of Alushta and Yalta with princely and imperial palaces in the shade of Mediterranean parks, while the western coast is associated with wide sandy beaches of the Kalamitsky Bay, brine and curative mud of the Saki and Evpatoria resorts.

The Crimean Peninsula is a resort region with a rich history. For centuries, the land of the sun, sea and mountains has attracted representatives of different peoples, which is why in the Crimean resorts you can see the ruins of ancient Greek policies, Genoese fortresses and khan's palaces. The natural potential of the peninsula did not go unnoticed in the Russian Empire either - in the 19th century, mud baths were opened on Lake Saki, and the royal paths of Livadia and Gaspra were laid. And today Crimea remains one of the leading resort regions - comfortable resort hotels and modern health centers are lined up along the sandy and pebble beaches of the peninsula.

Geography

The Crimean peninsula is located in the southwestern part of Russia, more than 1,300 km from the capital. The narrow Kerch Strait separates it from the Taman Peninsula - the western end of the Krasnodar Territory. The peninsula is washed by the waters of the Azov and Black Seas. From the west and east, wide ledges of the Tarkhankut and Kerch peninsulas cut into the water surface.

The relief of Crimea is heterogeneous. A ridge of mountains divided it into a western plain and an eastern mountainous part. The mountains stretch from Feodosia to Sevastopol in three parallel ridges, in the folds of which flowering valleys are hidden. The famous Crimean peaks Chatyr-Dag and Ai-Petri are located on the Main ridge. Many mountains are crowned with undulating treeless plateaus called yayla. To the east of the Crimean Mountains, there are flat steppes.

The coastline of the Crimean Peninsula is heavily indented by bays and bays. The largest bays on the Black Sea coast are Feodosia, Kalamitsky and Karkinitsky. In the northeast, the Sea of Azov forms the Kazantip, Arabat and Sivash bays. Inland water bodies of the Crimean Peninsula are mountain rivers that form waterfalls, mountain lakes and estuary lakes, which serve as sources of therapeutic mud.

The flora of the Crimean peninsula is broad-leaved oak and beech forests growing on mountain slopes and steppes gilded by the sun. On the southern coast of Crimea, there are relict trees - tall juniper, pistachio and jasmine. The streets of the resorts are edged with Mediterranean flora - rows of cypresses and palms, thuja and plane trees. Juniper and Crimean pine grow on the rocky ledges. More than half of the peninsula is occupied by arable land and pastures, orchards and vineyards.

Climate

The territory of Crimea covers several climatic zones. The South Coast is a Mediterranean climate of dry subtropics, but most of Crimea (western and eastern coast) belongs to the region temperate latitudes... In addition, there are areas of high mountains and plains with a continental climate, a zone of steppes.

Summer in Crimea is long, hot and sunny. The season starts in mid-May and lasts until mid-October. Daytime temperatures in July often reach 30 ° C. Winter in Crimea is warm. The temperature, as a rule, does not drop below 0 ° С, and on some fine days it can reach 10-15 ° С. This time of the year has the greatest amount of precipitation.

Traditionally, the best period for recreation in Crimea is considered the "velvet season" - September-early October. At this time it is not as hot as in summer, the sea is warm and the weather is sunny.

Time

Crimea lives according to Moscow time. Time zone - MSK (UTC + 3).

Population

According to 2017 estimates, the population of the Crimean Peninsula was 2,340,921 permanent residents (with Sevastopol). Representatives of 175 nationalities live on the peninsula. The most common of them are Russians, Ukrainians, Crimean Tatars, Belarusians, Armenians, Karaites.

Sandy beaches stretch through the resorts of Saki, Evpatoria, Cape Tarkhankut and Black Sea. It is convenient to enter the water here with a gradual increase in depth, which makes the resorts of the Western Coast of Crimea a popular place for families with children.

The beaches of the east coast are sand and gravel with small shell rock. There are such resorts as Feodosia, Koktebel, Sudak and Novy Svet. The southern coast of Crimea - a chain of famous Alushta and Yalta beaches - Professor's Corner, Massandra, Livadia are covered with small pebbles.

In the north-east of the peninsula there are sandy beaches of the Kazantip and Arabat bays washed by the waters of the Azov Sea.

Wellness holiday... Crimea has a rich heritage of spa treatment. Saki and Evpatoria became the world's first mud cure resorts, and the healing mud of Saki Lake is used in sanatoriums in many countries of the world. There are mineral water springs on the peninsula, and the abundance of sunlight, clean air, saturated with phytoncides of plants and sea salts, served to create in the region a developed network of sanatoriums, boarding houses and a holiday home with treatment, children's health camps.

In recent years, the resort infrastructure of Crimea has been replenished with modern health complexes and spa hotels, in which, along with balneotherapy, mud therapy, massage and hardware techniques, spa services, cosmetic procedures, thalassotherapy and Ayurveda are implemented.

Cognitive, excursion tourism... The peninsula is surrounded by hundreds of excursion routes. Each major resort in Crimea can boast of historical, architectural and natural monuments. The ruins of ancient fortresses stretch along the eastern shores of the peninsula, in Yalta and Alushta there are royal palaces and residences, botanical gardens and parks, in Sevastopol there are memorials and museums, on the west coast there are ancient streets of Little Jerusalem, and in the very heart of the peninsula is Bakhchisarai.

Going on vacation to Crimea in September is an idea that is even more inspiring and rational than a vacation at one of the peninsula's resorts in the summer. In the first month of autumn it is amazing here - warm days and cool evenings, high blue skies and a softly warming sun, clean clear water and half-empty beaches. The most real velvet season. And a September vacation here can be amazing - you just need to know where to go. However, this will be discussed now.

A trip to the hero city

Now, of course, we will talk about rest in the largest and most famous city of the peninsula. And this is Sevastopol - a cultural, tourist, recreational, scientific and technical center, which is also a historical settlement of federal significance in our country.

But now it's not about the status. Why, when planning a vacation in Crimea in September, is it worth going to Sevastopol? For the same reasons that many go there in the summer. You don't have to worry about the weather - the average temperature here in September is only 3-4 degrees lower than in August. The same goes for water.

Usually, if no sharp and prolonged cold snaps were observed during the year (which, in principle, is not typical for Sevastopol), then the velvet season can last until the end of September. But regarding the upcoming autumn, it is difficult to make any predictions, since in 2017 the weather was extremely changeable (which, however, affected not only Crimea). Although forecasters promise warmth, there may even be days that are not inferior in heat to July.

Where to stay?

There are both budget hotels and luxury hotels in Sevastopol. Some people who go on vacation to Crimea in September are especially interested in "all inclusive".

Well, for all inclusive - at Aquamarine Resort & SPA. This is a spa resort hotel located one minute from the beach. It has everything on its territory - from a nightclub and a water park to a beauty salon and luxurious restaurants. But the prices are also appropriate. An all-inclusive week will cost two guests 200,000 rubles if they stay in premium apartments. In an ordinary "suite" 7 days will cost 125 thousand rubles.

What about budget options? There are also guest houses in Sevastopol, where daily accommodation costs about 500-700 rubles for two. Moreover, they are located relatively close to the center and close to the sea.

Yalta

This is an equally popular and visited resort on the peninsula, also called the pearl of the Crimea. Here, as in Sevastopol, a subtropical climate reigns, only it is close to the arid Mediterranean, so this city is a little warmer in autumn.

Yalta should be considered as an option if you are planning a vacation in Crimea in September. After all, this is the South Coast, South Coast, the nature of which is difficult to describe in words. Autumn is very beautiful in Yalta. In addition, it is surrounded by a ridge of the Crimean mountains, close to the sea. And while here on vacation in September, you should definitely go on a hike to Ai-Petri, whose height is 1 234 m.

By the way, it is this mountain that is connected with the South Coast by a cable car, which is one of the longest unsupported flights in all of Europe.

Simeiz

Yalta South Coast is not limited. There are many interesting places where it is very beautiful in September. Rest in Crimea in the fall can be spent in Simeiz, located not far from Yalta. It is a small, cozy and picturesque urban-type settlement located at the foot of Mount Koshka.

There are few attractions here. But the town is very loved by both locals and visitors. There is something atmospheric in it - bizarre coastal rocks, a characteristic curved coastline, cozy streets, narrow stone stairs. And a distinctive feature of Simeiz is numerous descents, ascents and winding paths, following which you can go to the sea, to the forest, or unexpectedly find a secluded place hidden from prying eyes, from where an amazing view of the surroundings opens.

In autumn, it will appeal to those who dream of a quiet and secluded vacation in a place with a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Streets and beaches become deserted, most of the souvenir stalls disappear somewhere, and cafes designed for holidaymakers are closing. In general, a real paradise for people who want peace and tranquility.

Zander

This is a completely unique climatic resort located in the southeastern part of the peninsula, which annually attracts thousands of tourists with an abundance of attractions and its rich history. Besides, the nature here is amazing. The pike perch is located in a natural mountain bowl, which is completely overgrown with juniper and beech trees.

The velvet season, which begins in September, is a new breath of beach holidays in Sudak. But, since the summer is over, prices are falling by 20-25%, and there are fewer people on the streets.

It should be noted that Sudak is an ideal option for people who prefer a vacation in September in the private sector. In Crimea, in the overwhelming majority of resort towns, tourists stay in hotels. But in Sudak, the best option is the private sector. There are about ~ 150 cozy guest houses for every taste and color. For a very reasonable price, you can rent both a cottage with several rooms and a separate room - many mansions have been converted by the owners into mini-hotels.

The average daily cost of a house in September with a capacity of 4 people is 2000-3000 rubles.

Tarkhankut

This place should be visited by every self-respecting tourist. Why is the best vacation in Crimea in September on Tarkhankut? Well, there are several answers to this question.

Firstly, it is in the area of this cape that the water is crystal clear. After all, there are no rivers nearby or any other sources flowing into the sea. For this reason, they even host underwater photography competitions.

Secondly, all the attractions that are here are natural. These are the Chalice of Love (a natural pool in the shape of a heart), the longest overwater through-water grotto in the rock in Europe, a unique underwater museum, the Great Arch, rocks in the form of living creatures, etc.

The nuances of rest on the cape

If you want to explore all the interesting places in Tarkhankute, it is better to come here in September or October, because at this time it is more or less cool (compared to summer). In summer, when hell reigns, you simply won't be able to enjoy all the interesting places - it's too hot, you can burn out, get heatstroke and exhaustion.

You just need to know that not everyone will like it on Tarkhankut to spend their holidays in Crimea in September. Reviews confirm this. Tarkhankut is a place adored by extremists and connoisseurs of an active lifestyle, those who are not afraid of natural obstacles and the elements, and are also ready to exchange a hotel room for a tent by the sea. Most of those who come here are youth companies, as well as people who consider the usual sunbathing on the beach and swimming in the sea boredom, and not a vacation.

Evpatoria

It is impossible not to mention this city. Evpatoria is a great resort for people who are interested in rest in Crimea in September with children. Some people also call it an analogue of Anapa and a children's health resort.

There are indeed many sanatoriums and health resorts for kids and their parents. In addition, such a "focus" of the resort is determined by its climate. Evpatoria is characterized by dry steppe air and, of course, the proximity of the sea. Therefore, many people come here for the prevention of colds. Ailments associated with the musculoskeletal system are also treated in many boarding houses. Moreover, valuable Saka mud and those that are mined in Lake Moinak are used for this.

Why is it worth going here in September? Because this is the beginning of the low season, characterized by falling prices. And the water temperature does not drop below 23 ° C, as the strait is constantly warming up.

Boarding houses

Many travelers who intend to visit the peninsula in autumn decide to spend their holidays in Crimea in September in a boarding house. There are a lot of them here. Therefore, at the end of the story, it is worth listing the three best, according to travelers.

  • Pension "Neva" is located in Alushta. It has its own beach and a park with magnolias, olives, almonds, cherry laurels, sequoias, cedars and laurels.
  • Pension "Brigantina" is located in Feodosia. A modern and elite complex, landscaping and landscape of which will not leave anyone indifferent. Suitable for a romantic getaway for two or for a family vacation with children.
  • Pension "Lake of Dreams", located in Evpatoria. It is located in a unique place where the air is enriched with ozone, sodium chloride, magnesium, calcium and particles of bromine salts. The boarding house, like the adjacent territory, was built from environmentally friendly materials.

In conclusion, I would like to say that in Crimea there are a lot of interesting, noteworthy places, for enjoying which autumn is the ideal time of the year.

In September, the long-awaited time begins in Crimea - the velvet season, when it is warm, but not hot anymore, and it is pleasant to swim in the sea, warmed up over the summer. There are a couple more advantages to rest in early autumn: there are noticeably fewer vacationers, and more moderate prices. Find out on the Tour-Calendar why many consider Crimea in September as the best time to relax on the peninsula!

Weather in Crimea in September

Compared to August, in Crimea in September it becomes much more pleasant - the heat recedes, warm days come to replace without the suffocating heat, the air is clean and transparent, and the sea is still warm. The thermometer in Crimea at the beginning of autumn is kept around +23 degrees, but on especially sunny days it can rise to +30 degrees. It also happens the other way around, when it gets cool for a few days and it rains. This usually happens around September 5-10, after which the so-called velvet season is established.

Of course, this does not always happen, because the weather has its own laws, especially in autumn. At night, the air temperature at the beginning of the month is around +15 degrees, and towards the end it becomes even cooler, so in the evening you often have to warm yourself.

The weather in September in Crimea is perfect both for relaxing on the beach and for long walks in the mountains, excursions, sightseeing. In addition, there is an abundance of fruits, and prices for them, like everything else, are beginning to fall, the reason for this is a sharp decline in the number of tourists.

Beach vacation

Finally, September has come and the beaches of Crimea are slowly being freed from vacationers, because most of them are families with children or students whose school year has begun. Closer to the middle, and especially the end of September, even on the city beaches there are very few people, and on the wild beach you can swim almost alone. The sea, warmed up over the summer, is still warm throughout September.

Another thing is that one day swimming can be uncomfortable because of the wind or just cold weather - in September this happens. The average water temperature in the Black Sea at the beginning of September is about +23 .. + 24, and by the end of the month it usually cools down to + 20 .. 22 degrees. Moreover, the sea is usually warmer on the southern coast of the Crimea at such resorts as, but year after year is not necessary.

Entertainment and excursions

September in Crimea is the beginning of the velvet season, and it is a pleasure to have a rest at this time. This is the only month of the year when a full-fledged beach vacation can be combined with long walks and excursions - the heat is no longer a hindrance, although occasionally rain or a slight cold snap can spoil the picture. In the first half of September, all entertainment establishments are still working at full capacity, but towards the end of the month the rental of water skis, catamarans and other water activities stops working on the beaches, and some discos, dolphinariums, and water parks may also close.

Holidays and festivals

Crimea in September still pleases with all sorts of holidays and festivals, however, in comparison with the summer months, their number is decreasing. The month begins with the festival of ethnocultural creativity of the peoples of Crimea and southern Ukraine "Chumatsky Shlyakh", usually held in Evpatoria. And in Yalta, the international theatrical art festival "THEATER. CHEKHOV. YALTA" is being read, during which theaters from all over the world perform performances. The Stars of the Planet International Classical Music Festival is also held here. Who loves honey products, or is interested in beekeeping - welcome to Alushta to the international honey festival "Crimean Meetings". Recently, an international wine festival "WineFeoFest" has been organized in Feodosia, where the atmosphere of celebration and fun reigns. Please note that after the annexation of Crimea to Russia, some events may not take place, so check the calendar of events in Crimea according to local posters.
