In a child, you can most often find sores in the mouth of two types, they differ in appearance. However, all these are just varieties of the same disease - stomatitis - inflammation of the oral mucosa. Red sores are characteristic of herpetic stomatitis, which, as the name implies, is caused by the herpes virus. A child who has this disease becomes moody, cries a lot, refuses to eat.

Sores in the mouth can reach quite large sizes, often exceeding 2-3 millimeters. In especially advanced cases, the sizes can be even larger. At the same time, together with inflammation of the oral cavity, there is an increased body temperature, an increase in lymph nodes.

Treatment is based on taking antiviral drugs. It is important that this process takes place under the strict supervision of a pediatrician. In addition to taking medications, you can rinse your mouth with decoctions of plants such as sage, chamomile, plantain, string and others. They are anti-inflammatory and promote healing of ulcers. In order to avoid the damage that a sore in the mouth can undergo due to the mechanical effect of food, you need to pay attention to the child's diet. It is recommended to limit yourself to soft or semi-liquid foods.

White sores in a child's mouth indicate that he has developed candidal stomatitis, popularly known as thrush. This disease, unlike herpetic stomatitis, is caused by fungal infections, not viral ones. Therefore, treatment predominantly consists of taking antifungal drugs. In addition to white sores, on the mucous membrane of the child's oral cavity, you can observe a white bloom that looks like cottage cheese.

For the treatment of this disease, it is also recommended, first of all, to contact a pediatrician, and then simply follow his advice. Usually in this case, a number of mouthwashes are prescribed, as well as ointments that have antifungal effect. You can also rinse your mouth with a baking soda solution, which has a detrimental effect on fungal microorganisms.

In both cases of stomatitis, an important role is played by the fact that they develop, first of all, in those children whose immunity is weakened. To prevent sores in the child's mouth from appearing, you need to monitor what food he consumes, how many vitamins it contains. After all, first of all, immunity is weakened when there is a lack of certain vitamins or microelements in the human diet. In addition, you need to ensure that the child is hygienic. This will reduce the risk of mouth infection.

Even if the child already has sores in the mouth, in addition to therapy directed specifically against these manifestations of the disease, it is necessary to take measures to strengthen the immune system.

For this, drugs such as Imudon or Interferon are used.

But it is better to use these medicines only after consulting a specialist, since side effects are possible.
