This prayer book is intended for people taking their first steps in the Church, for those who for some reason do not have the opportunity to learn and understand the Church Slavonic language. It included abbreviated morning and evening rules, succession and canon for Holy Communion, as well as a reminder for Holy Communion. All this is offered in an adequate translation from Church Slavonic into Russian. The Missionary Prayer Book has passed theological and philological examination. When compiling the prayer book, realizing the impossibility of preserving the divine beauty of Church Slavonic poetry, the compiler was guided by the desire to convey the meaning of the prayers as accurately as possible. In the future, you, dear reader of the Lord, will need a complete prayer book, which is used by the majority of Orthodox Christians. The choice of translation was carried out on a large number of sources, the main one of which was the book “Prayers and Chants Orthodox prayer book with translation into Russian, explanations and notes by Nikolai Nakhimov. Kyiv: Prologue, 2003". Orthodox prayers in Russian - molrus.narod.ru

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy, and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my iniquities. Wash me often from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I am aware of my iniquities, and my sin is always before me. I have sinned against You, the One, and have done evil in Your sight, so that You are righteous in Your judgment and pure in Your judgment. Behold, I was conceived in iniquity, and my mother gave birth to me in sin. But, behold, You loved righteousness and revealed to me the hidden secret of Your wisdom. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me and I will whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness, and the broken bones will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Give me back my joy hope Strengthen me for salvation through You and the sovereign Spirit. I will teach the wicked Your ways, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from spills Bloody God, God of my salvation, and my tongue will praise Your righteousness. God! Open my mouth, and my mouth will declare Your praise: for You do not desire sacrifice, I would give it; You do not favor burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a contrite spirit; You will not reject a contrite and humble heart, O God. Do good, God, by Thy favor is Zion, and may the walls of Jerusalem be erected. Then the sacrifices of righteousness, the wave offerings and the burnt offerings will be acceptable to You; Then they will place bullocks on Your altar.

Psalm 22

The Lord is my Shepherd, and I will lack for nothing: He has made me live in green pastures and leads me beside still waters; strengthens my soul, guides me on the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. If I go and through the valley grim death, I will fear no evil, because You are with me; Your rod and Your staff - they calm me. You prepared a table before me in the presence of my enemies, you anointed my head with oil; Your cup fills me with the wine of wisdom, so it makes you even more sober, raising your mind to You. And mercy Yours He will accompany me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for many days.

Psalm 23

The Lord's earth and everything that fills it, the universe and everything living in it. He founded it on the seas, and established it on the rivers. Who will ascend to the mountain of the Lord or who will stand in His holy place? One whose hands are innocent and whose heart is pure, who has not sworn falsely to his neighbor, he will receive blessings from the Lord and mercy from God his Savior. This is the generation of those who seek the Lord, looking for faces God of Jacob! Lift up your heights, O gates, and rise up, O eternal doors, and the King of Glory will enter! Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. How can I, unworthy, dare to partake of Your holy things? Cleanse, Lord, the filth of my soul and save me, as a Lover of mankind.

Collector of wealth, look at the one who hanged himself because of them! Avoid greed: this is what the greedy dared to do to the Teacher Lord, who surpasses all in mercy, glory to You!)

Lord have mercy. (40 times) . (And bows as much as you want).

Human! Intending to taste the Body of the Lord, approach with fear, so as not to be scorched: for this is fire. Drink the divine blood for Communion, first make peace with those who have offended you, and then boldly partake of the mystical food. Before Communion of the terrible sacrifice of the life-giving body of the Lord, pray with trepidation as follows :

First prayer, St. Basil the Great

Master, Lord Jesus Christ, our God, Source of life and immortality, Creator of all creation, visible and invisible, of the Beginningless Father, also the eternal and also the beginningless Son! According to Your excessive goodness in last days incarnate, crucified and buried for us, the ungrateful and evil-willed, and with Your blood you renewed our nature, corrupted by sin. You Yourself, immortal King, accept my repentance, a sinner; incline Your ear to me and hear my words. For I have sinned, Lord, I have sinned against heaven and before You, and I am not worthy to lift up my eyes to heavenly the height of Your glory; for I have angered Thy goodness, having transgressed Thy commandments and not obeyed Thy commandments. But You, Lord, gentle, long-suffering, and abundantly merciful, did not allow me to perish among my iniquities, waiting in every possible way for my conversion. For You said, O Lover of Mankind, through Your prophet, that You do not desire the death of a sinner, but that he should turn on the path of good and was alive. You do not want, O Lord, for the creation of Your hands to perish, and You do not find satisfaction in human destruction, but You want everyone to be saved and achieve the knowledge of the truth. Therefore, I, although I am not worthy of either heaven or earth, or this short-lived life itself, since I have enslaved myself entirely to sin and sensual pleasures and have defiled in itself Your Image, but, being Your creation and creation, I, unfortunate one, do not despair of my salvation and boldly resort to Your immeasurable mercy. Accept me, O Lord who loves mankind, as a harlot, as a thief, as a publican, as a prodigal son. And take it off me heavy burden sins - You, who takes upon yourself the sin of the world and heals human infirmities, - calling the weary and burdened to yourself and giving them peace, - who came to call not the righteous, but sinners to repentance. And cleanse me from all impurity of body and soul, and teach me to lead a holy life in fear of You, so that, by communing, with a clear testimony of my conscience, Your Holy Things, I may enter into unity with Your holy Body and Blood and have You living in me and abiding with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Oh, Lord Jesus Christ, my God! And may the communion of Your most pure and life-giving Mysteries not be a condemnation for me, and may I not become weak in soul and body from unworthy communion of them; but grant me, until my last breath, to partake of Your Holy Things, not as a condemnation, A into communion with the Holy Spirit, guidance into eternal life and a favorable response to the Last Judgment Yours, so that I, along with all Your chosen ones, may become a participant in the fullness of Your blessings, prepared by You, O Lord, for those who love You, in which You are glorified forever. Amen.

Second prayer, St. our father John Chrysostom

Lord, my God, I realize that I am unworthy and not prepared for You to enter under the roof of the dwelling of my soul, because it is all empty and in ruins, and there is no worthy place in me where to lay my head to You. But how You humbled Yourself for us, came down from high heavenly, so now descend to my insignificance. And how it pleased You to lie down in a cave, in a wordless manger animals, so deign to enter the manger of my reckless soul and my desecrated body. And just as You did not disdain to enter and take part in the evening with sinners in the house of Simon the leper, so deign to enter into the dwelling of my humble, leper and sinful soul. And just as You did not reject a harlot and sinner like me, who came and touched You, so also have mercy on me, a sinner, who comes and touches You. And just as You did not abhor her foul and unclean lips that kissed You, so do not abhor even more than hers my foul and unclean lips, my vile and unclean lips and my foul and even more unclean tongue. But let it be for me flaming coal of Your most holy Body and Your precious Blood for sanctification and enlightenment, for the health of my humble soul and body, for alleviating the burden of many of my sins, for protection from all devilish influences, for the elimination and curbing of my bad and harmful habits, for the mortification of passions, for success in Your Commandments, to the increase of Your divine grace, to the acquisition of Your Kingdom. For I come to You, Christ God, not as impudent, but as one who trusts in Your unspeakable mercy and so that, far separated from You, I am not kidnapped by a spiritual wolf. Therefore, I pray to You: as the only Saint, sanctify, O Lord, my soul and body, mind and heart, everything internal organs, and renew me all, and root the fear of You in my members, and make Your sanctification indelible in me. Be my helper and protector, guiding my life peacefully like a helmsman, may I be honored at the Court to stand at Your right hand with Your Saints, through the prayers and intercession of Your All-Pure Mother, Your disembodied servants and the Most Pure Powers and all the saints who have pleased You from eternity. Amen.

Third prayer, St. Simeon Metaphrastus

Lord, the only pure and immortal, inexpressibly Yours compassion and love for mankind, who took upon Himself all our complex nature from the pure virgin blood of Who supernaturally gave birth to You by the influx of the Holy Spirit, by the good pleasure of the eternal Father, Jesus Christ, the Wisdom of God, peace and power! You, who through Your assumed flesh accepted life-giving and saving sufferings: the cross, nails, death - kill my soul-destroying bodily passions. You, who by Your burial have devastated the kingdom of hell, bury my bad intentions with good thoughts and scatter the spirits of evil. You, to Your life-giving on the third day from the coffin having raised the fallen forefather by rebellion, raise me too, who have fallen into sin, giving me the means of repentance. You, by Your glorious ascension, have deified the received flesh and given it the honor of sitting at the right hand of the Father, deign me also, through the communion of Your holy Mysteries, to reach the right side of those who are being saved. You, who by the descent of the Comforter of the Spirit made Your holy disciples precious vessels, show me also to be the receptacle of His coming. You, who intend to come again to righteously judge the universe, deign to meet me, with all Your saints, You, my Judge and Creator, future on the clouds, so that I endlessly glorify and sing Your praises, with Your beginningless Father and Your All-Holy, Good and Life-giving Spirit, now and always and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer four, St. John of Damascus

Master, Lord Jesus Christ, our God, the only one who has the power to forgive people’s sins! As a merciful and lover of mankind, neglect all my sins, committed both consciously and unconsciously, and grant me, without being condemned, to partake of the divine, glorious, most pure and life-giving Mysteries, not to aggravate, nor torment, nor to multiply sins, but for purification, sanctification, as a deposit future life and the Kingdom, for protection, help and driving away enemies, for the destruction of many of my sins. For You are a merciful, compassionate and loving God, and to You we send up glory, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and always and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Fifth prayer, St. Basil the Great

I know, Lord, that I unworthily partake of Your most pure Body and Your precious Blood, and I am guilty, and I eat and drink my own condemnation, not distinguishing between Your Body and Blood, Christ and my God. But I, trusting in Your compassion, come to You, who said: “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.” Have mercy, O Lord, and do not expose me, a sinner, but deal with me according to Your mercy. And may this Shrine be for me for healing, cleansing, enlightenment, preservation and salvation, and for the sanctification of soul and body; to drive away every vision, evil deed and devilish influence manifested through thoughts in my members; for boldness before You and love for You, for the correction and affirmation of life in goodness, the growth of virtue and perfection, for the fulfillment of the commandments, for communion with the Holy Spirit, for guidance into eternal life, for a favorable response at Your terrible judgment, - not for condemnation or as punishment.

Prayer six, St. Simeon the New Theologian

From foul lips, from a vile heart, from an unclean tongue, from a defiled soul, accept prayer, my Christ, and do not reject me neither for my words, nor for the manifestation of my shameless character. Let me freely express what I want, my Christ; or better yet, teach me what I should do and say. I have sinned more than the harlot, who, having learned where You are and having bought peace, dared to come to anoint the feet of Your God, my Lord and Christ. Like her, who came from pure hearts, You have not rejected, do not disdain me, Christ! Allow me to hold and kiss Your feet and boldly anoint them with a stream of tears, like precious ointment. Wash me with your tears, cleanse me with them, Lord! Forgive my sins and grant me forgiveness. You know many of my evil deeds, you also know my ulcers, you see the scars from them; but you also know my faith, you see my zeal and hear my groans. Not a drop of tears, not even a particle of this drop, will be hidden from You, my God, my Creator, my Redeemer. Your eyes see what I have not completed, and in Your book You have written down what I have not yet done. Look at my humility, look at my suffering, and forgive me all my sins, O God of the Universe, so that with a pure heart, a trembling thought and a contrite soul, I may partake of Your most pure and most holy Mysteries, by which everyone who eats and drinks is revived and deified their with a pure heart. For You said, my Lord: “Whoever eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood abides in Me, and I in him.” And every word of my Lord and God is true; for, partaking of the divine and deifying Gifts, I am truly not alone, but with You, my Christ, with the Light shining like three suns and illuminating the world. Therefore, so that I would not be left alone, without You, the Giver of life, my breath, my life, my joy, the salvation of the world, I came to You, as You see, with tears and a contrite soul, and I beg you to give me deliverance from of my sins, without condemnation, to partake of Your life-giving, most pure Mysteries. May You remain, as You said, with me, the most unfortunate, so that the tempter does not insidiously kidnap me, seeing me deprived of Your grace, and leading me astray, do not take me away from Your deifying words. Therefore I fall to feet Yours and I ardently appeal to You: how You received the prodigal son and the harlot who came to You, so accept, O Merciful One, me, the prodigal and the vile, who now comes to You with a contrite soul. I know, my Savior, that no one has sinned before You like I have, or done what I have done. But I also know that neither the severity of sins nor the multitude of sins exceeds the great patience and extreme love for mankind of my God; but with merciful compassion You purify and enlighten those who ardently repent and introduce them to the light, abundantly imparting to them a part of Your Divinity and, which is strange to the Angels and to human thought, you often converse with them as with Your true friends. This gives me courage, inspires me, my Christ! And, trusting in Your rich benefits to us, with trembling joy, being grass, I partake of the Fire and - a strange miracle! - I don’t burn, being mysteriously watered by your grace, like in ancient times a thorn bush that burned and was not consumed. So, with a grateful thought, a grateful heart, with all my grateful soul and body, I worship, magnify and glorify You, my God, as blessed now and forever. Amen.

Seventh prayer, St. John Chrysostom

Let me go, forgive me, forgive me my sins, O God, with which I have sinned before You in word, deed, thought, voluntarily and involuntarily, consciously and unconsciously, forgive me everything, for You are good and a lover of mankind. And through the prayers of Your most pure Mother, Your spiritual servants and holy Powers, and all the saints who have pleased You from the beginning of the world, deign me to accept without condemnation Your holy and most pure Body and honorable Blood, for the healing of soul and body and for the cleansing of my evil thoughts: for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now, and always, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer eight, his

I am not worthy, Master Lord, for You to enter under the roof of my soul. But since You, O Lover of Mankind, want to live in me, I boldly approach. You command, and I will open the doors that You alone created, and You will enter with ordinary love for mankind, You will enter and enlighten my darkened mind. I believe that You will do this. For You did not leave the harlot who came to You with tears; He did not reject the repentant publican; He did not even drive away the robber who recognized You as the King; did not leave what he was, and the repentant persecutor Your Pavel; but to all who came to You with repentance, You gave a place in the host of Your friends, the only Blessed One, always, now and forever. Amen.

The ninth prayer, his

Lord Jesus Christ, my God, weaken, let go, have mercy and forgive me, a sinner, Thy unworthy and unworthy servant, all my mistakes, sins and falls that I have sinned against You from my youth to this day and hour: consciously or unconsciously , words or deeds, attractions, thoughts, aspirations and all my feelings. And through the prayers of the most pure, ever-virgin Mary, Your Mother, who gave birth to You without seed, the only firm hope, protection and salvation of me, grant me the ability to partake of Your most pure, eternal, saving and terrible Mysteries, without bringing upon myself condemnation, for the remission of sins and eternal life, to sanctification and enlightenment, to strength, healing and health of soul and body, to the extermination and complete destruction of my evil thoughts, thoughts and ideas, as well as unclean dreams, dark and evil spirits. For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, and the honor, and the worship, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and always and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer tenth, St. John of Damascus

I stand before the doors of Your temple, and after all I don’t leave bad thoughts. But You, Christ God, Who justified the publican and had mercy on the Canaanite woman and opened the doors of paradise to the thief, open Your humane heart to me and accept me, who comes and touches You as You accepted the harlot and the bleeding woman: for one, touching the hem of Your garment, immediately received healing; the other, hugging Your most pure feet, took with her the forgiveness of sins. And I, unfortunate one, deciding to accept Your entire Body, may I not burn; but accept me as You accepted those women, and enlighten the feelings of my soul, burning away my sinful guilts, with prayers without the seed of You who gave birth and heavenly powers. For blessed are You forever and ever. Amen.

Eleventh prayer, St. John Chrysostom

I believe, Lord, and confess that You are truly the Christ, the Son of the Living God, Who came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the first. I also believe that this is Your most pure Body and this is Your precious Blood itself. Therefore, I ask You: have mercy on me and forgive me my sins, voluntary and involuntary, which I have committed in word or deed, consciously or unconsciously; and deign me, without incurring condemnation, to partake of Your most pure Mysteries to receive forgiveness of sins and eternal life. Amen.

End of prayers

It is truly worthy to glorify You as the Mother of God, always Blessed and Immaculate, and the Mother of our God. We magnify You as the true Mother of God, who gave birth without illness to God the Word, worthy of greater honor than the Cherubim, and incomparably more glorious than the Seraphim.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Lord have mercy. (Thrice)

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother, our reverend and God-bearing fathers and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.

Immediately before Communion, if possible, recite to yourself the following verses of Symeon Metaphrast:

Here I begin to receive divine communion. Creator, do not burn me with communion! For You are the fire that burns the unworthy. But cleanse me from all uncleanness.

Then say:

never such kiss like Judas, but like the thief, I openly express my faith in You, saying: “Remember me, O Lord, in Your Kingdom!”

And the following verses:

Man, tremble at the sight of the divine Blood! She is a fire that burns the unworthy. The Body of God deifies and nourishes me: it deifies the spirit, incomprehensibly nourishes the mind.

Then the troparia:

You attracted me, Christ, with love and changed me with a holy desire for You. My sins have been consumed by immaterial fire, and I am worthy to sweetly enjoy You, so that I may glorify Your two comings with rejoicing.

How can I, unworthy, enter into the bright host of Your saints? After all, if I decide to enter the palace with them marriage, my clothes will give me away, because they are not the kind they wear to a wedding, and I will be bound and expelled by the Angels. Cleanse, Lord, the impurity of my soul and save me, as a Lover of mankind.

Also the prayer:

Master - Lover of mankind, Lord Jesus Christ, my God, may this Shrine be to me not as an accusation for my unworthiness, but as a cleansing of soul and body and as a pledge of future life and the Kingdom. It is good for me to cleave to God, to place my hope in the Lord for my salvation.

And again:

Receive me today as a participant in Your mystical Supper, Son of God, for I never I will not reveal secrets to Your enemies, nor will I give You such kiss like Judas, but like a thief, I openly express my faith in You, saying: Remember me, O Lord, in Your Kingdom!

PRAYERS AFTER HOLY COMMUNION

Glory to You, God! Glory to You, God! Glory to You, God!

Prayer of thanksgiving, first.

I thank You, Lord, my God, that You did not reject me, a sinner, but made me worthy to partake of Your Holy Things. I thank You that You have vouchsafed me, unworthy, to partake of Your most pure heavenly Gifts. But, Lord-Love of Mankind, who died for us and rose again and gave us these terrible life-giving Mysteries for the benefit and sanctification of our souls and bodies, make them also for me to heal my soul and body, to repel every enemy, to enlighten the eyes of my heart, into the peace of my spiritual strength, into firm faith, into unfeigned love, into the enlightenment of the mind, into the observance of Thy commandments, into the increase of Thy divine grace and into the acquisition of Thy Kingdom; so that, being preserved by them in purity before You, I will always remember Your mercy and live no longer for myself, but for You, our Lord and Benefactor. And thus, having departed from this life in the hope of Eternal life, I will come to a place of eternal peace, where the voices of the triumphant do not cease and where the joy of those who look at the indescribable beauty of Your face is endless. For You are the true goal of aspiration and the inexplicable joy of those who love You, Christ our God, and all creation sings to You forever. Amen.

Second prayer, St. Vasily Velikago.

Lord, Christ God, King of the ages and Creator of all peace! I thank You for all the blessings that You have given me, and for the communion of Your most pure and life-giving Mysteries. And so I pray to You, O merciful and Lover of Mankind: keep me under Your protection in the shadow of Your wings, and grant me with a clear conscience, until my last breath, to worthily partake of Your Holy Things for the remission of sins and eternal life. For You are the Bread of Life, the Source of sanctification, the Giver of blessings. And we send glory to You, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and always and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Third prayer, St. Symeon Metaphrastus.

Lord, who voluntarily gave me Your flesh for food, You are the fire that burns the unworthy! Don't burn me, my Creator! But go into the members of my body, into all the joints, into the entrails, into the heart, and the thorns of all my sins fell. Cleanse my soul, sanctify my thoughts, strengthen me in my activities, enlighten my feelings, imbue me with fear of You. Always protect, protect, take care of me from every deed and word harmful to the soul. Cleanse, wash, arrange me; decorate, admonish and enlighten me. Make me Your temple of the one Spirit and no longer a dwelling place of sin, so that after receiving Communion every evildoer, every passion will flee from me, as from Your house, as from fire. As intercessors for myself, I present to You all the saints, the leaders of the disembodied Powers, Your Forerunner, the wise Apostles and, above them, Your immaculate, most pure Mother. Accept their prayers, my merciful Christ, and make Your servant a son of light. For You, the Merciful One, alone are the sanctification and illumination of our souls. And to You, as befits God and Master, we all send glory to You every day.

Prayer four.

May Your Holy Body, Lord Jesus Christ, our God, be for me for eternal life, and Your precious Blood for the remission of sins: and may this communion be for me joy, health and gladness. At Thy terrible and second coming grant me, a sinner, to stand in Thy glory, through the prayers of Thy Most Pure Mother and all the saints.

Fifth prayer, to the Most Holy Theotokos.

Most Holy Lady Theotokos, light of my darkened soul, hope, protection, refuge, consolation, my joy! I thank You that You have vouchsafed me, unworthy, to partake of the most pure Body and precious Blood of Your Son. You who gave birth to the true Light, enlighten the spiritual eyes of my heart. O Thou who gave birth to the Source of immortality, revive me, deadened by sin. Merciful Mother of the merciful God, have mercy on me and give me tenderness and contrition in my heart, humility in my thoughts, a return to the good thoughts of my mind, in cases of its infatuation. And grant me, until my last breath, without being condemned, to accept the shrine of the most pure Mysteries for the healing of soul and body. And give me tears of repentance and thanksgiving, so that I may sing and glorify You all the days of my life, since You are Blessed and glorified forever. Amen.

Now do You let Your servant go, O Master, according to Your word, in peace, for my eyes have seen Your salvation, which You have prepared before the face of all nations, a light to enlighten the Gentiles and the glory of Your people Israel.

Trisagion

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (Bow)

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (Bow)

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (Bow)

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer to the Most Holy Trinity

Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. Lord, cleanse our sins. Master, forgive our iniquities. Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Thy name's sake.

Lord have mercy. (Thrice)

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

And troparia are read to the saint, according to whose order the liturgy was performed. Option 1, if the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom was performed, the troparion to St. John is read:

The grace that shone from your lips, like a fiery torch, enlightened the universe. She did not acquire the treasure of the love of money for the world, but she showed us the height of your humility. Father John Chrysostom, teaching us with his writings, pray to the Word - Christ God for the salvation of our souls.

Kontakion

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Pious, most blessed John Chrysostom, you received divine grace from heaven and teach everyone with your lips to worship in the Trinity To the One God. We duly praise you, for you are the leader who explains the divine.

And now and always and forever and ever. Amen. Reliable protection Christians, constant Intercessor before the Creator, do not despise the prayerful voices of sinners, but hasten, O Merciful One, to help us, who with faith exclaim to You: “Hurry to intercession and hasten to prayer, Mother of God, always protecting those who honor You.”

Option 2, if the Liturgy of St. Basil the Great was celebrated, the troparion to St. Basil is read:

Your voice filled the whole earth, which accepted your word, with which you worthily taught the foundations of the divine faith, explained the nature of everything that exists, and regulated human morals. Royal priest, reverend father, pray to Christ God for the salvation of our souls.

Kontakion

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. You have appeared as the unshakable foundation of the Church, endowing all people with an inalienable treasure and sealing it with your teaching, Rev. Basil revealed from heaven!

Option 3, if the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts was celebrated, the troparion is read to Saint Gregory the Dvoeslov:

Having received divine grace from above, glorious Gregory, from God, and strengthened by His power, you desired to walk the path of the Gospel - therefore, O All-Blessed One, you received the reward for your labors from Christ - pray to Him that He may save our souls.

Kontakion

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. You, Father Gregory, appeared as an imitator of the Chief of the Shepherds of Christ, guiding hosts of monks into the heavenly courtyard, and therefore you taught the sheep of Christ His commandments. Now you rejoice with them and rejoice in the heavenly abodes.

And now and always and forever and ever. Amen. Reliable protection of Christians, constant intercessor before the Creator, do not despise the prayerful voices of sinners, but hasten, O Merciful One, to help us, who with faith exclaim to You: hasten to intercede and hasten to pray, Mother of God, always protecting those who worship You.

After which the end of the prayers of thanksgiving:

Lord have mercy. (12 times)

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always and unto ages of ages. Amen.

We magnify You as the true Mother of God, who gave birth without illness to God the Word, worthy of greater honor than the Cherubim, and incomparably more glorious than the Seraphim.

After Communion of the Body and Blood of the Lord, let everyone remain in purity, abstinence and laconicism, so as to worthily preserve within themselves the Christ received.

NOTES

The names of prayers and explanations in bold type are not read aloud.

All prayers, composed mainly by the holy fathers, are written in the masculine gender; women can pray both in the masculine gender (meaning a person in general) and in the feminine gender (whichever is more convenient for you).

From Easter to Ascension, instead of this prayer, the troparion to the Resurrection is read: “Christ rose from the dead, trampling down death by death, and giving life to the dead.” From the Feast of the Ascension to Trinity, we begin all prayers with the Trisagion, omitting everything previous. This remark also applies to evening prayers.

The entire world created by God: earthly and heavenly, visible and invisible, created and uncreated.

The source of blessings is the source of good and benefit for our souls.

Each request of this prayer is usually accompanied by the sign of the cross.

Irmos: Shine, shine, new Jerusalem: for the glory of the Lord has shone upon you! Celebrate now and be merry, O Zion! You, Pure Mother of God, rejoice in the resurrection of the One born of You. Chorus: The angel exclaimed to the Blessed One: “pure Virgin, rejoice!” And I will repeat: rejoice! Your Son rose from the grave on the third day, raising the dead. People, rejoice!

This remark also applies to the end of the remaining prayers.

Those. devil

This is how Saint Theophan the Recluse understood this place (see letters)

Flattering, false

First of all, in the spiritual struggle with passions and the devil.

This prayer to God is a person’s heartfelt contrition for his sins and thus serves as preparation for the sacrament of Holy Repentance. And, of course, in no case can it serve as a replacement for it.

Acceptable in Orthodox tradition a figurative poetic hyperbole of a personal appeal to the Cross, implying an appeal to the Savior Crucified on Him.

The canon is a series of church hymns, irmos and troparions, closely related to each other, both musically (in tune, and in the Greek original and certain size verse), and in content. The latter expresses the spirit and essence of the celebrated church event, the exploits of the celebrated saint or other event.

Hyssop is a fragrant, subshrub plant from the Lamiaceae family, with blue or pink flowers. Twigs of hyssop, tied into a bundle, were used by Jews for sprinkling.

An introductory verse showing the content of the other verses of a song or canon. In the Byzantine canons, the irmos serves as a melodic model for subsequent troparions of the song.

Among the many amazing books by Bernard Werber, The Tree of the Possible occupies a special place.

...if a huge stinking meteorite falls into the center of Paris,

...if aliens breed us like pets,

...if it turns out that trees are intelligent, thinking creatures,

...if your own hand rebels against you...

It turns out that the future is a completely controllable element, subject to us, but we need to think about it in advance...

Bernard Werber
The Tree of Possibility and Other Stories

Dedicated to Titian

Preface

When I was little, my father always told me a story at night.

And then I saw her in a dream.

Every time the world seemed too complicated, I made up a fairy tale that contained a little of my troubles. This brought immediate relief.

At school, children asked me to write stories for them. Often these stories began with the words: “He opened the door and froze.”

Over time, the stories became more and more incredible. Then it turned into a game with the only rule - find a problem and then find an unusual solution to it.

When I wrote my first novel, in order not to forget how to quickly come up with fairy tales, I spent one hour in the evening writing stories. So I took a break from the morning labors devoted to the creation of “serious novels.”

The plot for the short story was born from observations during a walk, from conversations with a friend, from dreams, from sorrows that I wanted to get rid of by moving them into a story.

The Mystery of Numbers was inspired by a conversation with my little nephew, who told me that in his class there was a hierarchy that divided students into those who could count to ten and those who could count further.

The idea for “Blackness” came to me when I saw an overly caring passerby trying to get an old man across the road who didn’t need it at all.

"The Last Riot" was written after visiting a nursing home.

"The Silent Friend" - after a conversation with Professor Gerard Amzallag, a biologist who studies various forms of life. The scientific discovery described in the novel is little known, but completely real.

Some details from "Let's Learn to Love Them" will be included in the play, which is called "Our Human Friends."

It has always been interesting to me, when talking about us humans, to take the point of view of beings different from us. This is an inexhaustible source of thought. I have already used the "exotic view of humanity" technique in "Ants", where my hero, number 103, tries to understand human behavior by watching the news on TV, and in "Empire of Angels", where Michel Panson observes mortals from heaven and with bitterness makes sure that they are trying to "reduce their misfortunes instead of building happiness."

Ants and angels: two points of view on a person - from infinitely “low” to infinitely “high”. This book will have an infinitely “different” point of view.

The Tree of Possibility is an invention I've been dreaming about ever since I lost to the computer at chess. If a bunch of pieces of iron are capable of foreseeing any possible options for the development of the party, why not put into it the entire body of human knowledge, all the hypotheses of the future, so that it will produce possible options for the development of our society for a short, medium and long period of time.

"School for Young Gods" is a draft of a future novel that continues "Empire of Angels." Its problems are the upbringing and daily life of one of the gods who govern us.

These short stories will help the reader understand how my novels are born.

Each story is an assumption taken to its logical conclusion. What will happen if you launch a rocket into the Sun, if a meteorite falls into the Luxembourg Gardens, if a person’s skin becomes transparent...

I would like to tell these stories in your ear.

Let's learn to love them

As a child, each of us had entertainment - people at home. They sat in a cage, spun tirelessly in a wheel, or lived in an aquarium with a beautiful artificial landscape.

However, in addition to tame people, there are also wild ones. They are not at all similar to those that live in our gutters and in attics, multiplying rapidly and forcing us to use humanicides.

Not long ago, a planet was discovered where wild people live, without even knowing about our existence. This strange place is located near Kosmostrada 33. Wild people live together. They have created large nests, know how to use tools, and even have a communication system based on a characteristic squeak. There are many legends about this planet, where wild creatures live. They say that they have bombs that can destroy the entire planet and that they use pieces of paper instead of money. Some say that they eat each other and build cities at the bottom of the sea. To separate fact from fiction, our government, since 12008 (as part of the "Don't Kill Them Without Trying To Understand" program), has sent researchers to this planet to study wild people while remaining invisible to them. We present the results of these little-known studies in this article. Here's her plan:

Wild human beings in natural environment a habitat.

Their customs and method of reproduction.

How to care for them at home.

Wild human creatures in natural habitat

1. Where can you meet wild people?

Human beings are found almost everywhere in our galaxies, but the only place where they have been able to develop independently is the Earth. Where is this planet located? When going on vacation, you often wonder how to avoid big space traffic jams. Take Kosmostrada 33, perhaps longer, but less crowded. Pull over near road number 707 and you will see a yellowish, dim galaxy. Park your interplanetary car and approach.

On the left side of this galaxy you will notice a rather old and shabby solar system, where the Earth is the only planet with signs of life.

The earth is surrounded by white vapor, its surface has a bluish tint. This is explained big amount oxygen, hydrogen and carbon in its atmosphere.

2. How to recognize them?

Take a magnifying glass and look at the savage: thick hair on the top of his head, pink, white or brown skin, paws with many toes. When walking, people maintain balance on their hind legs, with their butts slightly protruding. They breathe (mainly oxygen) through two small holes, and through the other two they perceive sounds. Two more holes serve to capture vibrations of light waves. (Craig's experiment: if a person is blindfolded, he will start to stumble.) Humans do not have a radar system that allows them to navigate in the dark, which explains their weaker nighttime activity compared to daytime. (Brons' experiment: put a person in a box and close the lid. After a short period of time, the person begins to emit a desperate squeak. People are afraid of the dark.)

3. How to find people on Earth?

There are many ways to detect them. First of all, these are lights at night and smoke during the day. When you land your interplanetary vehicle, you will notice their trails - large black lines.

Sometimes in the forest you can meet people-tourists, or people-peasants, or people-scouts.

There are many subspecies of humans on Earth: water people, with black flipper-like legs, flying people, with a large delta wing on their back, human smokers, constantly releasing steam from their mouths.

4. How to approach them?

All morning prayers

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen

Publican's Prayer

(Gospel of Luke, chapter 18, verse 13)
God, be merciful to me, a sinner. (Bow)

Initial prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen. Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Heavenly King, Comforter, Soul of truth, Who is everywhere and fulfills everything, Treasure of good things and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Good One, our souls.(2)

Trisagion

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (Read three times, with the sign of the cross and bow from the waist.) Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer to the Most Holy Trinity

Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Master, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Thy name's sake. Lord have mercy. (Thrice). Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen. (3)

Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as it is in heaven and on earth. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, just as we forgive our debtors; and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Troparia Trinity

Having risen from sleep, we fall down to Thee, the Good One, and cry out to Thee, the Mightier, the angelic song: Holy, Holy, Holy art thou, O God, have mercy on us through the Mother of God. Glory: From bed and sleep You have raised me up, O Lord, enlighten my mind and heart, and open my lips to sing to You, Holy Trinity: Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God, have mercy on us through the Mother of God.
And now: Suddenly the Judge will come, and every deed will be exposed, but we call with fear (4) at midnight: Holy, Holy, Holy art thou, O God, have mercy on us through the Mother of God. Lord have mercy. (12 times)

Prayer to the Most Holy Trinity

Having risen from sleep, I thank Thee, Holy Trinity, for for the sake of Thy goodness and long-suffering, Thou hast not been angry with me, lazy and sinful, nor hast Thou destroyed me with my iniquities; but you usually loved mankind and in the despair of the one who lay down, you raised me up to practice and glorify Your power. And now enlighten my mental eyes, open my lips to learn Thy words, and to understand Thy commandments, and to do Thy will, and to sing to Thee in heartfelt confession, and to sing Thy all-holy name, of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages. centuries. Amen.
Come, let us worship our King God. (Bow)
Come, let us worship and fall down before Christ, our King God. (Bow)
Come, let us bow and fall down to Christ Himself, the King and our God. (Bow)

Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy, and according to the multitude of Your mercies, cleanse my iniquity. Above all, wash me from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin; for I know my iniquity, and I will take away my sin before me. I have sinned against You alone and have done evil before You, so that You may be justified in Your words and triumph over the judgment of You. Behold, I was conceived in iniquities, and my mother gave birth to me in sins. Behold, you have loved the truth; You have revealed to me the unknown and secret wisdom of Yours. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. My hearing brings joy and joy; humble bones will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins and cleanse all my iniquities. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb. Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit away from me. Reward me with the joy of Your salvation and strengthen me with the Lord’s Spirit. I will teach the wicked Your way, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from bloodshed, O God, God of my salvation; My tongue will rejoice in Your righteousness. Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth will declare Your praise. As if you had desired sacrifices, you would have given them: you do not favor burnt offerings. The sacrifice to God is a broken spirit; God will not despise a broken and humble heart. Bless Zion, O Lord, with Your favor, and may the walls of Jerusalem be built. Then favor the sacrifice of righteousness, the offering and the burnt offering; Then they will place the bullock on Your altar.

Symbol of faith

I believe in one God the Father, Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, visible to all and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only begotten, who was born of the Father before all ages; Light from Light, true God from true God, born, uncreated, consubstantial with the Father, to Whom all things were. For our sake, man and our salvation came down from heaven and became incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became human. She was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried. And he rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures. And ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father. And again the coming one will be judged with glory by the living and the dead, His Kingdom will have no end. And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Life-Giving One, who proceeds from the Father, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who spoke the prophets. Into one Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the remission of sins. I hope for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the next century. Amen.

First prayer of Saint Macarius the Great

God, cleanse me, a sinner, for I have done nothing good before You; but deliver me from the evil one, and Thy will be done in me, so that I may open my unworthy lips without condemnation and praise the name Your sacred, Father and Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages Amen.

Second prayer, of the same saint

Rising from sleep, I bring the midnight hymn to Ti, Savior, and falling down crying to Ti: do not let me fall asleep in a sinful death, but be gracious to me, crucified by will, and hasten me lying in laziness, and save me in standing and in prayer, and in sleep Rise up nightly for me a sinless day, O Christ God, and save me.

Prayer three, of the same saint

To You, Lord, Lover of Mankind, having risen from sleep, I come running, and I strive for Your works with Your mercy, and I pray to You: help me at all times, in every thing, and deliver me from all worldly evil things and the devil’s haste, and save me, and bring us into Your eternal Kingdom. For You are my Creator and the Provider and Giver of every good thing, and all my hope is in You, and I send up glory to You, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer four, of the same saint

Lord, Who through Your many goodness and Your great bounty has given me, Your servant, the passing time of this night without misfortune to pass away from all evil that is contrary to me; You Yourself, Master, the Creator of all things, grant me with Your true light and an enlightened heart to do Your will, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Fifth prayer, Saint Basil the Great

Lord Almighty, God of hosts and all flesh, living in the highest and looking down on the humble, testing the hearts and wombs and innermost parts of men, the fore-foreseen One, the Beginningless and Ever-Everlasting Light, with Him there is no change or overshadowing; Himself, Immortal King, accept our prayers, even at the present time, boldly for the multitude of Your bounties, from the bad lips we create towards You, and forgive us our sins, whether in deed, word, and thought, knowledge, or ignorance, we have sinned; and cleanse us from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit. And grant us with a cheerful heart and a sober thought to pass through the whole night of this present life, awaiting the coming of the bright and revealed day of Your Only Begotten Son, the Lord and God and our Savior Jesus Christ, in which the Judge of all will come with glory, to whom he will give to each according to his deeds; May we not fall and become lazy, but be watchful and raised up for the work that is to come, and prepare for the joy and Divine palace of His glory, where those who celebrate the unceasing voice and the ineffable sweetness of those who behold Your face, the ineffable kindness. For You are the true Light, you enlighten and sanctify all things, and all creation sings to You forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer six, of the same saint

We bless you, O highest God and Lord of mercy, who always does great and unexplored, glorious and terrible things to us, countless in number, giving us sleep for the repose of our weakness, and the weakening of the labors of the arduous flesh. We thank Thee, for Thou didst not destroy us with our iniquities, but Thou didst usually love mankind, and in desperation, Thou didst raise us up to glorify Thy power. In the same way, we pray for Your immeasurable goodness, enlighten our thoughts, our eyes, and raise our minds from the heavy sleep of laziness: open our lips, and fulfill Your praise, so that we can unwaveringly sing and confess to You, in all, and from all, to the glorified God, To the Beginningless Father, with Your Only Begotten Son, and Your All-Holy and Good and Life-Giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Seventh prayer to the Most Holy Theotokos

I sing Thy grace, O Lady, I pray to Thee, my mind is filled with grace. Go right and teach me the path of Christ’s commandments. Strengthen your children to songs, driving away despondency and sleep. Bound by the captivity of the Falls, allow me through Your prayers, Bride of God. Preserve me in the night and in the day, delivering me to those who fight against the enemy. She who gave birth to God, the life-giver, was killed by my passions and revived. Who gave birth to the non-evening Light, enlighten my blind soul. O wondrous Lady of the Palace, create for me the house of the Divine Spirit. You who gave birth to a doctor, heal my soul of many years of passion. Worried by the storm of life, guide me towards the path of repentance. Deliver me from eternal fire, and from evil worms, and from tartar. Do not show me joy as a demon, who is guilty of many sins. Create me again, having promised to be insensible, Immaculate, without sin. Show me the strangeness of all kinds of torment, and implore the Lord to all. Heavenly grant me joy with all the saints. Most Holy Virgin, hear the voice of Your indecent servant. Give me a stream of tears, Most Pure One, cleansing the filth of my soul. I bring lamentations from my heart to You continually, be zealous, Lady. Accept my prayer service and bring it to the blessed God. Transcending Angel, create me above the fusion of the world. Light-bearing heavenly Seine, direct spiritual grace in me. I lift up my hand and my lips to praise, defiled by filth, O All-Immaculate One. Deliver me from the dirty tricks that are strangling me, diligently begging Christ; To Him is due honor and worship, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer eight, to our Lord Jesus Christ

My most merciful and all-merciful God, Lord Jesus Christ, for the sake of love you came down and became incarnate for many reasons, so that you would save everyone. And again, Savior, save me by grace, I pray to You; Even if you save me from works, there is no grace and no gift, but more than debt. Hey, abundant in generosity and ineffable in mercy! Believe in Me, you say, O my Christ, you will live and will not see death forever. Even if faith in You saves the desperate, behold, I believe, save me, for You are my God and Creator. Let faith instead of works be imputed to me, O my God, for you will not find works to justify me. But may my faith prevail instead of all, may it answer, may it justify me, may it show me to be a partaker of Your eternal glory. Let Satan not kidnap me, and boast to the Word that he has torn me from Your hand and fence; But either I want, save me, or I don’t want, Christ my Savior, I will soon foresee, I will soon perish: For you are my God from my mother’s womb. Grant me, O Lord, now to love Thee, as sometimes I have loved that same sin; and again work for You without laziness, just as you worked before the flattering Satan. Most of all, I will serve You, my Lord and God Jesus Christ, all the days of my life, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Ninth prayer to the Guardian Angel

Holy Angel, standing before my accursed soul and my passionate life, do not leave me, a sinner, nor depart from me for my intemperance. Do not give room to the evil demon to possess me through the violence of this mortal body; strengthen my poor and thin hand and guide me on the path of salvation. To her, holy Angel of God, guardian and patron of my accursed soul and body, forgive me everything, I have offended you so greatly all the days of my life, and if I sinned this past night, cover me on this day, and save me from every opposite temptation May I not anger God in any sin, and pray for me to the Lord, that He may strengthen me in His passion, and show me worthy as a servant of His goodness. Amen.

Prayer tenth, to the Most Holy Theotokos

My Most Holy Lady Theotokos, with Your saints and all-powerful prayers, take away from me, Your humble and accursed servant, despondency, oblivion, foolishness, negligence, and all the nasty, evil and blasphemous thoughts from my accursed heart and from my darkened mind; and extinguish the flame of my passions, for I am poor and damned. And deliver me from many and cruel memories and enterprises, and free me from all evil actions. For Thou art blessed from all generations, and glorified is Thy most honorable name forever and ever. Amen.

About the living

Remember, Lord Jesus Christ, our God, Thy mercy and generosity from all eternity, for whose sake Thou didst become man, and Thou didst deign to endure crucifixion and death, for the sake of the salvation of those who believe in Thee; and rose from the dead, you ascended into heaven and sit at the right hand of God the Father, and look upon the humble prayers of those who call upon You with all their hearts: incline Your ear, and hear the humble prayer of me, Your indecent servant, in the stench of the spiritual fragrance, brought to You for all Your people . And in the first place, remember Your Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, which You have provided with Your venerable Blood, and establish, and strengthen, and expand, multiply, pacify, and preserve the insurmountable gates of hell forever; Calm the tearing of the Churches, quench the pagan vacillations, and quickly destroy and eradicate the heresies of rebellion, and convert them into nothingness by the power of Your Holy Spirit. (Bow)

Save, Lord, and have mercy on our Great Lord and Father, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, Your Eminence metropolitans, archbishops and Orthodox bishops, priests and deacons, and the entire church clergy, who You have appointed to shepherd Your verbal flock, and through their prayers have mercy and save me, a sinner. (Bow)

Save, O Lord, and have mercy on the old and the young, the poor and the orphans and the widows, and those who are in sickness and sorrow, troubles and sorrows, conditions and captivity, prisons and imprisonments, and even more so in persecution, for You for the sake of the Orthodox faith, from the tongue of the godless, from the apostate and from the heretics, Thy present servants, and remember, visit, strengthen, comfort, and soon by Thy power I will weaken, grant them freedom and deliver. (Bow)

Save, O Lord, and have mercy on those who do good to us, who are merciful and nourishing to us, who gave us alms, and who commanded us to the unworthy to pray for them, and who give us rest, and do Thy mercy to them, granting them all, even petitions for salvation, and the perception of eternal blessings . (Bow)

Once upon a time, I asked the “all-knowing grannies” in the Church about everything that I didn’t understand. Once again I asked about reading the Psalms: how to read, what to pray for, etc. To which the granny answered me that the Psalter must be read only in Church Slavonic, otherwise “LOW”! I was very upset and began to study literacy church language. But I was tempted to ask the priest about this in confession. Father smiled into his beard and said that the Psalter can and should be read in the language you understand. The Lord understands all languages, you just need to sincerely ask Him, with all your heart! And he also advised me to ask all questions only to the priest and never listen to know-it-all grandmothers!

    Question to the priest

Question to the priest- section of the site “Russian Faith”, which is especially popular. We're getting new ones questions to the Orthodox priest almost every day, and especially many of them come from beginning Christians who have only heard about the Old Believers, but have not had the opportunity to get to know them better.

We know how difficult it can be - cross the threshold of the temple and ask your question to the priest live. And of course, personal conversation and living word consolation will never replace email correspondence. However, we need spiritual counsel.

We believe that all the efforts of our shepherds will not be in vain, even if at least one of those who asked receives some spiritual benefit!

Ask a question to the priest

Is it possible to read prayers in Russian?

You pose a very serious question, the answer to which is not as simple as it might seem at first glance. For a person deeply rooted in the Orthodox tradition, it seems unthinkable how one can address God in modern Russian. But for a person just coming to faith, the Church Slavonic language is unusual and difficult to understand. In church, the texts of Holy Scripture are read in Church Slavonic, and in literature, in sermons, in letters and responses to contemporaries, we most often use the text of the Synodal translation of the Bible into Russian. But we use it only to convey the idea more clearly. modern man, although this translation is quite archaic. In passing, I would like to note that work is currently underway to publish an Old Believer translation into Russian of the Holy Gospel.

It must be said that the Church Slavonic translation of the Bible and liturgical texts is more accurate and closer to the original than the Synodal translation. Experts in the field of linguistics talk about the difficulty of interpreting prayer formulas and the impossibility of accurately conveying liturgical semantics using the tools of modern language.

A wonderful article about our liturgical language was published in the preface to the “Prayer Book” published by the Old Believer Metropolis of the Russian Orthodox Church. Old Believer Church(M., 1988, etc. pp. 8-9). It briefly but essentially reveals the meaning of the Church Slavonic language and the reasons why the Church cannot switch to modern Russian. Here I will only quote one paragraph.

The centuries-old prayer experience of the Russian Church shows that the Church Slavonic language is perfectly suited for prayerful communication with God. After all, a conversation with God is not a conversation with a person. Therefore, the language of prayer must be different from the language of ordinary speech. The Church Slavonic language gives prayers and praises a sublime style, distracting the soul from vain things. earthly worries and sorrows. In this regard, the language of our worship is an inexhaustible treasure.

Start praying according to the prayer book, and you will see how organically the words of prayer flow from your heart.

Liturgical and modern Russian languages are closely related. Therefore, I would advise you to make an effort on yourself and try to master Church Slavonic. We can recommend the following tutorial: Pletneva A.A., Kravetsky A.G. Church Slavonic language: Textbook. ed. – 5th ed., stereotypical. – M.: AST-PRESS KNIGA, 2013 – 272 p.. It is also necessary to use a dictionary, although not many church words require translation. Further, when reading Holy Scripture, be sure to refer to the patristic interpretations. Compare Church Slavonic and Synodal translations. This will allow you to understand that translation does not provide a complete understanding of the meaning. After all, the Lord also to the apostles opened the mind to understand the Scriptures"(Luke 24:45). Obviously, such work requires some effort and time, but it is generously rewarded. You will gain a deeper understanding of the Bible and worship. " For I want mercy, not sacrifice, and knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.“says the Lord (6:6).

I can give you an example. On Holy Spirit Monday the following words of the Apostle Paul are read in church: “ ...redeeming time"(Eph. 5:16). And in synodal translation in the same place we read: “ ... valuing time" Do you agree that this instruction in Church Slavonic sounds much deeper and stronger? And here is his interpretation.

“Amma Theodora asked Archbishop Theophilus: what is the meaning of the Apostle’s saying: “Time redeems”? He answered: “This means that our entire earthly life is similar to the production of trade. For example: when the time comes when reproaches will rain down on you, you atone for this time with humility and gain benefit (profit) for yourself. Thus, everything that is contrary and hostile to us can, if we want, turn to our advantage” (Alphabetical Patericon).

I also recommend that you familiarize yourself with the translations of the psalms made by the outstanding Russian philologist, academician Sergei Sergeevich Averintsev (1937-2004). See for example: Selected Psalms / Translation and commentary by S.S. Averintseva. – M.: St. Philaret Orthodox Christian Institute, 2005. – 176 p. These translations are remarkable in that they make it possible to convey to modern people the meaning of the psalms, firstly, in the Russian language (in which modern words, barbarisms and borrowings), and secondly, in such a Russian language, which also conveys the imagery of the original, allows you to feel the structure of psalmic speech.

In conclusion, a few words must be said about the modern Russian language. This phrase is often used to denote common language, excluding anything that sounds “archaic.” " The use of such language" - writes S.S. Averintsev, - “creates the illusion that the environment in which the action takes place is modernity. ... God comes to the believer in reality today; but I'm afraid that He will not come to the isolationist ideological space that does not want to know anything but itself"(op. cit. pp. 148 and 150).

To the Guardian Angel:
Holy Angel of God, guardian and patron of my soul! Always be with me, morning, evening, day and night, guide me on the path of God’s commandments and remove all temptations of evil from me. Amen.

MORNING PRAYERS:
We are children of God, and every morning we raise our first thoughts to our Father who is in heaven: we greet Him, we thank Him for new day life. The main idea of morning prayer is worship of God. Rising Sun awakens all living things. In this we see the way of God and glorify the Giver of life. At the same time, we come face to face with our life tasks, which are participation in the work of God. By sacrificing our labor to Him, we ask for His help and renew our sincere intention to live in unity with Him.

Appeal to glorify God:
Come, let us sing to the Lord, let us exclaim to the rock of our salvation; Let us come before His face with praise, and let us shout to Him in songs.
For the Lord is the great God and the great King over all gods.
The depths of the earth are in His hand, and the tops of the mountains are His; The sea is His, and He made it, and His hands formed the dry land.
Come, let us bow down and kneel before the face of the Lord, our Creator; for He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.
Ps 95(94), 1-7

Morning praise:
I praise You, my God, and love You with all my heart. I thank You for creating me, making me a Christian and saving me from death this night. I give You all my actions today - may they be pleasing to You and serve Your glory. Save me from sin and all evil. May Your grace always be with me and my loved ones. Amen.

Please have a good day:
Lord, Almighty God, You have allowed me to live to see a new day: strengthen me with Your grace. Help me today to see the dignity of the children of God in every neighbor, and to be able to show them love. Help me create an atmosphere of goodwill and joy around me. Let my thoughts and actions express Your will. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Longing for God:
God! You are my God, I have been looking for You since the early dawn; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You in the empty, parched and waterless land, to see Your power and Your glory, as I saw You in the sanctuary: for Your mercy is better than life. My lips will praise You. So I will bless You in my life; in Your name I will lift up my hands.
How my soul is satisfied with fat and oil, and my lips praise You with a joyful voice, when I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches, for You are my help, and in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice; My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.
Ps 63(62), 2-9

Prayer calls for faith, hope, love and contrition:
My God, You are the infallible Truth, I believe in everything that You have revealed to us, and that the Holy Church tells us to believe. I believe in You, the one true God in three equal and self-existent Persons: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. I believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who became man for our sake, died on the cross and rose again, who will reward each person according to his deserts - reward or punish. I wish to always live by this faith: Lord, strengthen my faith.

My God, I trust that, according to Your promise and the merits of our Savior, Jesus Christ, You, in Your goodness, will grant me eternal life and the grace necessary for me to deserve this life by the good deeds that I am obliged and willing to do. Lord, do it so that I can rejoice in You in eternal life.

My God, I love You with all my heart and above all, for You are our infinite good and our eternal happiness! I love You, God, in my neighbor - make me love You even more.

My God, I grieve with all my heart for my sins, for having committed a sin, I deserve Your punishment. I grieve for them, for I have offended You, who is infinitely good and most worthy of love. With Your help, I undertake to avoid temptations in the future, so as not to offend You anymore. God! Strengthen me!

Committing your work to God every day:
God, Lord and Creator of the universe, I give You all my labors today, and through them I want to express my love for You, for Your Church, for my family and the whole world. Help me to do them joyfully, as if I were participating in Your work of creation. May this work serve the sanctification of my soul and the good of other people. I accept all the suffering associated with it as participation in the cross of Jesus. O my Lord, I entrust all unemployed, poor and unhappy people to Your All-Good Heart. Saint Joseph, patron saint of all workers, pray for me and for everyone who works with me. Amen.

PRAYERS DURING THE DAY:
God is Love, He loves us - His children. Throughout the day we want to thank God for His love for us by responding with our love. And we will be able to answer when we entrust our daily affairs, food, study, work and rest to Him in prayer.

Prayer before work:
Almighty God, may Your inspiration anticipate our deeds; Strengthen them with Your grace, so that every work we do begins in You and is completed in You. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer before studying:
O Holy Spirit, sanctifying our hearts and minds, give us the desire and ability so that studying will be useful to us in earthly and eternal life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer after studying:
We thank You, Lord, for the light of teaching, so that, illuminated by it, we can always glorify You and do Your will. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of Praise:
For all the good deeds of the Lord,
For the treasures of faith and grace,
For our labor and its fruits,
For moments of firmness and for weakness,
For peace, struggle, health and illness,
For happy laughter and tears of sorrow,
For the heavy cross laid upon us,
May Jesus Christ be glorified!

Prayer before meals:
Bless us, O Lord God, and these gifts, which we will partake of in Your goodness, and grant that all people may have their daily bread. We ask You through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer after eating:
We thank You, God, for all Your good deeds. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Reflection:
The prayers we say have a rich semantic content. It is useful to sometimes reflect on them in peace and quiet. By doing this, we will see that they speak about what is close to our hearts. It would be very good if we could also find guidance in them. In the end, you should make a practical decision - one, but a firm one.
Before you begin such a prayer, you need to concentrate and humble your heart before God, who abides with us and gives us His love. Ask Him to help us pray. Concluding our reflection, we must present our decision to God, thank Him for the grace of being with Him, for strengthening us and illuminating our mind. This is the simplest method of thinking.
It will be good if we add to our prayerful reflection the texts of Holy Scripture, psalms, prayers of the Rosary and the Stations of the Cross. You can use other prayers suggested in this prayer book.

Brief prayer requests:
During the day, you can also turn to God repeatedly in very short prayers, called short appeals. They can be said anywhere, almost at any time, on the way to work, and even while doing something. Anyone who finds such a prayer for himself and makes it truly his own will be able to feel the full power of its action.
My Lord and my God!
You, Lord, are good and merciful!
Lord, increase my faith!
God, Thy will be done!
God, I trust in You, let me not be ashamed!
Lord, my hope!
Have mercy on me, Lord, in my sorrows!
Guide me, O God, on Your paths!
Come, Lord Jesus!
All for the glory of God!
Remember me, Lord...

Teach me, Lord, to serve You worthily, teach me to give, regardless of the cost, to work without knowing rest; teach us to work without asking for any other reward other than confidence in the fulfillment of Your will. Amen.
St. Ignatius of Loyola

Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary:
O Immaculate Virgin, Mother of the true God and Mother of the Church! Mother of grace, Teacher of hidden and quiet self-sacrifice! To you, who comes out to meet us sinners, we dedicate ourselves and our love. Through Your hands we entrust to Your Son our life and work, our joys, illnesses and sorrows.
Ask our homes for the grace of love and respect for all life. Grant the same love with which You conceived the Divine Child in Your womb. O Most Holy Virgin Mary, Mother of gracious love, keep our families in unity and bless our children.
You are our Hope and hope; look upon us mercifully and teach us to always turn to Jesus. Teach us to rise after falling and return to Him through confession of sins in the holy sacrament of reconciliation, which gives peace to our souls. Help us return to Jesus through the sacrament of the Eucharist.
Most Holy Mother, with a humble conscience and a heart free from wickedness, we will be able to bring to all people the true joy and peace of Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with God the Father and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.

EVENING PRAYERS:
During evening prayer, we thank God for the day we have lived, examine our conscience, thank God for the good and ask for forgiveness for the evil we have done. This is the best moment for family members to forgive each other for minor offenses.
Before night falls, we entrust to God everyone and everything that our hearts hurt about. We remember death and the meeting with God that awaits us, we think about His judgment and mercy; We express our faith, hope, love and contrition for sins. You can read the prayers given here, or pray in your own words, or read selected passages from the Holy Scriptures. It is recommended to join the prayer of the Church - the Liturgy of the Hours. Evening prayer of the Church (Vespers) or prayer before bed.

Evening test of conscience:
Every person who wants to develop spiritually must realize how important the daily examination of conscience is. Examination of conscience is a time of prayer, a time of encounter in which we renew our life with and in Christ day by day. It gives us the opportunity to more fully and objectively see the presence and action of God in our lives, to know His plans for us so that we can find Him in everything and everywhere - not only during the time allotted for prayer. The test of conscience is not only an analysis of the day we have lived, not only a moral assessment of our actions: our vision of life should lead us to search for an answer to the call of God, to self-determination in faith. During the nightly examination of conscience, the feelings with which one should end the day are put in order and focused: gratitude to God for grace and blessing, contrition for bad deeds and thoughts, a decision to correct one’s life, and surrendering oneself with trust in the hands of a good God.
Merciful God! I thank You with all my heart for all the blessings of today and the grace given to me. Come, O Holy Spirit, illuminate my mind, so that all the sins I have committed today will be revealed to me, and especially my main vice. Break my heart so that I sincerely grieve for my sins.
I believe, Lord, that You are the God and Father of mercy. Therefore, with humble hope, I offer my sins to You, so that You may look at my contrition and grant me forgiveness. For You are God Almighty, who whitens souls more than snow and the light of the sun. Amen.

Suggestions for examination of conscience:
PRAYER: My communication with God? The memory of His presence? Thanksgiving? Desire to live as a Christian? Petitions? Hope? Prayer for forgiveness?
WORK, STUDY, REST: Ability to manage time? Fulfilling duties? Dedication? Coming to terms with your own limitations and taking responsibility for your abilities? Struggling with laziness and difficulties? Forms of relaxation, care for a good mood?
COMMUNICATION WITH PEOPLE: Respect? Cooperation and mutual assistance? Kindness in words and deeds? Accepting reasonable offers? Attention to the concerns and suffering of others? Striving for justice? Protecting the weak?
Next we invite you to read the psalm:
The Lord is my light and my salvation: whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life: whom shall I fear?
If evildoers, my opponents and my enemies come upon me to devour my flesh, then they themselves will stumble and fall.
Hear, O Lord, my voice with which I cry, have mercy on me and listen to me.
My heart speaks from You: “Seek My face”; and I will seek Your face, O Lord.
Hide not Your face from me; do not reject Your servant in anger.
You were my helper; do not reject me and do not forsake me, O God, my Savior!
For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will receive me.
Teach me, O Lord, Your way and guide me on the path of righteousness, for the sake of my enemies.
But I believe that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Trust in the Lord, be of good courage, and let your heart be strengthened, and trust in the Lord.
Ps 27(26), 1-2. 7-11. 13-14

Other evening prayers:
Oh God, another day of my life has passed. Every moment I lived was a gift from You: whether I worked or rested, communicated with people or was alone with myself, was happy or sad - everything was Your gift.
Thank You for everything that I have learned and experienced today. You alone know whether I was able to fulfill Your will. Forgive me for everything that I overlooked, that I forgot about, for everything that was not according to Your will. Have mercy on me, a sinner. Let me let a night's rest increase my strength so that I can live better tomorrow.
Take care of all those who sleep and those who work this night. I entrust my entire future and that of my loved ones to Your merciful care, our God and Father. Amen.
