This post was prepared as part of a thematic photo project together with photographer Katerina Cherepanova. I express my deep gratitude to you for your cooperation and ideological spirit, Katya! Thank you for submitting the photos!

Several years ago, I also took a lot of extra and, as it turns out later when traveling, unnecessary things. Over time, I learned to take only the essentials, and on trips to Europe or Russia during the off-season, I only go with a backpack. I’ll tell you below an example of how this happens!

So, on an April trip to the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria and Italy (about 20 days), my things easily fit into a backpack. I also went to St. Petersburg for 12 days in May with a backpack. I definitely travel with a backpack for 3-4 days. For example, now I have returned from Kazan in September, where all my things were also placed in a backpack!

I want to immediately convince you that a backpack can fit a LOT of things, the main thing is to follow a few simple, but important rules! So, let's go - how to pack a suitcase or backpack correctly?

Bathroom accessories

The most important rule to follow is to never do not take full-size products(shampoos, balms, shower gels, etc.). These items add the most weight to your suitcase! Many people buy such products while they are already on vacation, and in principle, this is also a way out. But not for me. Firstly, I’m used to using certain products that may not be available in the store. Secondly, the first thing I want to do when I arrive at my destination is take a shower, and not look for a store to buy shampoo, conditioner, etc. That's why I bottle my favorite products in special miniature containers from Ikea . Toothpaste, soap - I also take miniature ones.

For my hair when traveling, I use an absolute trio: a compact Tangle Teezer comb, an elastic band and a hair band, which I use when washing my face and applying makeup.

Care products

The approach to care products is the same as to bath accessories. I also bring face/hand cream and body balm in miniatures, if their packaging is large for my reasons.

Cosmetics

Since I’m talking about the example of a trip in the off-season, during this period, of course, cosmetics have a special tribute (when going to the sea, for example, I keep it to a minimum). From cosmetics, I take basic products that I use daily. If the packaging is bulky, I try to replace it with another product. If this foundation comes in a heavy package, I pour a small amount into a miniature one.

I most often use lipsticks and lip pencils as an accent of decorative cosmetics, so when I travel I take two/three variations - for everyday makeup and makeup for going out.

Clothes and shoes: 5 important rules

We've come to the hardest part - collecting clothes! My minimum set The clothes that fit in a backpack most often consist of two pairs of jeans/trousers, a couple of light jumpers/sweatshirts, two/three tops/T-shirts, one dress. There are several important rules when collecting clothes.

First rule: in order to pack your suitcase correctly, take only those things that are easy to combine with each other. For every thing that I take with me, there is an unspoken rule - if this thing is combined with others in at least 3 looks, then it suits me, and I take it with me! For example, a denim dress that can be worn both as a dress and as a shirt, tied at the waist.

The only exception can be a small one black dress(well, or any other - to your taste). Although, even this black dress can be easily tucked up and worn as a top with jeans!

Second rule when choosing clothes: give preference to lighter things and leave the heavy ones at home. Sometimes I cheat: choosing light, non-bulky things allows me to take an extra dress or jumper)

Third rule: When you pack your things, roll them up so they take up less space!

Fourth rule concerns shoes. I take only comfortable shoes, and they should be combined with all the chosen items. Most often these are two pairs of shoes: comfortable sneakers and some boots that can be worn with both a dress and jeans.

Fifth rule, also related to shoes: when I travel, I wear heavier shoes, and I put lighter ones in my backpack! Both pairs should be comfortable!

Accessories

For accessories, I take with me a small bag and a fabric tote, which fold easily and perfectly into a backpack. During the day, when traveling, I travel with a backpack, and in the evening, when I go out, I take a small bag. A shopping bag - for unexpected purchases.

Among the obligatory accessories in my backpack there will always be one snood or stole, as well as a light scarf with which I cover my head when entering a church/monastery. This scarf always travels with me and takes up about a gram of weight.

Like any girl, I add jewelry to my looks, so when traveling with a minimum amount of clothing, bright, unusual accessories will always save the day. IN Lately I prefer brooches

Or it could be a collar/necklace. I also take sunglasses with me.

Gadgets

The minimum set of gadgets on my trip is a lightweight Panasonic Lumix GF6 mirrorless camera, an iPhone 5s and an old Transcend player with my favorite music.

Important things

One of important details- glasses for vision, these are my second eyes, I can’t live without them. I also include a wallet with cash and cards, and a flash drive for photos in this category. In my backpack you can always find a notepad with a pen because... when traveling, I always write down the most important important information, which I collect bit by bit for the blog, I keep booklets and tickets as souvenirs.

It seems like I’ve listed so many things here that it won’t all fit into my backpack! But I assure you, this is not so. The basic contents I showed as an example today fit easily into my backpack. The main thing is to train yourself and reassure yourself that these things will really be enough for you!

I hope my experience was at least a little useful to you! Have fun traveling with a light suitcase!

Well, spring has come, I don’t really want to sit at home in a chair with a book, and it seems that everyone is already planning a vacation. I increasingly began to come across photographs of suitcases and vacation sets and decided to make here a selection of vacation capsules that fit into one suitcase (sometimes even into hand luggage).

Here are examples of capsules for different types vacations - both at sea and in the city, for different weather conditions.

And, by the way, there are many good formulas when capsule compilers offer a certain number of “tops”, “bottoms”, accessories and so on, I think it will be easier for many with such mathematics.

All pictures are clickable and lead to the original sources.

Monochrome capsule. Pay attention to a smart top, pumps and a clutch - things that can turn the entire set from casual into smart casual.

Autumn wardrobe for two weeks. The neutral base and several accents of dull colors, ideal for the summer color type, combine quite well with each other, and the capsule does not turn out boring.

And here is the formula for how to assemble a wardrobe capsule for a vacation in a southern resort.

Mini-cheat sheet on how to pack things in a suitcase.

A 3-week wardrobe capsule that fits in your carry-on luggage. In fact, there is a rather controversial combination of colors here (black and white contrasts with bright blue for the “winter” color type, and here pearl-gray scarf with dusty shades for “summer”). But the set of things itself can be taken as a basis by adjusting the color scheme.

Another attempt to develop a capsule wardrobe formula. A good approach is to first assemble a basic capsule and then add color accents to it.

How to pack a wardrobe for two weeks in your hand luggage (plus in this list you can immediately estimate how much space will be taken up by other necessary things that are usually not included in wardrobe sets - underwear, pajamas, cosmetic bag, shower slippers, etc.):

What to take with you to Europe in spring - a very minimalist capsule:

And again - 16 things, 40 outfits in one suitcase. Not a bad mini-wardrobe for autumn-spring, however, for traveling I personally am embarrassed by shoes here, especially rubber boots - there are not many places where they will really be needed, and putting heavy hunters, as in the photo, in a suitcase is immediately +2 .5 kg, which, given the limit of many airlines for hand luggage 10 kg is already critical.

Vacation capsule for the “summer” color type (16 things that will fit in a suitcase. Pay attention to the list - based on it, you can assemble a capsule from what you have in your wardrobe):

And again, a capsule for a vacation in Paris, this time in the summer - but in fact, just a good summer capsule, with which you can go to Samara and Sochi. But personally, here I would replace two pairs of shorts with two skirts - long and semi-long, this will give more room for creativity.

Another fall capsule for the week that should fit in your carry-on luggage. Pay attention to the colors: the capsule is small, but due to the multi-colored tops it gives a feeling of variety.

Here is a small but very bright capsule. Be careful with prints and textures; everything here should be in perfect harmony in color.

Wardrobe for a trip to Europe. A good neutral base, but here it would be better to replace some of the things with brighter ones - otherwise this capsule will get boring very quickly.

Summer capsule in pastel colors - a story more likely for a work trip:

A very simple mini-capsule in a casual style - you can take it with you on a trip for a week. And again, an excellent formula: 4 basic looks + an additional layer (sweatshirt and bright cardigan) to diversify the capsule.

The capsule is called "7 winter days“, but the number of tops here seems excessive - but for two weeks this is a good option.

Again questions about color, but here good set things to look quite varied in style - from completely casual looks with a plaid shirt and sneakers, to formal ones with a little black dress and a complex cardigan (by the way, it can also be worn with boots and sneakers),

And again the formula: accessories - 5 items, 4 tops, 3 bottoms, 2 pairs of shoes, a bag. Great option for cool summer or warm spring in the city.

A capsule in a casual style for a vacation by the lake or cool sea (for example, for spring Crete on a last-minute package or something similar).

And again whole list for a suitcase where everything has already been calculated. A completely viable capsule for a vacation in the city, but I would take the second trousers here simply in white, beige or pink - otherwise it’s easy to miss the mix of prints, and the dress can be lengthened).

Here's another tiny two-week capsule with explanations (and it'll actually fit in your carry-on).

This capsule is offered for three weeks and can also be included in hand luggage (this is already doubtful - there are 5 pairs of shoes), but it is also an option for those who like variety:

Instructions

Documents, money, credit cards(MANDATORY!) and things, the absence of which upon arrival will cause you serious inconvenience, must be taken in. What if your luggage accidentally flies to another place? Don't be afraid, this happens extremely rarely, but just in case, you need to provide for all situations.

Before packing your clothes, find out what the weather will be like. If you are traveling to warm coast, remember that the air temperature is indicated in the shade. That is, if it is written that in Hurghada it is +21-23, this means that in absolutely cloudless weather (and believe me, it will be cloudless) the temperature will reach +28-30 degrees. You understand, at this temperature, one light windbreaker will be enough for evening walks. Things should be as versatile as possible and combine with each other. This will allow you to minimum quantity create clothes maximum amount images Don't take expensive designer items with you. This rule also applies to Jewelry. If you still decide to take them, pack them in your hand luggage. It is better to pack clothes in bags, since you will be taking cosmetics with you that can stain things. Shoes, especially heels, are best placed in the center of the suitcase so that sharp edges do not damage the upholstery or compromise the integrity of the luggage.

Do not take gels, shampoos, creams, personal hygiene products, etc. with you. All this can be purchased upon arrival at the supermarket closest to the hotel. If you have a specific one that is difficult to find in a regular store, pour shampoos and creams into more compact tubes. Pack thermal water and other liquids whose volume exceeds 100 ml in your luggage. Pack liquids in plastic bags so that when you use, for example, nail polish remover, it does not spill and stain all your clothes. Place your manicure accessories in your suitcase too. Carrying piercing and cutting objects as hand luggage is strictly prohibited. Beach towels can also be purchased upon arrival. In addition, in some hotels, beach towels are already included in the price and are provided.

Phone, laptop or tablet, camera, charging device, of course, you need to take it in your hand luggage. Think carefully about whether you need a hairdryer and iron on vacation. Many hotels do not provide an iron upon request, but force you to dry-clean your items for very impressive sums. As a rule, a hotel hairdryer will not do normal styling: it will either be low-powered or awkwardly attached to the wall. Following this reasoning, it makes sense to take a hair dryer and iron with you. Just buy special compact road equipment. And don’t forget about the adapter for the outlet, otherwise all your devices may be useless.

Be sure to take analgesics, antiseptics, antidiarrheals, antipyretics, personal medications and vitamins you need. In many countries, the medicine can only be purchased with a doctor’s prescription, and most likely, the name of this medicine will be different, so it is unlikely that you will be able to navigate the pharmacy yourself when purchasing the medicine. It is better to take all necessary medications with you. Have a nice trip!

The long-awaited vacation is ahead, it's time to pack your bags. You will learn how to do this correctly and what you need to take on vacation in this article.

Before you start packing, check the prices in the area where you will go on vacation. It is possible that it will be irrational to bring some things; it will be easier to buy them on vacation. You can easily find information about prices on the Internet or your travel agent will kindly tell you about them. And now we offer a list of what you must take on vacation.

The most important

  • We take documents first. Don’t forget about the voucher, passport, vouchers for accommodation and transfer, driver license, tickets. Check that you have all the documents 7 times, only then put them in your bag.
  • Money. It is convenient to have not only an account on a card, but also cash. To avoid an awkward moment, exchange pairs in advance large bills for tips.
  • Means of communication. Mobile phone(think about the card in advance: use a local one or buy it at travel agency) and charger. If you have a long journey ahead, it is convenient to take a laptop or tablet. Record a couple of interesting films there and enjoy the trip.
  • Medicines. Insure yourself against unfavorable situations related to your health. The first aid kit should contain an antipyretic, a medicine for a sore throat and a cold, a medicine for an upset stomach, pills for headaches and motion sickness, brilliant green, iodine, a bandage, a bactericidal patch and insect repellent. Other drugs are at your discretion.

For personal use

  • Cloth. Don't take too many things. If you are going to be active and beach holiday, we take with us T-shirts, shorts, sandals, caps, and a swimsuit. For the evening (restaurants, clubs) grab a few evening dresses(or a shirt and trousers if you are a man).
  • Personal care products and cosmetics. Not all hotels offer this set cosmetics, so you should take care of toothpaste, brush, shampoo, deodorant, shower gel. Bring sunscreen and decorative cosmetics with you.

Other things

  • Essential products. They will be needed for active, independent and economical tourists. Groceries will save money on vacation if your price does not include lunch and dinner. Canned goods, cookies and snacks are good options.
  • Photo or video equipment. Don't forget to capture happy moments your journey.
  • Multifunctional knife. If you fly by plane, do not forget to transfer it from your carry-on luggage to your main luggage.
  • Travel mat, boiler, mug, spoon, plate.

Vacation with a child

Packing a suitcase for a trip is not an easy task, especially if you are traveling with the whole family. In this case, an important question arises about what to take on vacation for the child.

  • One of the main things is a favorite toy. If you forget it, you will initially ruin your vacation.
  • We take panties, T-shirts, and tights in abundance.
  • Baby hygiene products.
  • Several pajamas - light and warm.
  • Shorts, T-shirts, sundresses.
  • Be sure to wear light clothing that covers your body so as not to get sunburned in the first days.
  • Warm clothes for evening walks (sweater, pants).
  • Sun protection hat.
  • A pair of swimsuits.
  • Beach toys (buckets, shovels, balls).
  • Comfortable shoes. At least one pair should be closed in case of rain.
  • Medicines prescribed by your pediatrician.
  • If the child is still very small, do not forget special food for the child, diapers, pacifiers and drinking bowls, and a mosquito net.

We have offered you a list of what you absolutely must take on vacation. Make a list of necessary things in advance. Check that all clothing is comfortable. It must be washed and ironed in advance; it is better to leave jewelry at home (as practice shows, they are often lost). Have a nice holiday and bright impressions!

Hello again, dear readers of the site “I and the World”! Spring has arrived, summer is just around the corner, and the long-awaited vacation is here. Some will stay at home, while others will go to other countries “to the seas and oceans.” Today we invite you to discuss: what to take with you to the sea?

Where do you start getting ready for vacation? Of course, by thinking through and making a list of things that you will take with you. Everything you need will depend on the time of year you plan to vacation. But since we have spring and summer ahead, we will talk specifically about these months.

Let's start with the most necessary things: documents and money. Foreign passport, tickets, insurance, driver's license (if you have one), credit cards, plastic cards, cash. These items should be at the top of your list! Everything else can be bought, but if you leave behind any documents or money, consider that your vacation has been ruined.

The necessary medications must be placed in the first aid kit in advance. It’s even better to put in something extra than to realize later at the most unpleasant moment that these pills are not there. We will provide a list of the most necessary medications, which are difficult to live without in a foreign country:

  • medications prescribed by your doctor;
  • painkillers and antipyretics;
  • for indigestion;
  • of course, bandage, cotton wool, iodine, plaster;
  • sedatives;
  • from poisoning and allergies;
  • from motion sickness.

Remedies for insect bites are not medicines, but they are very useful in any exotic country. Well, why not take contraceptives for fun “to the fullest.”

A list of hygiene products is also quite necessary. And although all this can be bought, as they say in any store “around the corner,” nothing is superfluous:

  • toothbrush and paste, toothpicks;
  • soap, shampoo, gel;
  • toilet paper;
  • comb;
  • cotton pads and sticks;
  • for women and teenage girls - pads or tampons;
  • for men - razor or machines, foam;
  • Definitely a favorite perfume.

If your holiday will take place under the hot sea sun, do not forget to pack sunscreen and tanning products suitable for your skin in your suitcase.

Have you already imagined yourself at the seaside in the summer? And what clothes and what shoes will you wear to the beach, and then walk around the city. For a typical holiday of a week or 10 days, take with you:

  • lightweight, quick-drying slippers and cotton clothing;
  • sunglasses;
  • swimsuit, swimming trunks;
  • towel, pareo;
  • T-shirt, shorts, blouse;
  • shirt, light trousers, summer shoes, socks;
  • hats;
  • a book (so as not to fall asleep and burn out) or a children's book with fairy tales.

By the way, when choosing a country for your vacation, know that each is unusual in its own way. For example, in Turkey the sea begins to warm up only by mid-April or the May holidays. This means you need warm clothes for evening walks. But let us remind men who smoke that they need to take cigarettes, because some complain about poor quality Turkish tobacco.

You can take an air mattress with you, but it is an extra burden in your suitcase, so you can take it at the hotel or on the beach.

You took almost everything, but what about the camera? It's good if your smartphone has an excellent camera. But if this is not so, then without a good camera A trip to the sea is simply indispensable. Beautiful photos A must give to your friends!

To the subject for filming you need to add:

  • selfie stick;
  • Charger;
  • flash drive;
  • laptop or tablet.

If you're going on a trip with your child, grab a couple of his favorite toys. It will be easier for the baby to adapt to an unfamiliar place.

If you are going to travel by car, you cannot do without food on the road, so as not to stop and shop once again. What products should I take with me?

  • Whole grain crackers.
  • Hard vegetables (carrots, cucumbers, radishes).
  • Place the fruit in a box with a small amount of ice.
  • Any nuts and seeds (you can make granola).
  • Instead of soda, take water or homemade lemonade.
  • Sandwiches.

There is a day left before the trip, and you are in painful thoughts: how to stuff all this into a suitcase? Vacuum bags and a vacuum cleaner will save you. But when leaving the hotel, you will have to ask the maid for a vacuum cleaner. If you get creative with your packing, you can cram a lot more stuff into your suitcase or travel bag than you think.

We have offered a list of things that you, of course, can change to your own. But we tried not to forget the most important thing: what clothes to take, what sunscreen, what will be useful on vacation in the summer and spring, medications, etc. If you want to add something, write in the comments and share with your friends. And we say goodbye to you until we meet at sea!
