The company produces modern expansion joints using components from the company " Maurer - Sohne "(Germany), the quality of which meets the requirements of the German standard and Russian standards.

It constructs a road surface in the area of expansion joints using modified cast asphalt, which allows solving the problem of an unstable section of the road surface, increasing the service life of expansion joints by reducing impact loads, and ensuring smooth travel without the formation of rutting.

The company's products are used in bridge structures on roads of the Federal network throughout Russia, in the construction of ring roads in Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as on railway bridge structures. In recent years, more than 9,000 linear meters of expansion joints have been manufactured and installed at sites.

Specialists of LLC "MF "Moscow-Maurer-Most", who have undergone special training in Germany at the company "Maurer-Shone", in combination with the installation of expansion joints, provide technical support and development of projects for tying joint structures individually for specific objects.

The Moscow-Maurer-Most bridge construction company has mastered the stable production of single-profile expansion joints MMM D-50, MMM D-80, MMM D-100 and a two-profile MMM DT-160R joint using technology and components from Maurer Sohne (Germany) , the quality of which meets the requirements of the German standard and Russian regulatory documents, including TU 5851-001-45762500-2000.

Clear separation of the two main functions of expansion joints, i.e. “rigid anchorage” and “watertightness”, allows both components to be designed correctly. The end profiles of the expansion joint are firmly connected to the elements of the structure by combining into a single monolithic structure, fatigue tested and welded directly to the end profiles of the anchors.

MAURER expansion joints feature a very efficient way of fastening the neoprene expansion tape into the end profile lock without the use of screws or rivets. The special shape of the compensator with a thin wall before thickening at the edges creates a wedging effect and guarantees absolute tightness. Moreover, they can be installed and replaced from the road surface using simple tools and can be joined together by hot vulcanization directly on the construction site.

The products of our company are used in bridge structures on the roads of the Federal network, during the construction of the Moscow Ring Road, the 3rd transport ring in Moscow, as well as the road under construction along the transport bypass of St. Petersburg, the Don and Amur highways and other objects. Over the past three years, more than 5,000 linear meters of expansion joints have been manufactured and installed in many regions of Russia.

Expansion joints (DC) in the roadway must ensure freedom of deformation of the spans when exposed to temperature and temporary moving load. Expansion joints There are open, closed, filled and covered (Table 7.1).

Table 7.1 - Classification of expansion joints of road bridges

Moving the ends of spans to closed seams is realized due to the deformation of the asphalt concrete pavement laid without breaking over the gap between the ends of adjacent beams.

IN filled expansion joints when moving the ends of adjacent beams, the filler, made using mastic or a rubber compensator (simple or modular), is deformed.

Covered expansion joints characterized by a change in the position of the element bridging the gap relative to the seam border.

Figure 7.4 shows the design of a filled expansion joint DShRM-70, designed for movements of up to 70 mm with a rubber compensator fixed in the grooves of metal profiles using a rubber fixing cord.

Rice. 7.4 - Expansion joint DShRM-70 with rubber compensator: 1 - working coating; 2 - protective layer; 3 - fines with crushed stone-mastic filling; 4 - elastic mastic or sealant; 5 - rubber compensator; 6 - rubber fixing cord; 7 - metal profile; 8 - anchor bolt

The construction of this expansion joint involves the installation of metal profiles (7) with their fastening with anchor bolts (8) to the concrete beams of the spans and subsequent filling of the groove with cube-shaped crushed stone with polymer bitumen mastic.

Currently, expansion joints from the company are widely used in bridge construction. Maurer- Sohne D160, D240, D320, D640. The design of the seams is the same, the only difference is in the number of expansion joints, which determines the amount of movement. (Fig. 7.5) shows a modular expansion joint D240 as an example.

Fig. 7.5 - Modular expansion joint D-240 Maurer Sohne: 1 - rubber profile (compensator); 2 - edging (end supporting profile); 3 - beams (intermediate load-bearing element); 4 - traverses; 5 - regulating elastic elements (shock absorbers); 6 - support devices; 7 - box; 8 - anchor

The expansion joint (DC) design is supplied by the manufacturer completely ready for a specific object. Before installing the longwall, debris and dirt are removed from the groove between the span and the abutment, or between adjacent spans into which the longwall structures are to be installed. Jet-abrasive cleaning is carried out. The mounting element of the LH structure is fed by a crane into the prepared fine. The top of the LH structure is set to the design level.

The position of the LH structure is fixed by welding to the fittings outlets in the niche. After installation is completed, formwork is installed on the inside for concreting the grooves. After the commission has accepted the formwork, the reinforcement of the groove with longitudinal reinforcement is completed and it is monolithic. The DS structure is closed; concrete mixture is not allowed to get on the expansion joints.

Laying of asphalt concrete pavement is carried out in accordance with technological regulations, which should reflect the features of a particular object.

Used for movements of 50-100 mm. They are anchored into road pavement using Betoflex polymer concrete.
The seams of these structures are tight and resistant to loads and aggressive environmental factors, do not disturb the evenness of the roadway, in addition, their installation does not require opening the concrete of the spans, which weakens the cross-section and requires a lot of time to carry out work on the installation of seams.
The Maurer Betoflex expansion joint structures are manufactured by the German company MAURER Sohne GmbH. Defshov LLC supplies and installs Maurer Betoflex joints in Russia. The delivery set includes: steel edging profile, rubber compensator, cold-curing Betoflex polymer concrete components.
There are technical specifications and a technical certificate from the State Committee for Construction of the Russian Federation for expansion joints of this system.

Maurer Betoflex expansion joint construction technology

The Maurer Betoflex expansion joint structure is installed on the bridge after receiving preparatory work from the builders: installation of tides at the ends of the roadway slab, waterproofing, drainage system and layers of road pavement in the area where the joints are placed.

1. Elements of the metal edging are prepared, hung on traverses and installed in clamps in the design position.

2. Prepare Betoflex polymer concrete; The polymer solution is poured into the groove immediately after mixing in the mixer.

3. After the polymer concrete is removed (after 10-12 hours), the rubber compensator is filled.

For bridge structures with pedestrian loads, a joint design is proposed Maurer Betoflex Kompakt, providing movements from 30 (grade K-30) to 50 mm (grade K-50). These seams are anchored into the pavement with Betoflex polymer concrete. In Moscow, these seams were installed on pedestrian bridges across the Moscow River (formerly Andreevsky and Krasnoluzhsky), as well as on staircases of several road bridges and tunnels.
Movement after installation of joints anchored with Betoflex polymer concrete can be opened 12 hours after its installation. Since Maurer Betoflex seams are installed in road pavement, installation is carried out quite quickly, installation speed is 8-10 m/shift.
They do not require special care; you only need to clean the rubber compensator when it gets dirty.
These seams are highly repairable, because allow you to restore seams in the shortest possible time (in one or two shifts, depending on the volume of repair work), which is very important in conditions of high-intensity vehicle traffic.

MAURER SÖHNE has been known for over 40 years as a world leader in the design and production of expansion joints. Intensive development in cooperation with renowned research institutes has created the basis for the improvement of MAURER expansion joints. The success of the company, achieved throughout the world, allows us to solve modern construction problems at a high level and improve further technical development.

  • Absolutely waterproof
  • Safe transfer of transport loads
  • Wear resistance and rigid fastening in the structure
  • Resilient, unrestricted and shock-absorbing support for all moving components
  • Clear static system with compact layout and high vehicle travel comfort

Expansion joints are the most dynamically loaded elements of bridges. They are directly exposed to traffic and thereby forces and influences, the combination of which is rarely encountered in conventional construction. They must be resistant to both mechanical influences (dynamics, shock, fatigue, abrasion) and chemical and physical influences. Clear separation of the two main functions of expansion joints, i.e. “rigid anchorage” and “watertightness”, allows both components to be designed correctly. Some experts say: “An expansion joint is only as good as its anchorage.” And they are absolutely right. The end profiles are firmly connected to the building elements using fatigue-tested anchors welded directly to the end profiles. To absorb maximum loads from moving vehicles, they are inserted into the load-bearing reinforcement of the structure.

Since bolted joints, due to the nature of the operation of any expansion joints, sooner or later, but certainly fail. Therefore, MAURER SÖHNE strives not to use them at all or to reduce their use to a minimum. MAURER expansion joints demonstrate a clear separation between the functions of load transfer and water tightness. An expansion joint that combines both tasks in one element will certainly fail no matter what. MAURER expansion joints are characterized by a very efficient way of fastening the rubber strip expansion joint into the end profile lock without the use of additional wedging elements or screw clamps. The special shape of the compensator with a thin wall before thickening at the edges creates a self-jamming effect and guarantees absolute tightness.

Moreover, they can be installed and replaced from the road surface using simple tools and can be joined together by hot vulcanization directly on the construction site. End profiles protect the compensator from the effects of traffic, the V-shaped shape of the compensator ensures its self-cleaning. Intensive research and development combined with the experience gained from installing over 1,000,000 m of expansion joints has made us the world's leading manufacturer of expansion joints for bridges and civil engineering. Our structures with displacements of up to 2600 mm and more have been installed on the world's largest bridge structures

Since 2007, MAURER SÖHNE has been producing expansion joints using a hybrid profile, which further protects the joint structure against corrosion.

MAURER modular expansion joints are structures in which the required movement is achieved by introducing an appropriate number of standard modules into them, which are used as expansion joints in the construction of bridges and airport runways with heavy traffic. They meet all design requirements and are technically approved in accordance with the German TL/TP – FÜ regulations. To protect the underlying joint elements and load-bearing structures of the structure from the penetration of dirt and aggressive surface water, MAURER modular expansion joints are equipped with tape-sealing rubber expansion joints secured in the locks of the steel load-bearing joint profiles.
