The first cartoon appeared in Russia in 1910. It was created by director Vladislav Starevich. This cartoon was about beetles and was not at all like what we were used to seeing. It was filmed for educational purposes: the first Russian animator did not intend to entertain young viewers at all, he wanted to create a documentary about beetles. However, during filming, he encountered a problem - when he set the right light, the beetles refused to move. Then Vladislav Starevich made stuffed beetles, attached strings to them and shot the film frame by frame. This picture was called the first puppet cartoon. Starevich produced several more similar insect-themed cartoons, but now he used real scripts. These cartoons were very popular among viewers - many did not understand how the pictures were made and were surprised at how the author managed to train the beetles in such a way.

Slide description:

Real cartoons appeared a few years later during the Soviet years. The first cartoon with sound - "Mail" - was based on the work of Samuil Marshak in 1930. The author of the script was Marshak himself. Soviet animators began working with color in the late 1930s. Already the first experiments ended successfully - such color films as “Sweet Pie” (1936), “Little Red Riding Hood” (1937) and “Little Mook” (1939) appeared on the screens of the country.

Slide description:

In the post-war period, Soviet animation not only quickly recovered, but also continued to develop rapidly. At this time, domestic cartoons began to slowly but surely enter the world animation arena. The most notable films of that period are “Sinbad the Sailor”, “The Lost Letter”, “Spring Melodies” and “The Little Humpbacked Horse”.

Slide description:

Creating a cartoon is a long and painstaking work of many people. In the mid-50s, cartoons were made in large groups: about 20-30 people worked on just one 8-minute cartoon. The group was divided into the following categories: -Director (manages the entire project) -Producer (pays expenses) -Scriptwriters (think through every frame of the cartoon) -Artists (make the cartoon beautiful) -Composers (select the music)

6 slide

Slide description:

One cartoon took from 3 months to 1 year to create. Any cartoon begins with a script. It takes a long time to write and is difficult, the dialogues change several times, some scenes are thrown out completely. And only when the whole film has been put together on paper can it be drawn.

7 slide

Slide description:

What the cartoon characters will look like in profile and from the front, front and back, what they look like in motion is decided by the film's production designer. He has to draw so much that an enormous number of pencils are worn out in a day.

8 slide

Slide description:

Then animators join the game, under whose hands the cartoon characters come to life. For example, in order for the hero to raise his hand, animators need to draw a considerable number of frames. There are 25 of them in one second. And if the cartoon lasts an hour and a half, you will need to create 135,000 frames.

Slide 9

Slide description:

The result of the animators' work is picked up by the rendering artists. As a result, we have a color film. But there are not only heroes on the screen, they are surrounded by trees and cities. All these backgrounds are created by many other artists.

10 slide

Slide description:

And the most interesting thing is how the characters talk. The entire dialogue is recorded on a voice recorder. Then they count the time (down to milliseconds) per word in the dialogue. And under each letter you need to draw a mouth. So the characters move their mouths with each word. The actors' voices are recorded before the animators start working, that is, the characters first have voices, and only then they begin to animate them based on their lines. And what would a cartoon be without music and songs?

Slide description:

The most common technology for creating cartoons is animation. Animation is the magical technology that makes inanimate objects move. For animation, the main thing is to create actions and effects that are impossible in reality. Only in this fairy-tale world can you fly, change your appearance, and recreate yourself. The animation of objects looks magical. It’s amazing how small grains of sand can form a sand castle on their own, or how a pencil can suddenly, without anyone’s influence, begin to draw bizarre images on paper.

Progress of the lesson:

Educator: Hello guys! Our today I will start with a poem:

There are many cartoons in the world

Sad and funny.

And live in the world

We can't live without them.

Let the cartoon characters

They give us warmth.

May goodness forever

Evil wins!

Educator: Guys, October 28 is International Animation Day.

Educator: Guys, do you like watching cartoons? Why?

What cartoon is your favorite? (each has his own)

What is animation? Animation or animation is a type of film art in which a film is created by filming drawings or puppet scenes frame-by-frame

What do you think, who creates a cartoon and how? (children's answers)

Educator: Let's go to the fascinating country of "Animation" and learn more about cartoons. Guys, since this is a fairy-tale country, we will go there on fairy-tale transport. What fabulous transport do you know? We will fly with you on a carpet airplane. Many interesting and difficult challenges await us on our way. You are ready?

Music from a fairy tale is turned on.

Educator: And here is our first stop. Here we will find out what technologies for creating cartoons are available.

There are many technologies for creating cartoons:

- Hand-drawn animation

Individual designs are photographed frame by frame and then projected onto a screen at different speeds.

- Puppet animation

The doll is positioned directly in front of the camera and photographed frame by frame, with minimal changes made to its pose each time to create the illusion of movement during subsequent projection.

- Plasticine animation

Plasticine animation is similar to puppet animation - three-dimensional characters molded from plasticine are located in a three-dimensional decoration. They animate characters in space, specially strengthening them in the scenery, sometimes using additional supports and pendants.

-Sand animation

The luminous surface is used for applying images with sand or other bulk materials. A camera mounted above records the resulting picture or the entire drawing process.

- Silhouette animation

Figures cut out of cardboard or other material are superimposed on celluloid film, and their position changes slightly for each subsequent frame. Scissors, paper, a movie camera and a beam of light are all you need to create a masterpiece.

- Computer animation

Actors in special suits with sensors make movements that are recorded by cameras and analyzed by special programs. This technology allows us to achieve a high level of authenticity in character movements.

Educator: A musical stop awaits us. The game is called "Guess the Song".

Backing tracks of songs from famous cartoons. Children should name the cartoon and, if possible, sing.

From the cartoon “Cheburashka and the Crocodile Gena”

From the cartoon "The Fixies"

From the cartoon "Masha and the Bear"

From the cartoon "Winnie the Pooh and That's All"

From the cartoon "Leopold the Cat"

For correct answers, children receive a coloring book from the cartoon.

Educator: Our flight continues further. And now we find out who creates cartoons. There are a lot of people working on the cartoon.

The most important person when creating a cartoon is the director. He is the one who comes up with who and what the cartoon will be about. He creates characters and comes up with adventures for them - this is called a cartoon plot or script. Everything that happens to the characters in the cartoon is invented by the director.

Vyacheslav Kotyonochkin came up with the cartoon “Well, wait a minute!” It was he who introduced the guys to the Wolf and the Hare. Thanks to Roman Kachanov, Cheburashka, the crocodile Gena and the mischievous old woman Shapoklyak appeared.

The director tells the artists his ideas. The character artist listens carefully and imagines the future cartoon character. He takes plasticine or paints, or fabrics, and then sculpts, or draws, or sews and... the result is a cartoon - plasticine, or drawn, or puppet. A set designer is a decorator who creates a plan for a cartoon. The plan is the background (sky, earth) and scenery (houses, cars, trees).

Once the characters and scenery are ready, the animator and cameraman get to work. They work together. The animator moves the hero figures, and the operator shoots frame by frame - photographs each movement. This results in a lot of photographs – a whole tape. Each frame is slightly different from the other one, the one next to it.

But even now the cartoon is not ready - without cheerful music the cartoon will be boring. Composers write music for cartoons. Often a song from a cartoon becomes as famous as the cartoon itself. And then all the guys sing this song. Everyone knows the song of the crocodile Gena “The blue carriage runs, sways...”. The music for this song was written by Vladimir Shainsky. And also, when all the photographs of the cartoon characters have been taken, they need to be voiced. The cartoon characters are voiced by real actors. The director chooses the voice for his character himself. The characters talk and laugh in the voices of actors.

The entire cartoon is assembled on a computer by an editor. All photos scroll through the screen very quickly. This is where a miracle happens - the characters begin to come to life: smile, blink, walk.

Educator. Guys, what needs to be done to make the cartoon work?

Educator: We continue our journey through the country of Animation. And our stop “Connoisseurs”. Let's remember what these people are doing? I throw you a ball and name the profession of a cartoonist, and you return the ball to me and tell me what this person does.

The director invents, writes, composes.

Artists - sculpt, draw, sew.

Animator - moves, moves.

The operator takes photographs and films.

The composer writes,

Actor - voices.

Editor - assembles a cartoon on a computer.

For correct answers, children receive a coloring book from the cartoon.

Educator: Well done!

Summarizing.

Educator. Well done guys, you remembered all the professions and what these people do when creating their part of the cartoon. You have overcome all the challenges along the way. Our journey through the country “Animation” is coming to an end. But our work continues. I suggest you create your own cartoon, and for this you need to first write a script for our future cartoon. We'll do this in the next lesson. Thanks for the work!

Do you know how and when cartoons appeared?
At the end of the 19th century there were no televisions, no computers, no smartphones, no tablets. They haven't been invented yet. But there were such devices as the zoetrope, magic lantern, thaumatrope, daedaleum and others.
These devices set in motion a series of alternating images, creating the illusion of movement. At first they were used in entertainment shows, to create special effects and as toys.
On October 28, 1892, in Paris, the French inventor Emile Reynaud surprised the audience with a new, unprecedented entertainment - the Optical Theater.

In front of an astonished audience, he demonstrated “Luminous Pantomimes” using an optical device.
And it all started like this...
The same Emil Reynaud in 1877 designed a device - a praxinoscope. He looked like this. A tape with 8 or 12 pictures was placed on the inside of the rotating cylinder. In the center there is a row of small mirrors. When the cylinder was set in motion, each picture was reflected in the mirror and the effect of smooth movement appeared.

Comedy skits created by Emile Reynaud were very popular at that time.
The first traditional cartoon is considered to be “The Humorous Phases of Funny Faces.” It was created in 1906 by the Anglo-American film director
J. Stewart Blackton. Thanks to time-lapse photography, he combined the art of graphics with film techniques.
And the first cartoon character to become famous throughout the world was Felix the cat from the film “The Adventures of Felix” by American screenwriter and artist Otto Messmer.

Over the years of development of animation, various techniques for its creation have appeared. One of the oldest types is hand-drawn animation.

Initially, each frame was drawn separately. This was a very long and labor-intensive process, so they came up with the layer-by-layer technique.
The characters and scenery were drawn on transparent films and superimposed on each other.
To do this, we first developed the characters' movements, then drew the details with a pencil on tracing paper and transferred the drawings to celluloid.
The resulting frames were colored and photographed one by one.
Another oldest technique is silhouette animation.
For a cartoon, flat shapes are cut out of paper or thick fabric. They then move in each frame and are filmed.

For example, one of the famous Russian cartoons filmed in this way is “Lefty” (1964).

Puppet animation appeared in Russia in 1906.

Balletmeister Alexander Shiryaev createdal the world's first domestic puppet cartoonilm, in which 12 dancing figures participate.

They say h During its creation, the author rubbed a hole in the parquet floor with his feet, because he constantly walked from the movie camera to the set and back.

Puppet and plasticine animation is well known to everyone. Here three-dimensional characters are installed against the backdrop of scenery and photographed. After each frame in the scene, the hero's pose changes.

The first plasticine cartoons appeared in 1908 in the USA.

In animation, there are also techniques such as “glass painting” - this is when the artist paints with slowly drying oil paint on a glass surface, each time adding new strokes directly in front of the camera; “cameraless animation” - when the artist does not photograph images, but draws them directly on film, black or colorless;or “powder animation”, where materials such as sand, salt, coffee, spices are poured onto illuminated glass in thin layers, creating a pattern with hands or a brush and transferring its image to the screen.

Today, computer technology is increasingly being used to create cartoons.
3D animation. Scenes are simulated in three-dimensional space on a computer,
and the figures have a virtual skeleton.
The first such full-length cartoon was “Toy Story” (1995).

The largest animation studio in our country appeared in 1936. It was called “Soyuzdetmultfilm”, and later became “Soyuzmultfilm”.

The first Russian animated series “Well, Just Wait!” was created here.

You can get acquainted with the history of animation at the Moscow Animation Museum.

Its collection contains more than five thousand exhibits, unique materials collected by the museum are shown on video screens in the halls, and there is a cinema hall for children, where cartoons are filmed and shown.

DIY cartoonTake a notepad and pencil. Think about who you want to portray.
For example, it will be a walking man.
On the first page - the opening frame - it stands.
On the next one, the right leg and left arm are slightly raised.
On the third - even higher, then the leg bends at the knee, and the hand at the elbow, and so on. On each page you need to consistently depict all the parts of the movements that the hero makes while walking.
When the last frame is ready, you can quickly flip through the pages and see how the little man moves.
Your first cartoon is ready!

Some interesting facts about cartoons:

Mickey Mouse
Walt Disney, creator of Mickey Mouse, was afraid of mice.
Mickey Mouse received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Walt Disney Company is fighting to maintain copyright protection for the image of Mickey Mouse, which in 2008 was valued at more than three billion US dollars.
Due to the company's activities aimed at periodically extending the terms of protection of property copyrights, Mickey Mouse never became public domain by 2008
Scrooge McDuck
In 2007, Glasgow City Council included Scrooge McDuck in its list of outstanding citizens.
Scrooge McDuck topped Forbes magazine's 2007 list of the fifteen richest fictional characters.

Shrek
When recording the characters' lines, the actors never met - each of them worked separately, and their partners' lines were spoken by an assistant.

The Donkey's movements in the film were modeled by the animators on the dog's movements - with the exception of the chase scene at the beginning of the film, in which the Donkey's movements were modeled on the rabbit's movements.

Winnie the Pooh
In the Soviet cartoon, Winnie the Pooh was voiced by Evgeniy Leonov. To achieve greater comedy, the artist's speech was sped up by about 30%. If you reduce the speed by this value, you can hear the usual Leonov.

Wait for it!
The Wolf acquired his famous hairstyle and characteristic appearance only in the second issue of the cartoon. In the first episode, his hairstyle and appearance are different from the version familiar to viewers.
The Wolf can play the guitar (and also the harp, although in his sleep) and sing in a hoarse voice in the manner of Vysotsky. She dances well. Competently skis and skates. Drives a car and motorcycle poorly. It handles much better with a truck crane, combine harvester and other similar mechanisms.

Return of the Prodigal Parrot
Child psychologists use the plot of the cartoon to resolve conflict situations with teenagers.
Parrot Kesha has long become a commercial brand, which is actively promoted by copyright holders and pirates.
Thus, video games have been created (for example, “Freedom for Parrots!” and “Kesha in the World of Fairy Tales”), coloring books, etc.
The popularity of the cartoon prompted A. Kurlyandsky to write a book, which included the stories “Have you been to Tahiti?”, “And they feed us well here too!” and “Lovely!”
Once upon a time there was a dog

A bronze monument to the Wolf weighing about 200 kg was erected inTomsk in 2005.
The authors are foundry worker Maxim Petrov and consultant-artist Leonty Usov.
The wolf can pronounce eight phrases (“I’ll sing now!”, “God help!”, “Well, come in if anything happens!” and etc.).

The creators of the film tell the peculiarities of creating the character of the Wolf. At first, in the cartoon, he was drawn not as we know him.
However, when voicing the role of this hero by A. Dzhigarkhanyan, it turned out that the depicted character did not fit the actor’s voice, after which the Wolf was redrawn, and the cartoon character that the viewer saw appeared.

Ratatouille
Remy has 1.15 million hairs drawn, while Colette has 115 thousand hairs. The average person has about 110 thousand hairs.
To create a realistic look of a garbage heap, the artists photographed and examined real rotting products.

Fifteen different types of produce, such as apples, berries, bananas, mushrooms, oranges, broccoli and lettuce, were left to rot and then photographed.
During the initial character design, the sculptor created nine clay sculptures of Remy.
The cartoon was nominated for 5 Oscar nominations, including Best Animated Feature of 2007.
