The fashion world is changeable and fickle, and has time cycles. From time to time, clothes from the past come back into fashion, but often with a new name. This is how leggings become leggings and sweatshirts become sweatshirts.

I decided to write a list of fashionable and not so fashionable things, and what to call them correctly now. After all, we must somehow explain to the consultants in the store what we are looking for?

Dictionary of fashion terms

Outerwear

So what is it...

  • BOMBER- a light jacket, most often without a collar, with a round collar, with cuffs on the sleeves and waist. Once upon a time, jackets of this cut were worn by US Air Force pilots.

  • Biker Jacket, surprisingly, she remained a leather jacket. Fitted jacket with turn-down collar and diagonal zipper. Bikers and rockers love these very much. Well, fashionable ladies.

  • PARKA- in our opinion, this is either a windbreaker, often elongated, or a raincoat in a casual style. They come in autumn and winter, with lining or insulation. classic khaki parka.

Bottoms

  • . These are jeans that are fairly loose on the leg, with a low waist and a low crotch. Tailored to look like you took them off your boyfriend (hence the name) and a couple of sizes too small. Often worn with a cuff at the bottom, cropped, torn or with paint stains. Previously they could be called " jeans withmotney«

  • GIRLFRIEND JEANS. These are jeans that resemble boyfriend jeans in style. Unlike the latter, they taper towards the bottom and are quite high in fit. At least visually they look very similar. And because of this they fit into a completely different figure.

  • MOM JEANS. Who don't we take off jeans from? They look as if you borrowed jeans from your mother, and not the ones she wears now, but the ones she wore when she was young. Loose fit, high waist, antique denim with varnish. In general, if you take a boyfriend or girlfriend and make them fit at the waist, it will work out mom- jeans.

  • JEGGINS. Thin jeans, often with elastic at the top, are figure-hugging, like leggings. Very narrow and thin. In our opinion, “jeans-leggings”.

  • SLIM JEANS. They are " cigarettes" And " Uzkachi". There was a funny story with the last name. Many years ago, when they were just coming into fashion, a girl consultant in my store came up to me with the question “ The boys are looking for uskachi. What is this anyway? Where are they going to ride?". This name is more common among the male part of the population. In fact, these are regular skinny leg jeans.

  • SKINNY JEANS. Many people confuse them with slimami, but the difference is that jeans literally hug your leg like a second skin. Name from the English word skin- leather. They are often made from softer denim with a mixture of elastane. Men often call both slim and skinny skinny, because they do not know the difference.

  • JOGGERS. In our opinion, “sport pants” with a cuff at the bottom. Joggers can be not only knitted, but also denim, for example. Transfer the standard cut of sweatpants to classic trousers or jeans - you will get joggers.

  • PALAZZO. Loose-fitting, lightweight, flowy trousers. In our opinion, “skirt-pants”. Remember this in the nineties? Now we are wearing them again. In a modern interpretation, often with a high waist and pintucks.

  • Culottes. Palazzo-type trousers, only shorter. Visually they look like midi-skirt pants. Loose from the hip, with a fit at the waist.

  • LEGGINGS. What we always called "leggings".

  • CHINOS. Everyone already knows them, and everyone is tired of them. These are trousers, most often made from natural fabrics, with slanted pockets at the top, semi-fitted, tapered at the bottom, and with typical horizontal welt pockets with a button at the back. A few seasons ago they came to us from the men's wardrobe. They have almost disappeared from women's fashion, but they are still worn.

Top

  • SWEATSHIRT. This is the good old " sweatshirt“, in style reminiscent of a tracksuit top. Now they have moved from the category of sports to ordinary casual. They can be made of cotton or 100% synthetic, neoprene. Usually they have various designs and inscriptions on them, similar to ordinary T-shirts. I’ve heard another name for a sweatshirt - “ batch file“, but I don’t know how well it matches. About ten years ago, when I was still working as a sales consultant and they asked me about body shirts, I vaguely pointed into the back of the room, saying, look there, because I didn’t have the slightest idea what it was. I don’t have one, by the way, even now. Shame on me.

  • POLO. T-shirt with a shirt-style collar and several buttons. I think everyone knows about polo.

Neoprene, as a fabric, is now experiencing its peak in popularity.

  • LOOK. You can replace the name with the word “image”, which refers to what you can put on yourself. Totalonion- a completely finished look, with accessories, top, bottom, etc.
  • OUTFIT. Almost the same as a bow, only more specific. The outfit you wear when you go out.
  • LOOKBOOK (lookbook)- literally, the book of bows. And in fashion terminology - a collection of various images and outfits. This could be a website, a book, or maybe a list, a photo of your own outfits.

It seems that’s all, unless, of course, we touch the topic of accessories. There, especially with shoes on, you can easily get lost. The post about fashion terms turned out longer than I planned.

How often do you see beautiful names of clothes “cardigan”, “blazer” in posts, but in reality they turn out to be a jacket, a coat, a vest. Why not call them correctly? After all, each item of clothing and type of clothing has its own name. After all, we won’t call chamomile a chrysanthemum, although they are very similar. There is a huge amount of information on the Internet - there is an electronic encyclopedia of fashion, a dictionary of “fashionable” terms. If you don’t trust the terms below (they are, of course, incomplete, I took them selectively) - look for yourself. But let's use the CORRECT terminology.

There is, of course, a proverb: “Call me a pot, just don’t put it in the oven,” but still, we always appreciate accuracy in products made by craftswomen. So let's be careful when determining the name of clothing.

Anorak - in the classic version: a jacket with a hood, put on over the head with a kangaroo pocket. Can be with double fastener (zipper + buttons or buttons). It comes in both insulated and lightweight (summer) versions.

The jacket, roughly in the form in which we know it, appears in the 70s and 80s. 19th century in England: this is everyday (working) clothing, which was then trimmed along the sides with black braid. Nowadays it is part of a men's or women's suit - a jacket with a turn-down collar and buttoned flaps.

A cape is a short cape over the shoulders, usually not reaching the waist, worn over a dress or coat.

Polo is a sports shirt with a soft turn-down collar and a fastener to the middle of the chest.

Pullover is a knitted shirt without a collar or fastener, with sleeves and a V-neck.

A swinger is a short coat made of wool or fur with a strongly flared back.

A sweater is a knitted product with sleeves without fastening and a high collar.

A tunic is a shoulder-length garment with a straight silhouette, shorter than a skirt and longer than a blouse.

Trench coat is a coat made of thick fabric, has a flared yoke, patch pockets, and shoulder straps. All this is usually delayed.

A shrug is a narrow jacket that can be worn over sleeveless dresses or off-the-shoulder tops.
__________

The name of the store is a complex but important component of the business. It will become the main identifier among competitors and an important point for recognition among buyers. Success will depend on the name and the chosen development strategy. There are magnet names that attract customers. You can choose this name yourself or use the services of specialists.

It is recommended to come up with several names, and then consult with others. If you have already come up with a store logo, you can attach the name to it. It will influence the formation of a positive reputation and the process of attracting customers.

The name for an online store is chosen in the same way as for a regular one. But it is worth remembering that it must match the domain name, that is, be free.

Professional work

Some people don’t even suspect that there is a whole direction called naming (English: “name”). Names know well the psychology of buyers and the basics of marketing, which allows them to come up with a name to attract buyers the most. You can find them in advertising agencies or on freelance exchanges.

To pay for services you will need from 2000 rubles. A more exact price depends on the company and the experience of the selected employee. If he has experience working with well-known brands, then the fee reaches 20 thousand. Naming services on the fl.ru website, popular for freelancers, are estimated at around 15 thousand.

You can create a competition on youdo.com. In most cases, the fee for a name does not exceed 3 thousand. A survey competition on social networks would be an economical option. Additionally, it will attract new clients. However, for a beautiful name you will have to “splurge” on a prize for the winner.

Not only a professional, but also a beginner can get an excellent store name. But it is worth remembering that naming is a labor-intensive and tedious process that requires possession of certain knowledge.

Independent naming

Choosing a name is a creative activity in which you can try your own hands. Entrepreneurs who decide to save money on a store name need to take into account the principles of its creation.

Let us warn you right away that the ideal result will not be achieved in 10 minutes of thought. You shouldn't make rash decisions. A high probability of obtaining an attractive name appears when combining several naming tools.

Brainstorming is a powerful tool

The most effective method is brainstorming. It consists of searching for a name by a group of people, which allows you to consider the issue from different angles. Not all people are able to see and admit their mistakes, especially when they are confident that the invented option is ideal.

On the other hand, others will support an idea that may seem mediocre. The main condition is a serious atmosphere and the desire of those present to help in choosing the best name.

Foreign words

Good names come from foreign words. An example is the sweets “Bonjour”, which is translated from French as “good afternoon”, and the online store “bon prix” as “good price”. There are many similar examples. Beautiful names from foreign words look stylish and intriguing.

After choosing a name, it is better to consult with a person who knows the language from which the concept was borrowed. Sometimes words are used incorrectly or have multiple meanings. It is also important to consider the correctness of sound and the presence of articles.

Merging multiple words

Merging words will help reflect the scope of work. You need to play with words to get an exclusive name. For example, a pet store can be called “Paws” (paw + whiskers). It is clear that the store sells products for those with paws and whiskers.

The names of the tea and coffee shops “Chaikoff” and “Chaikofsky” will be interesting, but no longer original. The last name can also be attributed to the next method.

Use of first and last names

Stores are often called by simple names: “Mashenka”, “Misha’s”, “Victoria”, etc. The owner decides to glorify his own name or his relative. Such names can be rated a three, since it is unattractive. This mediocre option does not allow you to stand out among hundreds of other stores.

You can use your last name or foreign names. The best option would be a surname that reflects the direction in trade - “Medoff”, “Tsvetkoff”. For the basis, they use the leading product and come up with a name based on it. Write down all the options and choose the best one.

If it’s difficult to come up with a beautiful name, then you can immerse yourself in a pleasant environment: turn on pleasant music and think about what your store will give people. The associations that appear are written down on a piece of paper and then selected.

Geography

The names of geographical and natural objects - rivers, countries, areas, etc. sound well. For example, the store of draft beer "Bavaria", children's clothing "Stork", summer clothing "Malibu", hunting goods "Brown Bear".

You can use the characteristics of a country or locality. Almost everywhere there are unofficial names for districts, and some places are legendary. In Donetsk there is a beer store “Dobry Shubin” named after a character from mining folklore. A striking example is local brands in Scotland associated with the Loch Ness monster.

Fairy-tale and literary characters

Fairytale heroes can be an excellent name for specialty stores:

  • "Freken Bock"- hardware store;
  • "Elena the Wise"- bookish;
  • "Mowgli"- children's toys;
  • "Winnie the Pooh"- sweets.

The buyer remembers the good old fairy tales that his mother read before bed. Such names will set you in a good-natured mood.

Popular quotes from films or books, puns and popular expressions based on them have the same effect.

Basic requirements for a store name

You can name the store with any word you like. However, it must meet some requirements:

  • Euphony. Each combination of sounds and words is emotionally charged with meaning. You don't have to be an expert to identify a melodic and pleasant combination. Professionals have more gradations. They know how to express openness, tenderness, masculinity, and accessibility with sound.
  • Memorability. The name should stand out from competitors, and sometimes be provocative.
  • Semantic correspondence. Having remembered the names without an assortment, the buyer will not go to the store a second time.
  • Legality. The name must be available for registration.
  • Visual clarity. Having chosen a name, you need to present it on the billboard. The letters should not be confused - “l” and “m”, “ts” and “sch”.
  • Advertising Perspective. The logo and slogan should be easily matched to the name.

Brevity is called the sister of talent. A sophisticated name that is original but difficult to pronounce will not be the best option for a store name.

To check exclusivity, you can enter a name into the search bar and make sure that competitors are not using it. You should not use the popular prefixes “top” and “vip” - the name will be lost among analogues. It is important that the name evokes desirable and attractive images among buyers. They will not only look into the store, but also recommend it to their friends. Word of mouth will start working.

Poor visual perception of a word that consists of letters that do not extend beyond the line: o, a, s, k, p, t, l, zh. The name must contain letters containing elements falling outside the line: f, d, c, b, r. Marketers believe that the presence of the letter “i” in a word evokes feelings of insignificance or second-classness. Having more than 5 characters makes it difficult to remember.

Clothing store for men and women

When a person is asked about the number of famous brands, he will name 10-15, but will quickly remember only 2-3. The same goes for the stores he visits in his area. It is important that the name is easy and memorable. Of course, a store gains fame not only because of its name, but also because of its promotion methods, brand recognition and the availability of good products.

  • foreign word - “Top Fashion”, “Brand Fashion”, “New Look”, “Fashion house”, “Dresscode”;
  • descriptive names - “Your Style”, “Fashion City”, “Pretty Woman”, “Lady”, “Wardrobe”;
  • geographical name - “Avenue”, “Valencia”;
  • play on words - “JemSvit” (jumper), “Freshion” (fresh - fresh, fashion - fashion);
  • neologisms - “Getwear” (to wear).

For an online store, they use a laconic name with a positive meaning - “4 Seasons”, “Charm”, “Fashionable Thing”, “Carino”, “Lady Mart”.

It must correspond to the price level, space occupied, assortment, age and social status of the target audience.

A successful marketing strategy allows a business with an unfortunate name to achieve success - Harm’s (H&F) from English. "evil", but adding a suffix and an apostrophe changed the situation. Oh, My is a light and beautiful name.

Women's clothing store

For a women's clothing store, you can use the following approaches:

  1. The combination of syllables of the names of the founders is “MarKo”.
  2. Add the prefix off - “Creatiff”, “Bryukoff”.
  3. Shorten the words or use an abbreviation - “TIK” (You And Beauty), “BTB” (Be The Best), “Tata” (Tatiana).
  4. Descriptive name with a positive emphasis - “Elegant”, “Style”, “Fashionista”.
  5. Connect to geography - “Little Paris”.
  6. Play with words - “MaRUSiya” (emphasis on “rus” - Russian production).
  7. Neologisms - “Rassana”, “Friendly”.

To make the name attractive, some errors should be eliminated:

  • Use hackneyed personal names - “Elena”, “Karina”.
  • Use words with difficult pronunciation or unclear meaning - “Minerva” (goddess of wisdom), “Miscellaneous” (mixed from English).
  • Change well-known brands - “Abibas”.
  • Words with double meaning or negative perception - “Teremok” (something childish, not adult), “Debut” (incompetence), “Tsatsa”, “Corrupt soul”.
  • Names that do not correspond to the profile - “Royal” (irrelevant for a store in the basement), “Passage” (this is an indoor gallery between two streets, and not a cramped space in a shopping center).
  • Use banal foreign words - “Violette”.

In addition to an attractive name, you should come up with a creative slogan that will attract customers and motivate them to buy things.

Lingerie store

Lingerie stores often carry women's names ("Margarita", "Anna", "Maria"), flower names ("Orchid", "Lily") or simply beautiful words ("Silhouette", "Caprice"). The listed options do not carry any semantic load - this is what you might call perfume shops, flower shops, and beauty salons. If you still want to use such names, then it is better to supplement them and make them more original - “Night Violet”, “Lily of the Valleys”, “Lady’s Caprice”.

The name should correspond to the style of the interior - “Boudoir” (retro), “Women’s Secret” (classic style in soft colors).

You can play on the name of the material or components of lingerie (“Openwork”, “Lace”, “Pajamas”, “Silk and Velvet”).

Carefully use erotic overtones - “Emmanuelle”, “Empire of Passion”, “Kitty’s Salon”. The titles will attract a male audience, but may scare women away. If the assortment consists of classic items, then the name should not have sexual associations. Women like the names “Vorozheya”, “Cutie”, but “Subtle Matter” or “Transparent Hint” are unlikely to make them regular customers.

The name should be soft and feminine. There is no need to use growling sounds (z, h, s), which make the sign tougher.

Men's clothing store

The name for a men's clothing store should be aimed at the target audience and inspire trust. To test the chosen option, you can interview potential customers. The name should be in harmony with the concept, range, style and price category. A small store called “World of Style” will not be successful. Bad associations are caused by the words “Dude”, “Alphonse”, “Macho”, “Egoist”, “Provocateur”. It is not recommended to use banal names - “Fashion for Men”, “Don Juan”, “Cavalier”, “Appearance”. Successful options include “Hipster”, “El Bravo”, “Casanova”, “Oscar”. Having a franchise greatly simplifies the choice of name: VD one, TOM TAILOR.

Children's clothing store

The name should be aimed at two audience groups: children and their parents. You need to develop a name in several stages:

  • identification of potential buyers;
  • study of competitors;
  • development of several titles;
  • testing the name on buyers;
  • choosing the optimal option.

There should be a capacious and beautiful name that evokes only positive emotions.

Children quickly remember easy and laconic names. If the product is designed for children of all ages, then “Baby” and “Krokha” are irrelevant. The name should be universal - “Superman”. You should not use abbreviations - the public should understand who this store is for.

Research has shown that the processes for choosing clothes or shoes for children of different ages are different:

  1. From 0 to 3 years old, parents make the choice;
  2. from 3 to 7 the child shows a little initiative, he pays attention to the choices of those around him;
  3. from 7 to 12, the child takes an active position and independently chooses the product;
  4. from the age of 12 - a teenager, a developing personality that requires self-expression.

The name of the store for the first category should be designed for parents, to induce in them a feeling of tenderness and love, which requires them to buy the best for their child.

The name for the third group should be child-oriented, emphasizing that he is not small.

The last group is teenagers who know fashion and the cost of many things. They are not attracted by boring names; they strive to express themselves with the help of things. A good name would be "Seven Pockets" (unusual, since trousers have 2-3 pockets).

Perfume shop

A bright and juicy name should attract others and encourage them to visit it. The main target audience consists of female representatives, so the name should emphasize the resulting effect - lightness, freshness, attractiveness. Good options would be “Sweetie”, “Chic”, “Flirty”, “Charm”.

When choosing, it is better not to use banal options, but to come up with an exclusive name. You shouldn’t stop at the examples listed, you need to come up with your own.

You can use compound words:

  • noun with adjective - “Good Fairy”;
  • two adjectives - “The most beautiful”;
  • adjective with verb - “To be beautiful.”

To increase options, they resort to tricks. Write two columns of words on a piece of paper and alternately sort out words from one column with words from the other (“Eliteparfum”, “Aromamarket”).

You can use dictionaries of foreign words, having previously clarified all the meanings of the selected words.

Produse store

The name for a grocery store is less important than for a fashion boutique. Visitors will be attracted by the seller’s reputation and product range.

The sign should be memorable and catchy so that the buyer quickly remembers the name. Creative names evoke a smile and positive emotions:

  • store positioning - “Around the corner”, “Ground floor”, “Near”;
  • adjectives that evoke pleasant associations - “Homemade”, “Delicious”, “Favorite”, “Own”;
  • message about the operating mode - “24 hours a day”, “Always with you”;
  • goods sold - “Fruits and vegetables”, “Butcher shop”, “For tea”;
  • pricing policy - “Economy”, “Budget”, “Social”.

Keep in mind that a name that is too creative can have a negative impact. A store in a residential area should evoke associations of being close and accessible. Larger retail outlets are named based on the quality of the products they sell.

Jewelry shop

The Soviet names “Agate” and “Sapphire” are no longer relevant today. They are interesting to people for whom novelty and originality are not important. Signs indicating specialization - “Gold”, “Jewelry Salon” look banal. The buyer transfers the boring name to the product. The name of the store should be original and arouse interest among passers-by.

The main consumer of the jewelry store is girls over 18 years old. Even if the buyer is a man, he is buying a product for a woman. Regardless of age and status, ladies want to have sophisticated and unusual things.

The name should evoke images of beautiful and sophisticated jewelry, but be easy to remember. The names of the salon with engagement rings and exclusive diamonds must be excellent. Experts suggest using positioning words - “Ounce”, “Gold”, “Carat”.

You can attract customers with the semantic meaning of the name - “Treasure Island”, “Special Day”.

The chosen name should be tested on friends or potential clients. They must describe their associations when pronouncing the future name of the store.

Handmade gifts

The title should emphasize not only the availability of products for different occasions, but also their origin (“Gifts from Simply Maria”). A visual image of the heroine of the telenovela of the same name appears, who is engaged in heavy manual labor.

You can use foreign words: Handmade + present = “Handmade Present” (handmade gift). You can use individual product categories in the name - “Magic Wallet”.

Flower shop

The sign should encourage passersby to look inside. It should evoke a number of pleasant associations: a stylish composition, a luxurious bouquet, elegant packaging. The name should not be associated with perfume or jewelry.

Interesting names can be found in a color directory or specialized encyclopedia. The name of a rare flower will give the store an aura of unusualness and mystery.

Naming experts do not recommend using the words “floral” or “flowers.” The name should not be "butter oil".

Online store name

The name of an online store requires a more careful approach, since the consumer must remember not only the name of the store, but also its address.

Basic rules for an online store:

  1. The name must be one word. Users find it difficult to enter several words and do not know what to use as a separator: a hyphen, an underscore, or write together. It is better to eliminate the error at the initial stage.
  2. The word must have a simple transliteration. Buyers speak different languages. You should not use the letters “ш” and “ж” - they do not have an unambiguous analogue in the Latin alphabet.
  3. Transliteration should be perceived unambiguously. “n” and “h”, “u” and “y”, “s” and “c” are often confused. Not everyone is able to distinguish two “vs” from a “w” or a capital “I” from a slender “l”.
  4. You should not take words with the same spelling, but different meanings when the phonetic sound changes. Errors occur when trying to write words in Latin letters.
  5. It is recommended to use foreign words that are familiar to Russian consumers - sale, market.
  6. Make sure you have a free domain with the appropriate name.

Developing a store name turns from leisure into hard work, requiring knowledge of the basics of marketing and consumer psychology.

Don't rush into choosing a name for your store. The deferred option will turn out to be unprofitable or “golden” after some time. A leisurely and balanced approach will help you choose a beautiful name without the involvement of marketers.

Clothes are something without which we cannot imagine our existence. The times of Adam and Eve are long gone, and today the wardrobes of fashionistas are literally bursting with a huge number of all kinds of T-shirts, skirts, shorts, robes, etc., etc. This list can be continued indefinitely.

Of course, there are different types of clothing. Let's try to understand them. So...

Types of women's clothing

Modern fashion designers do not sleep, but constantly delight us with their new creations. In all the variety of models, it’s easy to get confused. However, we all know the basic types of clothing well.

Dresses

This is what distinguishes any woman from a man. Dresses have many varieties and styles:

  • Evening. Typically, such models are distinguished by deep necklines, open shoulders (or even no sleeves at all) and backs.
  • Cocktail dresses. Quite versatile models. They can be both closed and quite frank, of a strict style or decorated with all kinds of ruffles and draperies.
  • Wedding Dress. No comments here. Elegant clothes for the appropriate celebration.
  • Ethnic (or exotic) dress. Any model in the style of a certain country. For example, a kimono dress that we borrowed from the Japanese. Or everyone's favorite tunic lately.

Knitwear

Among such products are the following:

1. Bolero. Regular short vest. Can be made from either denim or organza. Knitted models are often found.

2. Turtleneck. Narrow knitted sweater that hugs the body. A collar is required, usually turning away. It also has other names - badlon, golf.

3. Jumper. Its feature is a round neckline instead of a collar. This wardrobe item is perfect for both business and romantic styles.

4. Cardigan. Knitted clothing with button closure. Features a deep neckline.

Skirts

The skirt is also the prerogative of women. True, in some countries men borrowed it from us. But the style of men's skirts is completely different. This element of women's clothing is represented by a wide range of models - narrow and wide, mini and year, pleated, wraparound, pencil skirts and a huge variety of styles.

Clothes of our supermen

The types of men's clothing are not nearly as numerous. In general, they say that a suit is a two-piece or a three-piece suit. This statement is only half true. After all, there are also evening dresses - tuxedos and tailcoats. What about sportswear - sweatshirts, jumpers, T-shirts? Another thing is that enterprising women borrowed everything they could from the men's wardrobe. As a result, a unisex style emerged.

I would like to note such an item of men's wardrobe as a blazer. Recently it is often called This is not entirely correct, because the concept of “club wear” is quite broad. But nevertheless, you can wear such an outfit to a club. The main difference between the mentioned clothes is patch pockets and metal buttons. This is a fairly democratic option. It can be worn with both trousers and jeans.

A jacket can also be classified as purely men's clothing. Of course, this is a uniform item, but it is also worn quite often in everyday life. It differs from a regular jacket in the variety of collars. The jacket can have either a turn-down collar or a stand-up collar with a single-breasted blind fastener.

Types of outerwear

Outerwear is represented by practically identical products for both men and women. Usually only the sizes and styles differ. Ours are different. That is why, looking at the product, we immediately understand whether it is a women's model or a men's model.

All outerwear can be divided into the following categories:

  1. Coat. For men, they usually have a straight silhouette. But for women there is real freedom here: fitted models, trapezoidal, semi-fitted, etc.
  2. Down jackets. In other words, Women's models usually have a fur trim on the hood and are distinguished by an abundance of fittings.
  3. Raincoats. Essentially the same coats, only lighter and made of
  4. Jackets. Made from different materials and with different accessories - buttons, buttons, locks, straps. Women's models often have decorative trim.
  5. Windbreakers. Lightweight jackets made of thick fabrics with unquilted lining.

Functional types of clothing

Along with the general division of clothing into types, there is also a classification based on the functional features of the products. Typically, the following types of wardrobe items are distinguished:

  1. Designed to be worn every day. These can be T-shirts, skirts, dresses, shorts, trousers. It is sewn from high-quality, comfortable fabrics and is distinguished by the absence or minimal number of decorative elements. This type includes home and work clothes.
  2. Festive outfits. just to get out of this category. These models are bright, extravagant, decorated with beads, lace, ruffles, bugles, and sequins. In other words, they have more sparkle, more sophistication. But weekend clothes are not always distinguished by an abundance of decorations. Strict, elegant models also look quite elegant.

As you can see, the types of clothing are quite diverse and have many classifications. But it is not possible to describe them all in a short article.

1. Coat

The choice of a coat should be taken seriously, as it usually serves its owner for more than one year. Pay attention to the classic cut coat. Its advantage lies in the perfection of lines, quality of material, and restrained colors.

This coat can be single-breasted or double-breasted. The silhouette is straight or fitted - depending on your body type. Cashmere, wool, and tweed are considered the best materials. Regarding the color scheme, give preference to traditional colors: gray, black, beige, blue, brown.

Avoid excessive decoration that has no functional value. Another caveat is that you should try on a coat over a warm sweater. You need to make sure that the coat is loose enough, does not restrict movement, and is warm and comfortable.

2. Fur coat

A fur coat is an element of the wardrobe, which, in addition to its protective function, serves as an indicator of the high status of its owner. Since ancient times, fur has been considered an attribute of luxury. Therefore, the cost of a fur coat made from natural fur is quite high.

To make the right choice, you need to consider several factors when buying a fur coat.

First, you should check the fur for strength, rub it with your hands, pull it, squeezing it with your fingers. High-quality fur should not fall out, otherwise this indicates a violation of the manufacturing technology.

Secondly, you can check whether the fur is dyed or not. To do this, you need to hold the fur with a piece of light fabric and stretch it slightly, and then see if there are any traces of paint left on the fabric. If yes, you should not purchase such a fur coat.

3. Down jacket

Initially, a down jacket was considered an element of a sports wardrobe. But recently its meaning in the life of modern fashionistas has changed. Now everyone wears down jackets, regardless of age, size, or position in society. After all, a down jacket can be not only warm and comfortable, but also stylish.

There is a common belief that a down jacket makes you look fatter, making your figure more voluminous. But this can be avoided if you take into account the following points: when choosing a down jacket, give preference to a fitted model, with vertical stitching or diagonal quilting, asymmetrical zipper, and contrasting side inserts. These details visually slim and elongate the silhouette.

4. Leather jacket

A leather jacket represents convenience, comfort and relevance. It is available in the wardrobe of any fashionista and is universal, as it can be combined with most other things. From this we can conclude that a leather jacket is an indispensable thing in everyday life.

When choosing such a jacket, you should pay attention to the quality of the leather. The optimal material for the jacket would be calfskin or sheepskin. Make sure that the leather is well stained by rubbing it with a napkin. In addition, such a jacket should be loose enough and not restrict movement. The seams and fittings of the jacket should be as neat as possible.

5. Sheepskin coat

Sheepskin coat is a great alternative to a fur coat. It can be just as warm and luxurious, but at the same time very practical. The sheepskin coat got its name because it is made from tanned sheepskin with the fur inside.

Sheepskin coats can be very diverse in length, color and style. High-quality sheepskin coats are sewn from large pieces. There should be no scratches, stains or traces of glue on the sheepskin coat. The direction of the fur inside the sheepskin coat should be from bottom to top.

You should also check the sheepskin coat for water resistance by dropping a little water on its surface. The water should drain without leaving a trace. This will mean that the dressing of the sheepskin coat was done correctly.

6. Trench

The trench coat was once an element of military uniform. Today it is an indispensable item in the wardrobe of every fashionista. The standard for the perfect trench coat is the classic trench coat from the British brand Burberry. To sew it, a special rubberized fabric called gabardine was used. But you can also find a worthy alternative to it in other brands.

Today, the trench coat has a wide range of fabrics and cuts. It doesn’t have to be gabardine; a trench coat can also be made from lighter cotton-blend fabrics. The classic trench coat has a sandy beige color, but you can choose any other color that suits you - dark blue, black, gray, khaki.

Regarding the length of the trench coat: those who value comfort above all in their clothes can pay attention to shortened models; lovers of elegant classics usually choose a trench coat below the knees. Mandatory details: turn-down collar, shoulder straps, raglan and detachable yoke.

7. Summer coat

Relatively recently, a summer coat has entered the fashion list. This wardrobe item is ideal for a cool summer evening. Unlike the universal trench coat, the summer coat is more sophisticated, elegant, and refined.

The classic summer coat is mid-thigh length. The materials used are linen, cotton, jacquard, brocade, and lace. The model with three-quarter sleeves is very popular. The silhouette of a summer coat can be straight, or cocoon-shaped, or fitted, reminiscent of an elegant dress, or A-line, in the style of the 60s.

A summer coat can be either with or without a collar - with a round neckline. Usually a summer coat is worn without buttoning it - this is a great way to create an additional vertical that can visually elongate the silhouette.

A cape is a sleeveless cape coat with a loose fit and sloping shoulder line. The length of the cape can be different: from mid-thigh to floor-length models. The main materials used when sewing a cape: wool, drape, tweed, knitwear, cashmere.

There are many different styles of capes: with pockets, collar, hood, belt, etc. The only thing you should focus on when choosing a cape is that it should be wide enough and not restrict movement.

A cape cannot be called a universal item; due to the peculiarities of its cut, it can create excess volume in the upper part of the figure. Therefore, it is recommended for wearing by tall and slender girls.

9. Parka

The parka is an elongated jacket, which is fastened at the front with a zipper hidden under the placket; it also has a drawstring cord at the waist, a hood and patch pockets. Previously, parkas were made to be insulated and lined with fur on the inside. Now this is not necessary; there are lightweight versions of the parka.

The parka is usually made from practical, non-staining materials; the traditional colors for parkas are khaki, marsh, olive, gray, black, brown.

Despite all the variety of textures, styles and colors of parkas, give preference to universal models with a straight cut in a sporty or military style. This parka can be successfully combined with other things from your wardrobe.

The cardigan is universal, it can be combined with anything: with dresses and skirts, as well as with trousers. Nowadays, elongated models of cardigans are especially relevant. They can be dense, coarse textured knit, with buttons.
