Our harsh Russian climate is not conducive to fashionable explorations. But what girl doesn’t want to look stylish even in the harsh winter? The desire for beauty is in our blood. And so you have to get out. And try to beat even such a thing as... a down jacket.

Although, why slander him? At the moment, there are many interesting models that you want to have in your wardrobe. Fortunately, designers don’t forget about us freezing creatures. And they strive to please.

Beige down jacket. Definitely beautiful outerwear. One could be dishonest and say that all sorts of fur trims, rhinestones and original belts make the down jacket more feminine. We are girls, we love details and delicate work. But! This is far from true. Down jackets-dresses and all sorts of variations on this theme will cause a culture shock for anyone who has the slightest understanding of design. And it will make you look like someone who is far from the world of fashion. Designers tirelessly tell us that a down jacket is a rough thing. And it doesn’t need cute little decorative elements. Maximum fur. And then, not always. Agree, the pink bow on Dr Martens boots is the apogee of absurdity. Why are ruffles and frills on a down jacket perceived as normal by many of our Russian girls? A mystery, nothing less.

Fashion models

Beige long down jackets are at the peak of popularity at the moment. Length to mid-calf. Or even a little lower. It is very difficult to find a well-tailored model. But if it works out, a beige down jacket will become that very thing that you don’t want to take off.

Pay attention to the clasp. At the moment, the trend is the oblique zipper. And it was thanks to her that we were able to tailor a rather original stand-up collar. And it will protect from the cold. And you don’t need to select accessories in the form of a scarf or snood.

In general, there is a trend towards voluminous collars without fur. The hood also disappeared into oblivion. On the one hand, this is a minus. Throwing it over your head in cold weather will no longer work. On the other hand, there is a tangible plus. Because a beige down jacket coat without a hood is a wardrobe element with which you can easily combine classic trousers without looking ridiculous. Convenient, right?

Perhaps the most versatile model is a short beige down jacket just above mid-thigh. Without a hood and with a minimum amount of decoration in the form of zippers, buckles, chains, etc. A real must-have. Because it will help you create countless images.

Beige oversize women's down jacket. The item is definitely comfortable and trendy. Thanks to it, you can wear your favorite batwing-cut sweaters, voluminous sweatshirts under your outerwear and generally not feel cold under any circumstances. It has been at the peak of popularity for several years now and, apparently, is in no hurry to go into oblivion.

Who suits a beige down jacket?

To each and every one. Regardless of age, hair color and weight. Everyone can choose a model for themselves. It is important to choose the right accessories and shoes. They are the ones who will set the tone for the whole image.

There are many shades of beige. At the moment, gray-beige down jackets are the most popular. Choose the shade that best suits your color type.

What to wear with a beige down jacket

First, let's decide on shoes. Brown shoes of all shades are just what the doctor ordered. Your favorite Timberlands will fit perfectly. Designers advise us to pay more attention to rough boots this season. Why not? Especially if you take into account long down jackets.

The oversize model and boots are generally an inseparable tandem.

A beige long down jacket coupled with high boots looks tolerable if due care is taken when selecting a model. But he doesn’t tolerate oversized boots at all.

It’s very easy to choose a hat for a beige down jacket. Beige is a basic color. Therefore, there can be many variations. Let's look at the most fashionable ones.

The leading color is Marsala. A beige down jacket combined with a Marsala hat surprisingly refreshes blue-eyed blondes. By the way, rough boots of the same shade will complete your look.

A pistachio-colored hat looks extremely good with a beige women's down jacket. But those whose skin has a greenish or olive undertone should beware of this. A hat and a down jacket will look great together, but you won’t fit in anymore. Because you will look somewhat sickly and tortured by life.

If you want something more classic - black and gray. The hats are just perfect colors. It's actually quite boring.

Take a closer look at the soft pink color. A new, not yet hackneyed technique. Equally good for both blondes and brunettes.

Jeans. Our favorite monochrome black jeans look pretty good with a down jacket. And yet somehow rude. Try replacing them with gray ones. The image will take on a completely different look.

Dark blue jeans. Also a good option. Especially in our realities. Agree, light jeans, but in our Russian winters... Unforgivably impractical.

Blue jeans with a beige oversized down jacket and yellow Timberlands - the look is ready for a fine winter day. You can choose a cozy knitted hat with a pompom.

Pay attention to khaki knitted sweaters. They are very good in combination with a beige down jacket.

With the onset of winter, outerwear plays an important role in a woman's wardrobe. And no less important, harmoniously selected accessories - a hat, scarf and gloves. Nowadays it is very fashionable to wear a down jacket, which adds style to a winter look, so in this article we will talk about how to choose the right hat for a down coat or jacket of a particular style and tone.

General rules for choosing a hat for a down jacket for women

Dressing fashionably is an art, so we will tell you how to choose the right pair for a down jacket.

When buying a hat to go with a down coat, you need to remember a few rules.

You need to choose a headdress for your face type:

  • for a narrow face, it is better to choose a headdress that will make it wide;
  • for a round type, a model that will lengthen it is suitable;
  • for the oval type, you can make any choice among hats;
  • for a square type, choose a headdress that will round the face, for example, a snood scarf;
  • For a heart-shaped face, you should opt for a beanie cap.

You must follow the fashion advice of stylists:

  • Take into account your skin color (choose a hat several shades lighter than your skin type) and hair (for blondes it is better to buy a beige, peach or light brown hat, and for brunettes - white, turquoise, pink).
  • Make a choice among those tones that suit you.

The style of the down jacket plays an important role; they are different, but mostly have a sporty style. An excellent choice would be a fur hat, knitted or knitted; these hats were originally designed to be worn with down jackets.

Fur headdress or knitted hat with a fur pompom, choose if the down coat is of medium length or has a fur collar. Stylists also offer another option - a hat with earflaps, which warms well in winter.

If you have a short down jacket choose a knitted hat in large or fine knitting or knitted. It is recommended to choose calm shades with logos or inscriptions, for example, a sock hat would be a good choice.

For a long down coat A headdress made of knitted natural fur or a thin knitted cap without a lot of jewelry is perfect. But the main thing is that there is no hair peeking out from under it.

Sports outerwear goes harmoniously with original knitted hats, which are decorated with pompoms, ears or ethnic patterns.

Classic down coat It will look very good with a snood scarf, which will add femininity and elegance to the image and will also serve as a scarf.

The choice of knitted, knitted and fur hats is varied both in shape and color. You can also choose fur headphones or unusual headdresses with the faces of animals, with ears, or in a bright, unusual tone. These accessories are perfect for teenage girls. But the main thing is that this accessory does not spoil your image.

IMPORTANT!

Classic berets and hats of various styles are absolutely not worn under down jackets.

Color is a fundamental factor in choosing a pair

When choosing a pair for a down jacket, the tone is of great importance. If your outerwear is bright in color, then choose a headdress in soothing colors. But no one forbids experimenting with color schemes; the main thing is to maintain a sense of taste in creating an image.

What color hat goes with a green down jacket?

For a green down coat, you can choose a pair of white, black or green tones. When choosing a green headdress, choose a shade that will differ from the tone of your outerwear.

What color hat to match with a blue down jacket

If you purchased blue outerwear, then when choosing a headdress, pay attention to tones that will be lighter than the jacket. Therefore, the best choice would be a blue hat, but the following tones will also be combined with blue: white, black, red, gray.

Hat color for black down jacket

When choosing a pair for a black down jacket, you can either experiment with bright colors or calmer ones. It goes well with a black tone: white, black, red, gray, pink.

Hat under a red down jacket

If a red down jacket has white fur, then it is better to choose a headdress in white or gray tones. A black hat goes perfectly under a red down jacket with red fur. They also buy a pair to go with outerwear of the same tone, then the look should be diluted with a scarf or gloves of a different color so as not to become a solid red spot.

Which hat to wear with a burgundy down jacket

The burgundy color looks very noble, so a pair can only be matched with the following tones: black, burgundy, gray, white. All other tones will look tasteless against the background of a burgundy down coat.

Which hat goes with a gray down jacket?

Gray headdresses in both light and dark shades harmonize with gray outerwear; you can also purchase a white hat.

In order not to make a mistake in choosing a winter headdress for a down coat or jacket, you need to remember a few rules:

  • Any colored jacket will go well with a pair of black or white;
  • choose what suits you personally based on your face type, hair color and skin tone;
  • follow fashion trends, look through photos of fashion magazines and try to listen to them;
  • do not overdo it with decorations: sequins, beads.

ATTENTION!

When choosing outerwear and headwear of the same color, observe their combination in tone and saturation.

Remember that a hat serves not only to protect your head from wind and cold. This is also an important attribute of every fashionista, so its choice should be approached with all responsibility.

Once upon a time, down jackets were ordinary, very practical and comfortable workwear for male polar explorers. Light, warm jackets unexpectedly and quickly became incredibly popular. Now everyone wears them with pleasure - from children just out of swaddling clothes to people who have reached old age.

Representatives of the fair sex also highly value down jackets. These clothes have become so stylish and fashionable that not a single lady will refuse to purchase a high-quality down jacket. The most interesting, original models of down jackets reach to the knee. This length makes any woman’s figure slim, graceful, does not interfere with her movements, and can completely warm her up in the most terrible cold weather.

To look good in such clothes, you need to know some rules developed by fashion designers. These settings work flawlessly, allowing any woman to create an impeccable image of an attractive person who follows fashion trends.

A knee-length down jacket is the choice of rational women who do not want to sacrifice their beauty. Purchasing down clothing of the maximum length is often associated with the risk of becoming sedentary, even bulky, and this must be taken into account.

A knee-length down jacket is the best option; a practical, comfortable coat can be worn with many types of clothes. Under such a down jacket you can wear tight knitted dresses and skirts. The only recommendation is that the length of the dress and skirt should be shorter than the length of the outerwear. Skinny trousers, jeans, flared jeans along with a down jacket that reaches to the knee also look very impressive.

The choice of down jacket color is very important. If you want to look your best, give preference to the following colors:

  • Black;
  • Gray (steel);
  • Dark blue;
  • Dark green;
  • Dark brown.

A good option is beige down jackets, but acidic colors on snow-white winter days look immodest, flashy and cheap.

What shoes to wear with a knee-length down jacket?

Choosing shoes to match such a down jacket is an art. The most suitable option for tall, slender women would be super-fashionable suede and leather over the knee boots. They can have high or low heels. The color of the shoes matters; it should not conflict with the color of the down jacket. Black, brown, beige boots look best. It would be correct to first purchase a down jacket, and only then choose shoes that match it in color.

Just high leather boots and ugg boots look great with such outerwear, but this statement is indisputable only in relation to tall young ladies. Women of average height should try closed high-heeled ankle boots. Such shoes will be the best option for creating an elegant look, since visually they will not make your legs shorter than they are.

What hat to wear with a knee-length down jacket?

A hat is an important detail; it is what gives a woman special beauty, or hopelessly spoils her face. There are few suitable models, but these are the hats you should take a closer look at:

  1. Knitted hat (thin plain knitwear) with pom-poms;

  2. A hat made of natural fur, the color of which completely matches the color of the down jacket;

  3. Hat with ear flaps;

When choosing a hat, you should not stop only at the models listed above. In some cases, the decision regarding a headdress can be unexpected and very successful.

You need to choose the right hat correctly - by trying it on together with a down jacket, otherwise the purchase may disappoint you

Original hats made of soft felt, or exquisite hats can make the image of a young lady in a down jacket very sophisticated.

What to wear with a knee-length down jacket dress?

The down jacket dress is an ultra-fashionable model that all women like. In such outerwear, many of them look very attractive, as it makes the figure slim and seductive. It’s not for nothing that these down jackets are called dresses; they are quite thin and perfectly fit the upper part of the figure.

Since the down jacket dress looks unusual and elegant, you need to select clothing items and shoes to go with it with special care so as not to burden the look

The models with circle skirts are especially impressive; they seem so light, airy and completely unsuitable for winter. But this is not at all true; in such outerwear you can safely face even the most severe frosts. Slender beauties are especially elegant when they wear dark leggings or thick tights under a down jacket dress. Fitted down jackets look good with classic trousers, Bermuda shorts, and skinny jeans.

As for shoes, they look very good with down jackets:

  • Over the knee boots are made of soft leather and suede, reaching up to the knee, which is trendy this season.
  • High boots with a stable, medium-height heel.
  • Ankle boots.

At the same time, it is important that the shoes are not overloaded with unnecessary decor. A modest chain in the heel area, or discreet appliqués and leather buttons on the side of the boot are allowed.

What to wear with a knee-length hooded down jacket?

Many models of such down jackets are equipped with a very convenient detail - a hood. There are women who are prejudiced against hoods. They believe that only young ladies can wear such clothes. But it is the presence of a hood that gives the down jacket additional advantages.

Clothes with a removable hood are simply ideal in many ways - in warm, windless weather this part can be unfastened; in terrible cold and wind it gives the owner additional protection. Clothing with an unfastened hood looks completely different, and this is only to the advantage of the owner; she can diversify her winter look, complementing it, for example, with a voluminous knitted scarf.

A down jacket with a hood is a good opportunity to make your image more multifaceted and vibrant

It’s easy to choose matching clothes and shoes for this down jacket. If we are talking about a young girl, bright duds and ugg boots will make her look even more modern and mobile. Older ladies will prefer high boots made of soft leather, and this will be a very right decision. A sweater made of mohair, thick country wool, dark jeans, a short knitted dress, or a trendy sweater dress - all this can be safely worn under a down jacket with a hood.

What to wear with a shiny knee-length down jacket?

Without a doubt, a shiny down jacket is an option only for one age category, young girls. What can you combine this fashionable item with? The choice is large, because everything suits young creatures - sweater dresses, knitted skirts, pleated skirts, skinny black trousers.

A shiny, medium-length down jacket is a great opportunity for young girls to create an unusual look.

Here you should not be afraid of bright or even acidic colors of a down jacket; a fresh young face will look especially beautiful in such clothes. If you choose outerwear in pastel shades, it can be combined with regular classic trousers.

What to wear with a white knee-length down jacket?

Shoes for a white down jacket are selected based on contrast; ideally, they should only be black. The color for the cap and gloves can be slightly pinkish, rich mustard.

A white down jacket will require a special, careful selection of clothing details by color from the owner

The handbag and scarf are steel-colored. This is an ideal combination, but it all depends on personal preference.

What to wear with a black knee-length down jacket?

There are no such strict restrictions on color and choosing clothing details is not so difficult. To create a strict, restrained image, use classic colors - black, beige, white.

Black color for outerwear - the ability to create a multifaceted look

Bright, rich colors are also an option; in combination with black they look especially attractive.

What to wear with a red knee-length down jacket?

The bright red color for a down jacket this season is considered trendy, but it’s something you shouldn’t experiment with. Details of clothing should be restrained in color.

A red down jacket will require special attention to the selection of clothing details

A white, gray, black hat made of fine knitwear or bulky country yarn is an ideal option. Neat hats made of natural fur in muted colors also deserve your attention.

Today, down jackets are so popular that they are made not only by respected and well-known brands - Adidas, Moncler, Nike, Benetton - but also by many fashion houses, including Burberry, Yve Saint Laurent.

As in the case with, all down jackets can be divided into three categories: long(they are also called puffer jackets), middle length(or shortened) and short.

In the photo - a white long quilted coat from Burda:

Short ones are called puffer jackets:

What to wear with a down jacket, and what stylish winter looks to create with it?

Considering that they belong to the casual style of clothing, they, of course, are most often worn with jeans, boots (uggs, boots, ankle boots or) and knitted hats. However, the parka can be worn with clothes, if not in a formal business style, then at least with clothes in the style. This means that in a down jacket in combination with such clothes, you can go to a theater premiere or to a stylish party.

But everything is in order.

So, what to wear with a black down jacket?

Pair with skinny jeans, boots and a scarf:

Girls and young women can pair a black down jacket with a short skirt and heeled ankle boots. Don’t forget to wear thick, opaque tights: it will not only be warm, but also very beautiful:

A blue quilted coat can also be worn with stiletto ankle boots (see photo):

Dark green (protective color)

A parka of color or dark green is most often worn with trousers or jeans. To keep the look from being boring, add accessories: for example, tie a leopard print scarf around your neck and take a large bag:

In addition to trousers, you can combine a parka with a knitted dress. Choosing a hat for a down jacket, it is best to opt for a sports cap. Instead of a hat, you can also put a hood on your head. If, of course, there is one.

What to combine with a brown or beige down jacket?

In the photo below - promised smart casual look. Look how wonderfully this simple and at the same time stylish down jacket goes with a smart blouse and a gray jacket with decorative details! Of course, it’s still better not to wear a parka with an evening dress, but if you dress as etiquette requires - in a formal or semi-formal style, choose a formal down jacket in brown tones and feel free to combine it with casual business clothes. By the way, a down jacket can also be worn with clothes in this style - the image will be no less elegant.

It is suitable exclusively for active holidays and weekends.

In the last post we discussed how a down jacket becomes a work of design art due to architectural forms. However, both a sporty down jacket and a dressy one are the two wardrobe poles of the “down jacket evolution”, between which there is a large group of everyday down jackets. For myself, I called this large (and, perhaps, the most relevant for most of us in everyday life) group minimalist down jackets, and in the comments to the last post they were given an excellent name - “urban padded coat” - that’s how they are sometimes called on the Internet - shops). So, let's talk about this: what is a city down jacket and what to wear it with so that it is not just functional, but also beautiful.

The task is actually more complicated than combining an architectural down jacket with a pleated skirt, because the devil, as always, is in the details: a step to the right, a step to the left - and now you get a sports down jacket with suit trousers, the “auntie in the clinic” model. The point is also that the sporty, utilitarian function of a down jacket sits in the subcortex - if we put on a down jacket, then it is to be comfortable and warm (a coat or fur coat is another matter), so the combinations are automatically lined up utilitarian - not about beauty. However, you can still make a city down jacket an element of a stylish wardrobe if you follow a few principles.

How to choose a city down jacket?

The first and most important quality of a “city” down jacket: to be universal and go with everything, it should be as simple as possible , “smooth”, without decoration, which immediately leads to sport and functionality. Without emphasized contrasts lightning, without pronounced comfortable pockets with zipper and button at the same time, without rubber bands, without stripes, without protective strips and additional fasteners. Ideally, without a hood, or with a hood of the simplest form.

Elements like those in the picture below are better avoid, if you are looking for a versatile urban down jacket:

I’m not ready to say that down jackets with such finishing have no right to be purchased, and below there will be good examples, including those with patch pockets and stripes, but the sum of these details should be as small as possible: each of them complicates compatibility.

The simpler the better. The simplest, most boring and bare. Blank canvas. "Interesting" is in the form, not in the decoration. Better long than short.

Where to look for this?

For those who are looking for a budget down jacket, I highly recommend checking out Aliexpress - there are now suddenly a lot of down jackets in the required format.

For example, I found these:

1. Blue down jacket. 2. Pink down jacket from here.

How to wear a city down jacket,

to avoid the standard set of “down jacket-skinny jeans-boots-knitted hat”?

I have identified several strategies for myself. They are all about one thing: in order to get a stylish combination with an urban down jacket, which is essentially eclectic, you need to highlight the “general line”, discard everything unnecessary (color, styles, textures) and create a design from simple elements. As usual, this does not negate the fact that there are people who can beautifully combine a down jacket with anything without any stupid rules, but in 99.9% of cases these are not you and me, but the heroes of the photographs of Sartorialist and his colleagues.

And we will do what is easier. So, three strategies for using an urban down jacket.

1. Sports. We admit that a down jacket is originally about sports, so variations on this theme (sweatpants with fleece, sneakers, sweatshirts) - even in an urban environment - will look harmonious. It is important here that this option is good specifically for a “city” down jacket - otherwise there is a risk of looking like a tourist who did not change clothes after returning from a hike. In fact, this is not about sports in its purest form - rather about urban “sport chic”. Therefore, this combination suggests more negligence than sports practicality: bare ankles (if you are), a large knit cap carelessly pulled over your curls, perhaps the down jacket itself is unbuttoned. This is not a practical combination for long walks or standing at a bus stop, it is a variation on the theme of urban comfort: jump into the car to go to a shopping center with a heated parking lot; drinking coffee in a cafe overlooking the park and so on.

2. Monochrome. Since a down jacket, due to its functionality, is a thing of a very narrow style, when we combine a bright urban down jacket, a sports cap, casual blue jeans and also classic black boots in one look, we get an explosive mix - both in style and color. If you subtract color from this equation, the problem will be easier to solve. Items in the same color scheme, even different styles, can be combined into a calm and harmonious winter look.

The colors can be any - this works with both light and dark colors.

It is not necessary to maintain total black or any other total - an “inner core”, a vertical line in one color (top+bottom, tights/pants, shoes) will be enough.

3. Urban. This strategy is diametrically opposed to the first.

With it, we forget that the down jacket has some kind of sporting past and treat it as if it were an ordinary classic coat. We combine a down jacket with dresses, shoes, clutches, shirts and other “elegant” wardrobe items. Of course, we take into account color, shape and silhouette. It is important that there should be nothing more sporty here: a knitted hat and a backpack with a bright edging can ruin everything completely. And no, this story is not about jeans, despite the first photo in the post. If you put all the elements of the image together correctly, you get just the right dose of eclecticism.
