In this article you will learn:

Anakin Skywalker- Jedi of the human race. Anakin's original story is perhaps the most complete, as he appears in most of the Star Wars films and cartoons.

Christensen as Anakin

Birth and childhood

The hero's mother was Shmi Skywalker from the planet Tatooine. He didn’t know his father, but there are rumors that he was a Sith who could control midi-chlorians. Since this has not been confirmed, it is believed that the boy was conceived artificially.

He was born in 42 BBY on the desert planet Tatooine, but Anakin himself assumed that he only grew up on the arid planet, where he arrived at the age of about three years.

Ani grew up as a blue-eyed, kind-hearted, hard-working boy who dreamed of one day becoming a star pilot. But his dreams were not destined to come true, since the Skywalkers were property, slaves of Gardulla the Hutt.

After several years of working for Gardulla, he lost his family in a race to a Toydarian, a parts dealer named Watto, and the Skywalkers found a new owner.

At the age of eight, Anakin first learned about the Sith. An old Republican pilot told him about the great wars of the past, who believed that in those wars not all the Sith died and only one managed to survive.

The hero was a very gifted child. He was very successful in mathematics and technology. At such a young age, Eni could put together anything. So he assembled his own car and robot , having finished work around the age of nine.

Hidden threat

In the 1999 film The Phantom Menace, we first meet a boy played by actor Jake Lloyd.

In 32 BBY, when the hero was only 10 years old, his life changed dramatically. Knowledge of technology and good nature allowed Ani to meet space travelers: a Jedi, a Gungan, R2-D2 and a girl, whom he mistook for an “angel.”

Anakin invited his new friends to his home to wait out the sandstorm, where he learned their true purpose for arriving on Tatooine - to escape from the Trade Federation to the Senate on Coruscant in order to stop the invasion of Naboo. The travelers' hyperdrive was broken and Eni volunteered to help, revealing a desire to participate in the Bunta Yves Classic race in order to win enough money to buy it. The mother could not refuse her son’s desire to help.

Anakin, Shmi and Amidala

Qui-Gon Jinn saw Skywalker's potential, his lightning-fast reactions, and upon checking, he was surprised to learn that his midichlarian level was higher than that of himself. Anakin, in turn, was very eager to become a Jedi in order to help everyone, which gave Qui-Gon the idea to free the boy.

Before the race, the Genie made a bet with the owner of the Skywalkers. But subject to Anakin's victory, Watto agreed to release only the boy, leaving his mother with him.

The hero won this race. Now he was free. Anakin was faced with a choice: live on Tatooine with his mother or go with the Jinn and become a Jedi. Skywalker left Tatooine, promising that he would return to free his mother.

Jake Lloyd as little Anakin

So Anakin went on his first journey.

With Qui-Gon and Queen Amidala (the girl pretended to be her own servant), to whom Ani became very attached, he arrived on Coruscant, where he appeared before the High Council. The Council refused to train the boy, although Qui-Gon was convinced that Anakin was the Chosen One (the One who would bring balance to the Force).

The boy was experiencing emotions left over from life as a slave, so the masters believed that he would not be able to achieve the state of peace that a true Jedi needs.

Qui-Gon, Anakin, Obi-Wan and R2-D2

Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear breeds anger; Anger breeds hatred; Hatred is the key to suffering. I feel strong fear in you.

Not knowing where to go now, Anakin tagged along with Jinn, with whom he flew to Naboo, with a mission to liberate the planet from occupation by the Trade Federation.

By chance, Anakin took a direct part in the Battle of Naboo in space. He single-handedly managed to destroy an entire orbital station that controlled droids on the planet, ending the invasion.

Although Skywalker emerged victorious, sad news awaited him on earth. In a battle with, Kawai-Gon died. The dying Jinn made Obi-Wan Kenobi, his student, promise to train the boy and the Council accepted that Anakin would learn the Force.

After the victory on Naboo, the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic himself, promised to monitor Skywalker's progress.

Obi-Wan's Apprentice

Eni’s innate abilities instantly placed him above his peers, which began to feed his pride. He often showed off, spoke out against the opinions of his elders, and did not show much respect for Obi-Wan, whom he looked down on somewhat.

Obi-Wan became more than just a teacher to Anakin, he was like a father to him. Secretly, Skywalker believed that his strength was many times greater than that of his teacher and Kenobi was holding him back. This fact made their relationship confusing and contradictory.

When Anakin didn’t get along with Kenobi, he went to his “friend” Palpatine, who stroked the Jedi’s pride with praise.

In 28 BBY, Anakin created his first lightsaber in the caves of Ilum..

Attack of the Clones

“Attack of the Clones” is the second film in which we see Anakin. Its events take place 10 years after the end of the plot of the first part. In this film, the grown-up Anakin is played by actor Hayden Christensen.

Skywalker and Kenobi

In 22 BBY, Padmé Amidala, who was now a senator from the Chommell sector, was assassinated. Anakin, who had not seen Padmé for ten years, was appointed her personal protector. For ten years, Skywalker did not stop thinking about Amidala, and now that he was with her, his attraction grew into love.

On Naboo, where Padmé was hiding with her protector, she agreed to him, kissing him for the first time. Amidala was more prudent than Skywalker because she thought about the consequences. Anakin, on the other hand, was focused on feelings, breaking the tradition of the Order to be attached only to the Force.

For a long time, Anakin suffered from nightmares in which he saw his mother. A new nightmare he saw on Naboo forced him to violate his orders to protect Amidala, taking her with him to Tatooine to find Shmi. On Tatooine, the hero learned that his mother was freed by the farmer Cligg Lars, who married her. At the Lars farm, Ani was told that Shmi had been kidnapped by Tusken raiders, so the hero immediately rushed to find her.

Using his instincts, Anakin found Shmi, but it was already too late. His mother died in his arms. This death caused such anger that the Jedi massacred the entire raider tribe, including women and children. Even Yoda felt Skywalker's pain and anger.

With the death of his mother, the Jedi had a terrible desire to gain such power with which he could save people from death.

Padmé: « There are things that cannot be fixed, you are not omnipotent, Anakin.»

Anakin: « There should be! One day I will... I will become the most powerful Jedi! I promise you. I will learn to make sure people don't die!»

Arriving on Tatooine, Anakin learned that his teacher had been captured by the Confederacy on Geonosis. Skywalker's goal was to protect Amidala, but she persuaded the Jedi to go to rescue Kenobi. Ani left Tatooine taking his droid C-3PO with him.

Arriving on Geonosis, the couple was captured and exhibited, along with the previously captured Obi-Wan, in the gladiator arena. Faced with the threat of death, Anakin and Padmé confessed their love to each other. The trio was saved from certain death by the arrival of the Jedi and the clone army.

Leaving Amidala, Ani and his teacher began to pursue the leader of the Confederation and a former Jedi (note: Qui-Gon Jinn's teacher). Skywalker lost his arm in the battle with him and almost died if Yoda didn’t come to the rescue.

Dooku cuts off Anakin's hand

Anakin was implanted with a mechanical arm and while he was in the Temple for treatment, Yoda and Kenobi tried to convince Amidala to end her relationship with him. Padmé lied and she and Skywalker soon married. The secret wedding ceremony took place in Varikino on Naboo. The only witnesses were the droids C-3PO and R2-D2.

Wedding Anakin and Amidala Skywalker and Amidala

Clone War

This war made Anakin a legend. He became renowned as a top fighter pilot, earning the rare title of Thane.

During the war, Skywalker was not concerned about his own life, as he was worried about the health of his teacher, Palpatine, the soldiers who acted under his leadership, and even the astro droid R2-D2. The Jedi broke more and more rules. He increasingly feared for Padmé's life.

Anakin vs Ventress

On a mission on the planet Naboo, Skywalker met Asajj Ventress, a Dark Jedi who became a fierce enemy of both Anakin and Kenobi.

During the war, Obi-Wan took in Padawan Halaged Ventor for training, with whom Anakin became very close friends.

The Clone War was a terrible event in the life of a Jedi. During the battles on the planet Jabiim, Skywalker received a message about the alleged death of his teacher. This made the hero more reckless. He rushed into the thick of things along with clones, padawans and Jedi. When Palpatine wanted to evacuate Anakin from the planet, he agreed, soon learning that everyone he fought with had died.

For his heroic actions in the war, Anakin was declared a Jedi Knight. Skywalker sent the Padawan's cut off braid to his wife as a sign of love.

Arriving on Coruscant, Anakin wanted to meet his wife, but fell into the trap of Asajj Ventress. The Dark Jedi promised to kill Amidala, which once again sent Skywalker into a rage. In this duel, the hero received his famous scar above his right eye. He emerged victorious, but Ventress managed to survive.

Anakin continued to participate in battles for the Republic. While fighting on the planet Christophis, his first student was assigned to the Jedi. After the victory on Christophis, Anakin, although reluctantly, accepted the Padawan.

Anakin and Ahsoka

Together with Ahsoka, Ani completed quite a few missions. Together, they saved Jabba's son, participated in the mission to liberate the planet Kyros, saved the Jedi Master Plo Koon,

Although Anakin and Ahsoka became friends, Tano left the Jedi.

In the Battle of Coruscant, when the Confederacy invaded, the Republic managed to win, but Chancellor Palpatine was captured.

Revenge of the Sith

Skywalker and Kenobi went to save the chancellor. After finding Palpatine, the Jedi engaged Count Dooku in battle. The Count was still strong, so he quickly knocked out Kenobi, crossing swords with Anakin. War-hardened Skywalker suddenly won, cutting off both of the Sith's hands.

After Palpatine ordered Dooku to be killed, the Jedi beheaded him, taking another step towards darkness. When the Chancellor tried to persuade him to leave Kenobi, Anakin refused.

Returning to Coruscant, the hero learned the news that his wife was pregnant. After this, Anakin increasingly began to be tormented by visions where he saw the death of Amidala. Because of them, the Jedi wanted to gain access to the forbidden holocrons of the masters of the past. This was facilitated by Palpatine, who appointed Skywalker as his representative on the Jedi Council. This meant that Eni was supposed to become a master, but his rank was still not raised.

The final point in the distrust of the Council was when the Jedi asked Anakin to keep an eye on his friend Palpatine.

The Jedi turned to Yoda for help. He spoke of his prophetic visions of someone close to him dying, but did not reveal his identity. Yoda advised him to learn to let go of everything he was afraid of losing. Skywalker was not satisfied with this answer.

Despite the Council's warnings, Anakin continued to spend time with Palpatine, who began to develop a dark side within him. The Chancellor told the story of Darth Plagueis (his teacher) who had the power over death. This story made Anakin think that the dark side could save Padme's life.

When Palpatine revealed his identity as Darth Sidious, Lord of the Sith, offering Skywalker the path of the dark side to save his beloved, Anakin refused, reporting everything.

Windu, along with Agen Kolar, Saesee Tiin and Kit Fisto, were supposed to arrest the Sith when Anakin was supposed to remain in the Temple. But, naturally, he did not listen. Tormented by thoughts of Amidala's death, Skywalker followed the Jedi. Arriving at the chancellor, the hero discovered Windu, who was about to kill Palpatine. The fear of losing Padme overpowered Anakin when he cut off the master's hand and allowed Palpatine to win.

It was already too late to repent; there was no turning back. Palpatine explained this as the purpose of a Jedi and suggested joining the dark side. The Sith Lord promised to reveal the secret of power over death, so Skywalker agreed to become Darth Sidious's student in order to save Amidala's life.

So, Anakin Skywalker “died”, becoming legendary.

« Now stand up...Darth Vader!”

Padmé Amidala Naberrie - born in 46 before the Battle of Yavin on the planet Naboo. Daughter of Ruvi and Jobal Naberrie, sister of Sola Naberrie.

From the ages of 12 to 20, all citizens of Naboo were required to give their duty to public service. Elected Queen at the age of 14, Padme had already achieved what some of her fellow citizens were unable to achieve throughout their lives. She grew up in a small mountain village, where from birth she was prepared for a higher destiny. Her parents instilled in their children high moral principles such as self-sacrifice and caring for the socially weak. When Padme was still very young, her family moved to Theed.

Padme studied in the best schools on the planet, spending her holidays in the Lake District of the planet Naboo. By the age of 7, she was already a member of the Refugee Movement, an organization in which her father had long been a member. She took part in one of the Movement’s missions to the planet Shadda-Bi-Boran, where it was planned to carry out an operation to resettle all the inhabitants of the planet somewhere else, since in the very near future the star of this system was supposed to explode. Unfortunately, many, many of the refugees, including a very gifted child named Na-ki-tula, were unable to adapt to life outside their home planet and died. Padme realized that politicians could do more. Some time later, Padmé received the position of Apprenticeship Legislator, where she met a young man named Palo. An innocent relationship followed, but their paths diverged when Palo became an artist and Padmé continued her path as a politician.

She never forgot her past and heritage, even after she reached the top, Amidala maintained the village tradition of painting her nails (she kept them completely white), a small but visible signature of her family affiliation.

Amidala's rise was rapid, she became a Lawgiver at eleven. It was during this time that she first met Silja Chesson, her mentor.

She continued to serve in the Senate as an advisor while receiving the ceremonial palace status of "Princess of Theed". Having begun to serve at court, in accordance with tradition, Princess Padme began to bear the so-called “state name” - Amidala. But in times of danger, she became Padmé Naberrie again. She became a magnet for those who did not agree with the rule of King Veruna.
King Veruna occupied the Throne of the planet Naboo for 13 years, but revealed ties to shady politicians in the outside world undermined the people's trust in his rule. As a result, he was forced to voluntarily abdicate the Throne. Amidala and one of the planet's governors, Sio Bibble, were nominated as candidates for the election of a new monarch. Amidala began a relationship with Ian Lago, the young son of Chief Chancellor Veruna. Both families were against the union, but it all ended in a break on the initiative of Amidala, when Veruna abandoned the throne. Amidala, bit by bit gathering supporters of the reforms around her, traveled all over the planet with election speeches and eventually won a convincing victory over her rival. Beside himself with grief, Yang left Naboo on the day of Amidala's coronation, and they never met again.

Although she was extraordinarily talented, Padmé was not the youngest queen of Naboo ever elected.
As Queen Amidala, she appeared regal and stern, but Padmé was tenacious and compassionate. The new head of the Royal Security Service, Captain Panaka, insisted that Amidala undergo training in self-defense and weapons use. And to ensure even more reliable security for the queen, he introduced a time-tested cunning method: using the queen’s doubles as bodyguards and at the same time bait for attackers. They were young girls of the same age and strikingly similar to her. These were Amidala's five maids: Eritae, Sabé, Yaine, Rabe and Sasha, then, when she became a Senator, they were Dorme, Corde, Verse, Motie and Elle. They became her closest friends and underwent special training so that in moments of danger they could successfully replace their mistress.
While Queen Amidala was the ruler of Naboo, she had a large staff of advisors and assistants who handled daily affairs. Sio Byblos was the governor of Naboo. Rick Olie was a Royal Yacht pilot and leader of Bravo Squadron.
Less than five months of Amidala's reign had passed before the Trade Federation established a blockade of the planet Naboo. Protesting the Galactic Senate's decision to tax users of the galaxy's trade routes, Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray declared a blockade of Amidala's homeworld. Naboo, with few resources of its own, relied on imports, and the blockade served as a perfect example of the Republic's confidence in trade. Despite the fact that Amidala could not understand the true reasons why this greedy conglomerate state chose her planet as its victim, she nevertheless tried to resolve the conflict without resorting to violence.
The Viceroy secretly followed the orders of Darth Sidious, did not resort to diplomacy and ordered troops to kill the Republic ambassadors who had been secretly sent by Supreme Chancellor Valorum. Unfortunately for Gunray, these envoys were Jedi, and shortly after their rescue, Gunray ordered that all communications systems on Naboo be cut off and an invasion force deployed. Amidala resisted the war on her planet, but the Federation captured more protected planets. When the Federation took Theed, Amidala was captured in the palace, but in the guise of a handmaiden; Sabé's double took on the appearance of the Queen for this time. During the Naboo Federation Trade Siege, a treacherous Neimoidian tried to force Amidala to sign an agreement that would legitimize the invasion. Acting on instructions, Sabé refused to sign the agreement, and she and her retinue were sentenced to a prisoner of war camp. Along the way, Amidala and her retinue, consisting of the false Amidala, her handmaiden, Governor Sio Bibble and Captain Panaka, were freed by Jedi envoys: Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi, and a Gungan named Jar Jar Binks.
Leaving her people behind with a heavy heart, Amidala, through Sabé, accepted the Jedi's offer to escort her to Coruscant to make her plea to the Senate with the help of Naboo's representative, Senator Palpatine, leaving Bibble and two handmaidens behind on Naboo. The royal ship broke through the blockade and avoided complete destruction thanks to the droid R2-D2, whom Amidala rewarded for this. However, the cruiser suffered significant damage, and they were forced to land on the remote planet Tatooine. Disguised as a maid, Padmé accompanied Genie, Binks, and R2-D2 to the small town of Mos Espa. It was there that she met Anakin Skywalker's slave.

Anakin offered to take part in the Bunta-Ive race, winning enough money to purchase new parts to fly to Coruscant. Although she liked Anakin, Padmé had doubts about Genie's decision to place the fate of her planet in the hands of a young boy. She reconsidered her views when Anakin won.
Upon arriving on Coruscant, Amidala once again played the role of queen. While preparing her to speak before the Senate, Senator Palpatine, her planet's representative, warned her of the real forces controlling the Republic, which was proven when Amidala failed to secure immediate aid for her people. The Senate refused to authorize active action. In this dramatic moment, the Queen demonstrated the true extent of her fighting spirit. If those who have power and strength in their hands do not bother to help her, she herself will achieve the liberation of her enslaved people - such was her unshakable decision. On Coruscant, Amidala learned of the ineffectiveness of galactic politics by observing how the Trade Federation, through political maneuvering, stymied her request. Following Senator Palpatine's advice, Amidala submitted a Vote of No Confidence against Supreme Chancellor Valorum. After this, Amidala decided to return to Naboo. Palpatine himself was soon nominated for the post of Chancellor and ultimately won the election.
On the way to Naboo, Amidala became interested in Binks, whom Qui-Gon Jinn had brought, and planned to team up with the native Gungans, with whom Naboo had had somewhat tense relations in the past. Finding no Gungans in the city, Binks led them to a secret location. Appearing before their leader Boss Nass, Amidala tried to convince him to unite in order to drive the Trade Federation off the planet. Seeing that this attempt failed, Padmé decided to reveal her identity as a sign of trust. Nass agreed, and the two warring cultures quickly put an end to the dispute so they could concentrate on the bigger issues: liberating Naboo. Padmé presented a formulated plan that consisted of a mobile force infiltrating the royal palace and capturing the Viceroy while the Gungan Grand Army fought on the ground, distracting the droid army. Courage and endurance under enemy fire, when the Queen fought shoulder to shoulder with the Jedi Knights Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, as well as the very young Anakin Skywalker, fought against heavily armed enemies, led to the defeat of the forces of Viceroy Nute Gunray of Neimoidia.
In the battle, Qui-Gon Jinn was killed by Darth Maul, who was sent to help the Neimoidians on Naboo. The cowardly Neimoidian suffered defeats, the army capitulated and freedom returned to Naboo. On the jubilant streets of Theed, during the victory celebrations completely covered with confetti and multi-colored streamers, Amidala, of course, was the most important guest. Supreme Chancellor Palpatine and the Jedi Council were also present. After the Parade, Padmé was invited to a meeting with Master Yoda, who asked her to keep the Sith's appearance a secret. The people, led by their Chancellor Palpatine, were finally free, and it seemed to everyone that a bright future awaited the planet Naboo.
In 24 BC, Amidala's second term as Queen came to an end. Although some Naboo offered to amend the constitution to allow her to serve a third term, she refused, saying that "popular government is not democracy." After this, Amidala passed the throne to her chosen successor, Queen Jamillia.
Although Amidala planned to retire to start her own family, such as her sister Sola already had, her successor, Queen Jamilia, asked Padmé to accept the position of Senator, and she was appointed Naboo's representative in the Galactic Senate, becoming the Galactic Senator for the 36th Regional Space Force. Systems.
Due to the overwhelming support on Naboo, Amidala was given all the privileges normally only granted to an elected monarch, including the distinctive chrome metal plating on all of her star cruisers. Even as she changed careers, she maintained her intricate tailoring and ever-changing wardrobe.
Padmé actively used doubles from among her intimates, and the constantly changing incredible costumes in combination with numerous accessories and thick white makeup with lined eyes smoothed out the external difference between her and the doubles, and also to some extent shocked the audience-listeners, also distracting from close attention looking at. All this served her well - when an attempt was made on her life upon arrival on the capital planet, Corde, a girl from her retinue, died in her place.
Amidala was appointed to the Senate the same year as Senator Rush Clovis. They became quite close, however, Amidala abruptly ended their relationship, feeling that it would be unprofessional to continue it. Kloves took this very hard, which led to them avoiding all contact.
Although she preferred to remain on Naboo, when in the capital, Padmé lived in a small penthouse apartment in the Senate Complex. Although the interior was modest in size and furnishings compared to other Senatorial apartments, the apartment's large veranda boasted a private landing pad, as well as a large number of luxurious Naboo artifacts.
When she was not performing duties on the capital planet, she spent time with her family in her own home in the city of Theed. Senator Amidala was worried about the problems associated with the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Dooku, Count Sereno, and his divisive followers openly accused the Republic authorities of corruption, and Padmé, while sympathetic to their arguments, was unwilling to sacrifice a system of government that had stood the test of time for thousands of generations. Soon, she was one of the leaders of the faction opposing the creation of an army to suppress the growing Separatist movement. She believed that violence would only breed violence in return. Padmé Amidala was also appointed by the Supreme Chancellor to the Loyalist Committee, a small group of Senators who would act as advisors to the Chancellor during the Separatist Crisis. She was also part of the team of Republic diplomats who attempted to negotiate peace with the Separatists, and suspected Count Dooku, the Separatist leader, of being behind the terrorist attacks that were disrupting the negotiations.
Padme then returned to Coruscant to cast her vote against the adoption of the Act of Creation of the Army, whose task was to defend against the actions of the Separatists. She felt that this meant nothing more or less than a declaration of war. But as soon as Padmé Amidala arrived on the planet, her cruiser was blown up by the Claudite mercenary Zam Wessel, killing her bodyguard-double Corde. An hour later, Amidala appeared in the Senate and disrupted the announcement of her death and openly criticized her enemies, as well as the supporters of the Martial Act, which she stubbornly opposed. After a brief conference with Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, members of the Committee of the Faithful, and numerous members of the Jedi Council, it was decided to place Amidala under Jedi protection. Amidala reunited with Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, whom she had not seen for almost ten years.
The second assassination attempt by the Claudite bounty hunter Zam Wessell only showed how much danger Amidala was in.
After a second attempt on her life, she returned to Naboo under the protection of the Jedi Order's Padawan Anakin Skywalker while Kenobi investigated the attacks on her. With the vote on the Army Creation Act fast approaching, an irritated Amidala was required by government order from Chancellor Palpatine to return to Naboo. Disguised as a refugee from the Thousand Moons system, Amidala and Skywalker traveled with great caution on a freighter to Naboo. During the trip, they discussed Anakin's mother's sacrifice by allowing him to leave to train as a Jedi, in hopes of making him feel better and not knowing that she would do the same for her children, Padmé said, "That's what every parent wants." for your child to know that he has been given a chance for a better life.”
Maintaining the illusion that the Senator was still in the capital were Captain Typho and the maid Dorme, acting as bait. After meeting Queen Jamillia, as well as having lunch with Padmé's family, she and Anakin took refuge in the Lake District of Varikino, where Padmé's family had a mansion on the edge of the lake, where the two began to fall in love with each other. It was a forbidden relationship, a love that had no right to exist.
She met Anakin a long time ago, when the boy was only 9 years old and he felt an ardent feeling of childhood love for her. Now Anakin had grown up and become a man, and Padme did not know how to behave in the face of such obvious and ardent interest in herself on the part of Skywalker. In moments of quiet solitude in the beautiful landscapes of the Lake District of Naboo, Anakin and Padmé rekindle the tender friendship held deep in their hearts, which was interrupted ten years ago, and turns into love.
According to the principles of the Jedi Code, Anakin could not enter into a romantic relationship, and Padmé had to focus on her career. Despite their strong feelings, it was Padmé who remained realistic, refusing Anakin's attempt to reach her own heart. But since now the need to keep a distance between herself and Anakin, as was the case when she was queen, was no longer necessary, Padmé could not resist and fell head over heels in love.
Anakin's love for Padme wasn't the only thing that bothered him. He suffered from terrible nightmares that his mother was in danger. When he could bear it no longer, Anakin returned to Tatooine, accompanied by Padmé, to find Shmi Skywalker. On Tatooine, they learn that while Anakin was away, Shmi Skywalker married a farmer named Cliegg Lars. Lars told Anakin the sad news that his wife had been kidnapped by the Tuskens, and that after another search that turned out to be unsuccessful, there was no hope. Frustration and reluctance to give up forced Skywalker to go in search of her, leaving Padmé in the care of the Lars family. While she was there, she met Anakin's half-brother Owen Lars and his girlfriend Beru Whitesun.

Soon Anakin found his dying mother, and in a fit of anger attacked the Tuskens who were torturing her. When he returned to Padmé, he confessed to his actions, and he repented with shame and despair for what he had done. Although she was shocked, she understood his sadness and his guilt, trying to calm him down by telling him that his act was only Human. Padme saw the wounded, sobbing young man, and she allowed compassion to guide her heart, she calmed him. During Shmi's funeral, R2-D2 gave Padmé a message he had received from Obi-Wan Kenobi. After saying goodbye to the Lars family, they looked at the message and discovered that Obi-Wan had been captured by droidekas on the planet Geonosis. The message also revealed that Count Dooku was involved in the attempted assassination of Amidala; and that the Count apparently did this so that Padmé's longtime enemy - Nute Gunray - Viceroy of the Trade Federation - would officially join the Separatist Movement. According to Mace Windu's orders, Anakin was to remain with the Senator. Padmé decided that if Anakin was to protect her, he would have to follow her to Geonosis to rescue Master Obi-Wan.
Padmé hoped to use her diplomatic skills to negotiate with the Separatists. But upon arriving on Geonosis, Skywalker and Amidala were pursued into the droid factory, where Padmé would no doubt have been killed if R2-D2 had not intervened. She and Anakin were captured by the Geonosians and brought before Poggle the Lesser, put on trial for espionage, and then sentenced to execution. Facing the overwhelming evidence of her death, in the Petranaki arena, Padmé finally admitted that she had feelings for Anakin and told him so, confirming it with a kiss. They were placed in the execution arena next to Obi-Wan and three deadly animals were unleashed on them, much to the delight of the Geonosian spectators. Although the ferocious nexu looked at her and lashed her tail. Padme remained alive and disappointed her would-be executioners. She was able to unfasten the handcuffs and climbed to the top of the pole. However, she was wounded - the nexu left bloody cuts on the girl's back with its claws, but she was still able to fight and knock out the beast and join Anakin in an attempt to escape from the arena. The spectacle was over with the arrival of Jedi reinforcements, and then the first battle in the history of the Clone Wars began. Despite her initial objections to the Republic military, Padmé nevertheless fought alongside the newly created clones against the Separatist droids, proving more useful in combat than one would expect from a political figure. After the Jedi and Padmé were separated, she fell from the transport ship, but managed to gather a team of clones and catch up with the Jedi, arriving at the hangar just after the battle, helping the wounded Anakin to his feet. Dooku managed to escape. The battle, however, was won. But victory or not, this battle marked the beginning of the Clone Wars.
Immediately after the Battle of Geonosis, Amidala was transported to the Jedi Temple along with the wounded Kenobi and Skywalker. Before the healers at the Temple could treat her wounds, she stormed into the Hall of Healers, demanding to see Anakin. Chief Healer Vokara Chi urged her to let the healers heal her, or leave the Temple. Before she could press further, a wounded Kenobi left the room and asked her to leave. In the evening, returning to the apartment on Coruscant, I was surprised to see a guest - Kenobi. He was sent by Master Yoda to demand an explanation about his relationship with Skywalker, and to stay away from the Order's affairs. Amidala lied, saying she agreed, and asked if she could end the relationship herself, allowing Skywalker to accompany her to Naboo.
After the Battle of Geonosis, Anakin accompanied Padmé Amidala to Naboo. There, in the shady coolness of the lake, in Varikino, the same place where their love was born, these two were married in a ceremony led by Maxiron Agolerga, a minister of the Brotherhood of Knowledge. The only witnesses were C-3PO and R2-D2.
The only evidence of their wedding was an official scroll containing their names, which Agolerga placed in the Brotherhood's Archives. However, Amidala's former chief of security, Captain Panaka, found out about the wedding. And he told Palpatine about this.
Amidala continued to serve the Senate wholeheartedly, although she was often distracted by her secret husband's growing career. Anakin was becoming a war hero known throughout the Republic, and while the citizens admired his deeds, she was deeply concerned for his safety. The few moments they could spend together were too short. The war was focused on the Outer Rim, not Coruscant at all, and Padmé barely saw Anakin. With the outbreak of war, her words about diplomacy and restraint were drowned out by the thunder of gunfire. She became the target of assassins many times, forcing her to remain in the peaceful capital. She rarely saw her secret husband, Anakin Skywalker, who was constantly on the front lines, advancing with Obi-Wan Kenobi's clone troopers. Amidala maintained a secret relationship with her husband, and although she was worried about his actions, she also feared for his safety.
For four months, Amidala had been traveling with Jedi Master Yoda aboard her yacht Nubian when the ancient Jedi sensed a disturbance in the Force coming from the planet Ilum. Despite Captain Typho's protests, she accompanied Yoda and assisted in the rescue of Jedi Luminara Unduli and her Padawan Barriss Offee after fighting against three chameleon droids, with some assistance from R2 and C-3PO.
During the Clone Wars, Senator Amidala became a source of diplomacy in the crumbling Republic. One example of this was during the Siege of the Outer Territories, where she and Captain Typho traveled to the planet Bri'al to convince the local population to join the Republic. But it turned out that it would have failed if it had not been for the unfortunate C-3PO, who was clumsy and accidentally literally crushed an entire contingent of false clones who tried to kill the Senator and President of the planet, Vuul, then Bri'al would not have entered the Clone Wars.
Believing that she could not simply sit back and let others defend the Freedom of the Republic, Amidala, along with Sheltai Ritrak, proved that Senator Bezz Drexx was a Separatist sympathizer.
During the Clone Wars, Amidala was disliked by many, who believed that she was responsible for starting the war by illegally coming to Geonosis.
In 20 years before the Battle of Yavin, Amidala, along with Skywalker, Obi-Wan, and another Jedi, Siri Tachi, traveled to the planet Jenian, where there was a Seperatist codebreaker invented by Talesan Fry, whom Siri and Obi-Wan had met ten years earlier. Talesan established a profitable business on Jenian, a world that remained neutral during the war. After Talesan was convinced to give the device to the Republic, they were attacked by the bounty hunter Magas.
Talesan accompanied the Jedi and Amidala to Azhur, where the Republic was attacked by Separatist forces. Siri and Amidala took a starfighter to fly after Magas while Obi-Wan, Skywalker, and Talesan fought off the attack led by Magas. After Madas was caught up, Amidala was left to fly the ship on her own, Siri jumping onto Magas' fighter. In the end, Padmé and the Jedi were victorious, but Siri Tachi was mortally wounded and died.
A few months later, on Coruscant, Padmé enjoyed a brief reunion with her husband in the depths of the city planet. Skywalker sensed someone following him and assumed that he wanted to attack him. He pushed her into a dark alley and turned on his sword before he realized who was in front of him. They kissed, but next to passers-by and Amidala ducked back. An angry Skywalker accused her of trying to hide their love. She explained that even on the lower, dark levels she would love him, to which he noted that the dark color suited her. They kissed again, but were interrupted by the screams of S-3PO, who was looking for the mistress. When Skywalker noticed that the droid had changed, Amidala said that she replaced the casing with gold. Anakin was recalled by Obi-Wan Kenobi. It was the night Anakin became a Knight of the Jedi Order. Padmé soon received his cut Padawan braid, placing it next to the pendant Anakin had made for her earlier. She sent R2-D2 with a recording of her giving the astromech to Skywalker.
The war continued, and Amidala became a member of the Security Committee, working closely with Alderaanian Senator Bail Organa. When Coruscant was attacked by terrorists and her friend Kenobi was seriously injured, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine took the senators by airspeeder to the sites of the attacks to show them the destruction in the first place and to encourage them to encourage the Committee to increase the number of security patrols on Republic planets. Secondly. Such emotions strengthened the bond between Amidala and Organa, and when the Alderaanian received a message from the secret Friends of the Republic network regarding the Jedi Order's Sith attack, he relayed the information to Amidala, who relayed it to Kenobi. Although Organa insisted that something must be done to protect the Jedi, Kenobi ignored his ideas, giving the senator information on how to contact him and returning to the Temple. When Organa received a second message containing detailed information on how to reach the Sith planet Zigula step by step, he and Kenobi set out on a mission to find the danger lurking there. Organa and Kenobi left hating each other, after which Grand Master Yoda visited Amidala in her quarters, sensing a powerful signal in the Force, and asked for help. Explaining that the Darkness' presence on Zigula was too strong for any Jedi to withstand, Yoda asked Amidala to pick them up herself, a task which the Senator immediately accepted. She went with Captain Korbel on her yacht that evening and safely rescued Organa and Kenobi, and all the Sith present on the planet were destroyed. In 19 years before the Battle of Yavin, Padmé was on Coruscant when General Grievous and the Seperatist army attacked the capital to kidnap Chancellor Palpatine. Although already pregnant, the Senator still showed what she was capable of in combat, helping lead the evacuation of the Senatorial complex. Later, with the help of Jedi Council members Shaak Ti and Stass Ollie, Padmé and Senators Bail Organa and Mon Mothma were transported to the Complex's bomb shelter. Along the way, the three Senators were forced into combat against droid starfighters, and Padmé again proved to be very effective with the blaster. When Palpatine was rescued by Anakin, Obi-Wan and R2D2 from General Grievous, and the gunship crashed upon landing on Coruscant, Anakin met with Padme in the shadow of the columns in the Senate of the Republic building, Padme had stunning news for Anakin - he was soon to become a father. . She knew that once everything was revealed, the Queen would not allow her to be a Senator, and her husband would be expelled from the Order. Skywalker argued that the child was a miracle, not a problem. Amidala soon began to think about returning to Naboo and planned to raise her child there.
The years of war changed the Republic. To effectively fight the Separatists on multiple fronts, Chancellor Palpatine issued an edict appointing governors who wielded great power and reported only to his office, taking away the last of the Senate's ability to influence the war. The transfer of power was welcomed by many, especially corrupt politicians. A small group of Senators grew increasingly fearful of Palpatine's actions. Senators Bail Organa, Mon Mothma and others spoke of drastic alternatives in secret meetings. Padmé was one of these secretive idealists, along with Senators Fang Zar, Giddean Danu, Chi Equai, Terr Tanil and Banno Vreema. They swore to keep their discussions absolutely secret, even from their closest partners. Padme agreed, even though she was afraid Anakin would sense her duplicity and possibly misinterpret her. Although it was too early to talk about action against Palpatine, the plan was carefully laid out and had parameters that had nothing to do with an emergency rebellion, Padmé approved a diplomatic solution within the bounds of the law. She even asked Anakin to use his relationship with Palpatine to demand a peaceful solution to the war, but he took offense to this. He wanted such overtures to remain in the political circles to which they belonged. Her doubts about the system bothered Anakin. In his opinion, she began to speak like a Separatist.
Padmé began collecting signatures for the Delegation of Two Thousand, a group of disillusioned Senators formally critical of Palpatine's rule, which would form the basis of the future Alliance to Restore the Republic. Despite being one of the masterminds behind the delegation, her attempt to recruit the Jedi to cooperate failed as her colleagues felt it would be too dangerous. She introduced the Delegation to Palpatine, who ignored them. Palpatine carefully planted seeds of doubt about Padmé's intentions in Anakin's mind, while he continued to exploit Skywalker's fears of her death. Anakin had terrible nightmares about Padme dying during childbirth. Given his prophetic dreams that foretold the death of his mother, this vision greatly troubled Anakin. He couldn't lose Padmé, and he would do anything to keep her with him. The gateway to dark knowledge that could unnaturally preserve life beckoned to Anakin - it was the power that could be achieved by connecting him and Darth Sidious, the Dark Lord of the Sith. Padmé, like the rest of the Republic, was unaware that Chancellor Palpatine was in fact a Sith Lord. He lured Anakin to the dark side, and Skywalker knelt before him, becoming Darth Vader, his apprentice. As Vader, Anakin led the cleansing of the Jedi Temple, and traveled to Mustafar to kill the Separatist leadership, effectively ending the Clone Wars.
Padmé Amidala was with her entourage in the Senate during a special session in which Chancellor Palpatine presented "evidence" of the Jedi Rebellion against the Senate, which was in reality an attempt to arrest Palpatine for his Sith affiliation. By presenting himself as a heroic survivor of the attack, Palpatine managed to convince the Senate that the Republic needed protection from this "evil" and he could offer it. The hopes of the resistance in the Senate, both Padmé and her colleagues from the Delegation of Two Thousand, were dashed when Palpatine declared himself Emperor, to the general jubilation and dismay of Padmé and Bail Organa, who was with her. Padme convinced Bail to oppose the declaration, confident that the time had not yet come. Indeed, she was right, as the future showed. Padmé, warned by her husband to stay away from her "friends in the Senate", knowing full well that she would no longer be the voice of the Resistance Movement, asked Organa to continue her work without her knowledge. Being under surveillance by both Anakin and Imperial Intelligence, Padmé knew that any involvement by her would jeopardize Organa's efforts and his life. Knowing this, she told Organa, “Vote for Palpatine. Vote for the Empire. Let Mon Mothma vote for him too. Be a good obedient Senator. Mind your manners and keep your heads down. And keep silence and secrecy, doing all those things that we cannot talk about. I shouldn't know all these things. Promise me, Bail."
Regardless of Padme's bright feelings for Anakin Skywalker and devotion to the Galactic Republic, it was she who played an important role in Skywalker's fall to the dark side and the formation of the Empire. Ironically, Padme herself helped destroy the beloved Republic to which she dedicated her life. She was deceived by Palpatine and blinded by her love for Anakin, still not believing that Skywalker had changed.
It was Obi-Wan who told Padme the truth. He visited Padmé as her friend and Anakin's former teacher. He told her about the hologram that Kenobi had seen, indicating that it was Anakin who attacked the Jedi Temple and about his defection to the Sith. Padmé refused to believe such claims, at least outwardly, and did not tell Kenobi where Anakin was to ensure her husband's safety. It was then that Kenobi discovered her true relationship with Anakin, and realizing her intentions, left. Padmé was stunned. Unable to understand the horrific reality, she flew to Mustafar to make sure of Anakin. Unbeknownst to her, Obi-Wan Kenobi had snuck aboard her ship.
Everything was as Obi-Wan said. Padme couldn't talk to Anakin. Shortly after the destruction of the Separatist leaders, Padmé met with Anakin, tearfully saying that he was tormenting her heart and trying to convince him to turn to the Light Side. In his altered perception, he did all this to make a better Galaxy for their union, to change a corrupt Republic into a just Empire for their children. Deluded by the power, Anakin even promised that he could overthrow the Emperor and make the galaxy the way he and Padmé wanted. Padme was stunned by the change in Anakin and said that she could not go down the path he had chosen. When her angry husband saw Obi-Wan coming from her starship, he came to the worst conclusion. Anakin had seen the most stinging of a long line of betrayals - now his wife had brought his former mentor to Mustafar to kill him. Anakin raised his hand and caught Padme in a telekinetic choke. Padme began to choke and the life began to leave her. Anakin released the hold as he collided with Obi-Wan and Padmé fell. While Kenobi and Skywalker fought in the Mustafar control center, C-3PO and R2-D2 carefully carried her aboard her starship.
Padmé never found out what happened to Anakin. She had never seen the damage caused by Kenobi's blade or Mustafar's lava. After Obi-Wan defeated Anakin in a laser sword duel, the Jedi Master took Padmé to the medical center on the asteroid Polis Massa, where Yoda and Bail Organa were waiting. Despite limited medical supplies aboard her ship, and full medical care at the medical center on Polis Massa, her vitality continued to deplete. There, a team of doctors tried to save Padmé, but they found that she was dying, having "lost the will to live." In a strange, unfamiliar room, just like in Anakin's nightmares, she gave birth to twins - Luke and Leia Skywalker. Before she died, she told Obi-Wan that there was still good in Anakin. In 19 BC, at the age of twenty-seven, Padmé died, leaving Luke and Leia with a legacy and hope for the future. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and Bail Organa swore to keep the children to secrecy.
The procession with the coffin of Padmé Amidala stretched through the streets of Theed. In her hands she held a necklace given by a little boy, Anakin, shortly after leaving Tatooine. Padmé Amidala, former Queen and Senator of Naboo, was buried in Theed. Following Amidala's coffin, a funeral procession followed through the streets of Theed, consisting of members of her family, Queen Apalaina, the Royal Advisory Council, Boss Nass, Representative Jar Jar Binks and her handmaidens, who acted as doubles. The japor wood pendant that Skywalker had given her in 32 before the Battle of Yavin lay in her hands. Thousands lined the streets of Theed to pay tribute to the remarkable woman who liberated their planet from occupation, united its people, and fought for democracy. Oddly enough, one of Palpatine’s first decisions after the formation of the Empire was to declare a public holiday a day of mourning for the “murdered” Amidala. Her old friend, Senator Celia Shesau tried to get an open investigation into Amidala's death, but it was dismissed by Palpatine as a "security matter".
Padme's death would haunt Vader for the rest of his life. Even though he was a Sith Lord, he was never able to free himself from the emotional torment caused by the death of his wife, he knew that he was responsible for her death.

Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker

The main character, who is probably known to anyone who can theoretically read this article, is Darth Vader, the Sith Lord and the watchdog of the supreme villain of the Empire.

His enormous significance in the world of Star Wars is determined primarily by the fact that he played a key role both in the first episodes of the epic and in subsequent ones. In his childhood and adolescence, before turning to the dark side, his name was Anakin Skywalker, and great hopes were placed on him: the boy was considered the chosen one, capable of restoring the balance of power and destroying the Sith. Despite his low origins, Anakin managed to become one of the strongest Jedi and achieve great influence both in the Order and in politics.

However, the Dark Lord of the Sith, Chancellor Palpatine, managed to play on his feelings for his beloved, and tricked him into switching to the dark side. Where Anakin, or rather Vader, achieved even more - he became the commander-in-chief of the troops and the second man in the Empire after the Emperor himself.

Darth Skywalker took part in the main battles of the epic. He fought twice with his Jedi master Obi Wan Kenobi, with the Sith Lord Count Dooku and with his own son Luke Skywalker. It was he who played a key role in the formation of the Empire, and then he destroyed it.

Featured Quote:"I am your father!"

Master Yoda

A seemingly tiny green creature, but in fact the Grand Master of the Jedi Order. Yoda trained the most powerful knights in the saga, including Luke Skywalker, Dooku, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Kit Fisto and Mace Windu. And he himself was the strongest and wisest Jedi of his time. He fought Count Dooku, his past student, and Darth Sidious, the dark lord of the Sith. Without Yoda's wisdom, the Empire would not have been defeated.

And also, without it, we wouldn’t have learned to speak by rearranging words in a funny way in a sentence.

Featured Quote: “Ready, then? What do you know about that? He taught the Jedi for eight hundred years. I will decide for myself who to take for training.”

Palpatine/Darth Sidious

The most insidious character in the Star Wars saga is the Dark Lord of the Sith. He was a senator for a long time, was friends with the main characters and successfully pretended to be a friend of the Republic, which did not stop him from weaving vile intrigues against his own « friends » . It was he who managed to transfer Anakin Skywalker to the dark side, it was he who managed to destroy the Republic, and it was he who became the victim of his own atrocities. Killed (?) by his student - Darth Vader.

Featured Quote: “We stand on the threshold of a new world. For security and stability, the Republic will be transformed into the first Galactic Empire, a society of security and reliability that will exist for ten thousand years. An empire that will be governed by this majestic assembly and a sovereign ruler elected for life.”

Padme Amidala

Queen of the planet Naboo, senator of the Galactic Senate, wife of Anakin Skywalker, mother of Luke and Princess Leia. Despite her seemingly minor role, she influenced many events in the film. If the Jedi had not saved the queen, they would never have met the unusual slave boy from Tatooine, who later became Darth Vader; If Anakin had not fallen in love with Padme, he would not have fallen to the dark side; If Padme had not given birth to two talented children - Luke and Leia - the Empire would not have been defeated!

Featured Quote: “Obi-Wan... There's still good in him... I know. It’s in him..."

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Teacher of Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker. It was Obi-Wan who, in the first battle with Anakin, cut off both his legs and an arm and burned him with lava. After this battle, Darth Vader was forced to put on a mask and a life support suit. Years later, Obi-Wan Kenobi, in his second battle with Darth Vader, for some reason stopped fighting, raised his sword, and as a result was defeated by his former student.

Featured Quote: “You were the chosen one! They predicted that you would destroy the Sith, not join them! You will restore the balance of the Force, and not plunge it into darkness!”

Luke Skywalker

Son of Anakin Skywalker and Padmé. A key character in the war with the Empire, a student of Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi. With the help of nobility and kindness, he managed to convince his father, Darth Vader, to once again turn to the light side and become a Jedi. He was equally good with the sword and the word, so he became famous as a talented warrior, a good speaker and a loyal friend.

Featured Quote: "I am a Jedi, just like my father."

Han Solo

A Corellian of high birth, who, due to his internal qualities, could not serve the Empire and became a smuggler. Adventurous, arrogant, but unconditionally loyal to his friends, he helped Luke throughout the war and played an important role in the victory over the Empire.

The most charismatic character in the saga, the husband of Luke Skywalker's sister, Princess Leia. Chewbacca's best friend, whom he rescued from slavery. Pilot and owner « ]]> Millennium Falcon]]> » .

Featured Quote: "You like me because I'm a scoundrel."

Princess Leia (Leia Organa Solo)

Daughter of Anakin and Padme. The youngest senator on the Galactic Council. She secretly supported the rebels fighting against the Empire, for which she became its enemy and was captured. As the story progresses, she, Han Solo and Luke Skywalker begin a love triangle. While Luke is her twin brother. However, they didn’t know about it then. Leia eventually married Han Solo.

Featured Quote:"Vader's death may have been heroic, but ten minutes of repentance cannot erase years of atrocities."

Chewbacca

Wookiee, Han Solo's best friend. A talented mechanic and pilot, he helped Luke Skywalker and his friends during the war with the Empire.

Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi

While rewatching George Lucas' Star Wars movie saga (finally, in order), I was delighted by the costumes of Padma Amidala (played by the beautiful Natalie Portman).
As part of this post, I want to talk a little about the history of the creation of these costumes and, of course, give you the opportunity to just admire them :)

Padme appears in the first three (and according to the years of filming, the last) episodes of Star Wars (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999), Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005) and is a key character: it was she who influenced the main character Anakin, and later gave birth to two twins who became the main characters of the original trilogy.

Padmé first appears in the episode "The Phantom Menace" at the age of 14 as the queen of the planet Naboo. After becoming queen, Padmé took the throne name Amidala, which, like the name Padmé itself, comes from Sanskrit, where it is associated with the lotus.
According to palace rules, she is required to wear incredibly complex outfits, hairstyles and ritual makeup. Clothes and makeup make it possible to hide the queen's true face, so during dangerous events or trips, the queen's place is taken by one of the maids, most often Sabé (as a senator, Padmé's double is Corday). (she was played by Keira Knightley) Trisha Biggar supervised the work on the costumes. The work was unprecedented. The artists began working three years before the first filming. Biggar flew from England every three months to Lucas's Skywalker Ranch for a couple of weeks and discussed all the intricacies of working with Lucas. In between, she worked in her studio, concept designer Iain McCaig sent her concept drawings, she made her changes and sent them back. For each prequel episode, Tricia traveled around the world searching for rare, beautiful fabrics that she loved. No dyed chintz or polyester - the best silks, velvets, linen blends, vintage lace.
Nine months before filming began, the period of physically creating the costumes began. Tricia created workshops at Leavesden Studio, where up to 100 people worked at a time, creating costumes. The first series of the prequel was filmed in England, so all the costumes were made at Leavesden Studio. By the second episode, the costumes were partly made in England and partly on location in Australia. By the third episode, all production had moved to Australia. All of Trish's main assistants came with her from England, as well as many cutters, seamstresses, dyers and fabric printers, embroiderers, pattern makers, leather and bead specialists, and hat makers. During the production of costumes for the saga, there were from 80 to 120 people in the workshops.
The work was carried out in a completely unconventional way. The usual course of events is that designers receive a script, break it down into pieces and scenes, calculate the number of main and secondary characters, estimate how many changes of clothing they will need - and then work on the sketches. In the case of the prequel, there was no script, there was an oral story from Lucas about what would be approximately in the series - and the designers began to draw a huge number of sketches and sketches of worlds, places, creatures, costumes. The attic at Lucas's ranch was thickly covered with these sketches. From this, characters, places, and plot moves gradually crystallized.
And the costumes were created like this:
Once Trish and concept designer Ian agreed on the design, colors and fabrics for the costume, work began. If the costumes were for the main characters, a professional costume designer took and recorded all body measurements, outlined the outline of the arm and foot, and if necessary, made an additional cast of the body or head. After this, a model of the suit was made from materials very similar in characteristics to those chosen (but simpler). The hero in this model was photographed and videoed, and he was examined and twisted in every possible way - the proportions, shape, drape of the fabric, how it moved were carefully examined. It was taken into account what he would do - whether it was possible to jump, fight, bend over in these clothes. Lucas himself supervised all the changes and filming - so that the costume looked exactly the way he needed it on the set.
Only after this was the main fabric cut out and the costumes for filming sewn. During the filming itself there were almost no surprises - that the costume did not behave as it should.

drawings by Iain McCaig

The style in which Padmé's costumes were created can be called "futuristic vintage" - a combination of fantastic elements with historical finds. The costumes clearly show elements of the traditional costumes of Japan, Burma, Indonesia, Nepal, China, Russia, Tibet and other countries.
Since the script for the first part had a “fake” queen, the development artists decided that many of the costumes should at least partially hide the queen’s facial features, making it difficult to distinguish Amidala’s double from the real queen.

In the movie “Star Wars. Episode II: Attack of the Clones, set 10 years later, Padmé Amidala, aged 23 or 24, becomes a Senator of the Galactic Senate after completing her second term as Queen of Naboo.

Padmé's clothing becomes less formal compared to Episode I, but her wardrobe is more extensive. She wears less formal and softer clothing as she transforms from mentor to woman in love to woman of action fighting for her life.
Her character got older, and Natalie Portman was able to wear sexier outfits. “George wanted Natalie to be softer, more feminine and less businesslike,” notes Biggar. Despite this, the work on the costumes was very labor-intensive. “For all of the costumes for Episode II, a lot of the work was done by hand,” says Briggar. "There is a lot of embroidery, beading - that is, all types of decorative art."

In the third part of the film saga, "Star Wars: Episode 3 - Revenge of the Sith", three years have passed since the previous events.
During the break between parts 2 and 3, Padmé married Anakin Skywalker.
This is her wedding dress:

For her wedding dress, Trish Biggar looked for an antique bedspread made of yellowed lace that she miraculously inherited. The bedspread was not enough for what they had in mind. But the three of them, with Lucas and Ian, wrapped and pinned the fabric on the mannequin and decided with a sigh that they couldn’t do without it. A whole group of craftswomen disassembled the bedspread into elements, then carefully sewed them onto pieces of tulle cut out for the dress. For additions and transitions, the craftswomen wove 300 meters of silk cord in the same color scheme - and the dress came out just as Trish intended! a veil of Maltese lace was made on Padme's head and decorated with real Edwardian pearl-colored wax flowers and rosettes of their pearls.

In this part, Padme, along with senators Mon Mothma, Bail Organa and some others who later became leaders of the Alliance, becomes the head of the opposition. Padme is pregnant. Her husband becomes Darth Vader, he tries to kill Padme, but he fails. Padme manages to be taken to a medical center, where she gives birth to two children (Leia and Luke), and then dies.

Here's what the episode's costume designer, Trisha Biggar, says: “We've known throughout the world that Padmé is pregnant, even though no one in the outside world knows it. And I wanted to reflect her condition in soft tissues... On the other hand, in Episode III there has been a war for several years, Anakin
far away, and Padme's situation is more critical than in Attack of the Clones... As a designer, I could show the more serious side of her life with the help of slightly darker, but not dense fabrics. I had an excellent opportunity to convey the feelings and characters of the heroes of this monumental epic with the help of costumes.”
Amidala wears perhaps her most beautiful dress at the end of the film.
“I wanted to draw a parallel to that scene on the island in Episode II, when we see her for the first time, when she and Anakin were together and
fell in love with each other. There was water around them, and its colors were like this
amazing that I wanted to use them again. We hand painted the velvet to bring in the color of the water. There was also very, very thin chiffon of blue and green shades, which was boiled using a special technology so that it became even thinner - like a spider’s web.” “On the screen it all came out even more beautiful than I expected. I was absolutely delighted,” adds Biggar.

Princess Padmé Amidala is a bright, assertive and strong-willed character in the famous saga called “Star Wars”. She had a difficult fate: since childhood, Amidala suffered many trials and she had to devote herself to serving the people of the planet Naboo. With complete dedication, she brilliantly completed her mission, which earned her the trust of her loyal circle.

Who played Princess Amidala in Star Wars?

The character of Padmé Amidala appears in several episodes of the star movie saga:

  • "Episode 1: The Phantom Menace";
  • "Episode 2. Attack of the Clones";
  • "Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith."

The role of Queen Amidala in all three episodes went to the famous actress Natalie Portman. The director himself invited her to play the ruler and Natalie immediately agreed, despite the fact that she was not familiar with any of the episodes. She had to show the importance of the mission that Princess Amidala carried out in the Star Wars film saga. The actress, who played the warlike woman, coped with this task and immediately became a favorite of science fiction fans.

Natalie Portman organically managed to enter the role of such a character as Princess Amidala. The actress stated that this work was an excellent basis for her acting experience.

Childhood

Padmé Neberry was born in a small village village into an ordinary family. She and her older sister Sola were raised, instilling high moral qualities, preparing them for great achievements. She studied in the best schools on Naboo and from an early age showed talent in working for the benefit of society.

According to the laws of Naboo, all inhabitants of the planet from 12 to 20 years old had to pay off their debt by working on a voluntary basis. At the age of 7, Padme voluntarily joined an organization called the Movement for the Improvement of the Lives of Refugees, where her father Ruvi Neberry was a member. As part of the Movement's activities, she takes part in an operation to resettle people from the planet Shadda-Bi-Boran, which may suffer from the explosion of a nearby star in its system.

A little later, she enters the Legislative Body as a student, where she eventually receives the position of young legislator. At that time, Padme was 11 years old. During this period, she first meets her wise mentor, Silya Chesson.

Ascension to the throne

Padmé took over as Queen of Naboo when she was 14 years old. By this point, she already had experience ruling the capital city of Theed. According to Naboo tradition, all queens came into their own at a young age. After ascending the throne, Padmé took on the formal name Amidala. The princess immediately began to fulfill her duty.

After becoming queen, Amidala took a course in self-defense and weapons handling at the insistence of Captain Panaka, the head of the security service. Panaka himself was involved in the selection and training of the queen's ladies-in-waiting. The girls went through a strict selection process. An important criterion was external resemblance to the queen, which made it possible to replace her in dangerous times by playing the role of a double. The maids of honor were fluent in martial arts and could protect the queen.

According to the laws of the royal court, the ruler must wear complex outfits, hairstyles and heavy makeup, which Amidala did not avoid. The princess could easily put one of the ladies-in-waiting in her place in her place. Amidala herself at this time served as one of the maids and returned to her own name - Padme, which was known to few.

Political intrigue

After 5 months from the beginning of her reign, Amidala encountered difficulties, which we learn about in the film “Episode 1: The Phantom Menace.” The Galactic Senate decided to establish a tax on ships having trade relations with distant stars. This was unprofitable for the Trade Federation, as it threatened a significant loss of profit. Then the ships of this powerful organization, as a sign of protest, blocked the planet Naboo, which lives mainly on imports (due to the scarcity of its own resources).

Supreme Chancellor Velorum secretly sent envoys to Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray to resolve the conflict. The Viceroy, under the leadership of Darth Sidious, decides to destroy the ambassadors, however, they turn out to be Jedi and fight back. Nute Gunray decides to invade Naboo and capture the queen, forcing her to sign a trade treaty with his Federation, which would make the invasion legal. At this time, the queen is replaced by a double maid, Sabe, who was approved by Amidala. The princess becomes a maid of honor, using the name Padme.

Jedi Ambassadors - Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi free Queen Amidala and her retinue, and in a spaceship break through the blockade, heading for Coruscant. There, Queen Amidala planned to speak to the Senate through Naboo's representative, Palpatine. The ship did not reach its target. Having suffered damage while breaking the blockade, and not having the technical ability to continue the flight, the crew decides to land. For this purpose, the small poor planet Tatooine, free from the Trade Federation, was chosen.

Meet Anakin Skywalker

Arriving on Tatooine, the inhabitants of Naboo faced an obstacle. Their ship needed repairs to resume course. The required part turned out to be expensive, and the merchants refused to accept payment in the form of Naboo credits. It is here that Padmé Amidala, in the guise of the queen's handmaiden, meets young Anakin Skywalker: a slave boy working in a parts dealer's shop.

Fortunately, their stay on Tatooine coincided with the annual intergalactic race on high-speed cars, where the winner was entitled to a large reward. And young Skywalker offered his free help to strangers by becoming the pilot of a high-speed car of his own assembly. Anakin won the race, despite the dangers that awaited him. The course to Corussan, where Amidala was so eager, was resumed. The princess was able to continue her mission. Now her crew was replenished with young Skywalker - a gifted boy with high sensitivity to the Force.

Liberation of Naboo

Arriving on Coruscant and speaking before the Senate, Queen Amidala realizes that she has become embroiled in Palpatine's political intrigues. Taking advantage of the situation, Palpatine takes the post of Supreme Chancellor instead of Velorum. The Queen decides to return to Naboo.

While on her home planet, Amidala enters into negotiations with the Gungans, a deep-sea race living in the underwater cities of Naboo. It is here that her companions learn about the use of the double. It became clear who was the queen and who was playing. Princess Amidala is listened to carefully. The negotiations are successful, the Gungans agree to side with the Naboo army against the Trade Federation troops.

The Federation, for its part, provides an army of droids and launches an attack on Naboo. The Gungans bravely provide resistance by destroying the droids. But the decisive step in the battle is taken by little Skywalker, who blows up the droid control station. In this battle, Qui-Gon Jinn dies, and Obi-Wan avenges his teacher.

Nute Gunray is defeated, stripped of his powers and arrested. Queen Amidala wins yet another victory, managing to protect the people of her planet with extraordinary courage and exceptional tactical skills.

Senatorial post

Queen Amidala's reign was coming to an end. According to the Naboo constitution, she gave up her post to the next ruler, Jamilia. However, she asked her to take the post of Senator of Naboo, previously held by Palpatine. The film “Episode 2. Attack of the Clones” tells about these events.

At this time, there was a threat of a split in the Republic. Several galactic systems were about to leave, which threatened the world order that had been established by the Jedi for so long. Now Senator Amidala had to visit Coruscant again to vote against the creation of an army to fight the separatists. Here, 10 years later, she will meet her old friends - Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and the matured Anakin Skywalker.

During turbulent times, attempts on the senator's life became more frequent. In one of them, her double, the maid of honor Corday, dies. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin take on the task of ensuring Amidala's safety. Soon a series of events leads to the outbreak of conflict. Thus began the next Star Wars.

Princess Amidala once again showed courage and dedication in the battles for peace and justice.

Personal life

Occupying high positions and working for the benefit of the planet Naboo, Padmé did not find time to start a family. Although throughout her fast-paced career she tried to build relationships more than once. First with a boy named Palo.

But their paths diverged when Padmé became interested in politics. Then with Jan Lago - the son of King Veruna's advisor. The relationship ended on the initiative of Padme herself. At that time she was busy preparing for the elections.

Amidala had the most tender relationship with the young Jedi apprentice Anakin Skywalker. Their sudden meeting after a 10-year separation revived the childhood feelings that had once arisen. They learned about their love while in the Lake District, where the Jedi apprentice was fulfilling his mission to protect the Senator of Naboo. Over time, their feelings became stronger, but both understood that social duty would not allow them to be together.

But, despite all the dangers and obstacles, Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker secretly got married in the Lake District. Their union was registered by Maxiron Agolerga, a representative of the Brotherhood of Knowledge. Only two droids witnessed the conclusion of the alliance.

What happened to Princess Amidala?

Unfortunately, the fate of the bright and strong-willed character turned out to be tragic. Padmé was in for a great shock after learning that her secret husband had chosen the dark side and joined the Sith. For a long time she did not believe these rumors until she went to Mustafar to see for herself.

She managed to meet her husband and talk to him. But at some point, Anakin Skywalker, an adherent of the dark side, loses control and strikes his wife, after which she rapidly loses her strength.

Obi-Wan, who arrived in time, defeated his former student. Under Kenobi's leadership, Padmé was taken to the medical center. The girl could not be saved, her vitality was leaving her, this process was irreversible. Before her death, she gave birth to twins: Luke and Leia - hope for a bright future for the Republic.
